I posted a message January 4, 2004 asking for information on the Ender family who lived in Sohland, Saxony & migrated to the U.S. in late 1880's. I have a new email address in case someone has tried to conact me. The Ender family I'm connected to settled in Lee County TX in 1882: August Reinhold Ender, wife Johanna Christiana (Vietze), 3 sons, Carl August, Carl Gustav & Carl Ernest; daughter Ernestine Christine. I'm especially interested in connecting with anyone that might be connected to this family in Germany.

Some time ago, I saw a reference to a water color portrait of Count Stephen Szechenyi by "John Ender". Also, there are references on the internet to a "Johann Thomas Ender" who was born November 3, 1793 in Vienna. Check the website at www.ender.mtak.hu

Trying to locate a possible step-brother Mark

The only thing I know about Mark is that his birth name was Mark or Marc Ender. I do know that his mother remairred and changed his last name. I do not know that name. This happened I believe around Berlin Germany between 1950 -1960. I think. I don't know if he would even know about my dad Herbert.

i saw your request, and wonder, as there is only one family of Sostheim around anywhere, we could be distant relations.. where do you live now?
i am living in Australia. i know of other Sostheim family members and would be inrerested in introducing them if you are interested. I do not know of any 'Ender' family members.

I am searching for info on William Gale Ender b.? married to Minnie Sostheim b. 10 Apr 1858, d. 6 Apr 1950. Their children are:

Blanche Camille Ender b. about 6 Apr 1886 (my grgrandmother)

Arthur Ender
Elsie Ender

Minnie's parents were David Sostheim and Ragel Spiegelberg
and I believe they were from Borgentreich, Westfalen, Germany and were Jewish.

I am writing a book for my grandchildren, and want to tie in the jewish ender surname to show them we at one time were all jewish. I have discovered jewish enders from Krasnik and suwalki poland. my ggrandfather was from rohrau by breslau, but was baptised into the lutheran faith, as i was. would like all the history i can get. there were several hewbrew ender that came in thru ellis island. thanks for any help you can give me. also discovered there were jewish enders in turkey at time of the ottoman empire. thanks, max ender

Your line traces to Christian Ender of Bucks, St. Galens, and mine to Jacob Ender of Schellenberg, Liechtenstein about 10 miles away. Both emigrated about 1852. Interesting. I have traced two Ender lines in the US one back to Lechentstein and the other to nearby Switzerland. Both emmigrated to Wisconsin and nearby states. If you could provide more information about your family, possibly there is a link.

I am looking for anyone interested in Jacob "Jake" Ender and Katherine Burzle, both born and immigrating to first Iowa in 1852 from Liechtenstein.
They eventually relocated to the Nelson, Wisconsin area and had nine children: Magdalena "Lena", Frank Joseph, Susan, Jacob "Jake", Jr., George, Louis,

I was amazed that Patty Abrisz responded to our inquiry the day we posted it, thank you Patty. Here is what we know. Vernon Herman Ender was born in Burlington, IA on 10 Mar 1915; married Margaret Louisa Meier in San Diego, CA on 22 Oct 1945 and died in Ridgecrest, CA on 28 Jun 1980 and is buried in Burlington, IA. Vernon and Margaret had three children Alice Marie Ender; Richard Meier Ender; and Marcia Louise Ender. Thank you for the information.

My Grandmother was an Ender from Burlington,
Iowa. Her Brother's name was William Martin
Ender. His obituary, which is dated June 14,
1973 lists a son named Vernon of Ridgecrest,
Calif. I have William Martin's date of birth
as Jan 4, 1885 and date of death as June 13,
1073, both in Burlington, Iowa. His parents
were William Cashmere Ender born April 5, 1858
in Belleville, Ill., died Feb. ll 1948. His
wife was mary (Maria) Lavina Wise (Weis) who
was born in 1895(?) in Germany. She died in
1934 in Burlington. William M., William C. and
Mary are all buried at Sacred Heart Cemetary
in Burlington. I took pictures at the cemetary
last fall.
William C. parents are William or Christofore
Ender and Barbara Beckwith (listed as Boggy on
wedding certificate. Barbara is supposed
to also be buried at Sacred Heart Cemetary,
but I did not find her grave. I have Barbara's
date of birth as 1816 in Germany and her date
of death as Nov. 1. 1885 in Burlington.
That's as far back as I go with that side of
the family. I do have more info on these people
and on some of the other Ender relatives.
I have copies of William C. and William M. obits.,
pictures from the cemetary, and a few old pictures
of William C. and Mary. I also have a copy of
William C. and Mary's marriage certificate.
I hope this makes sense! Nice to make contact
cousin.

Wondered if anyone who checks this board has any information on any Ender families from England?

My gg-granfather James Russell Ender arrived in New Orleans, LA around 1849 from England. He was baptised in St. Pancras Parish, Middlesex Co; I have his date of birth as 8 May 1826. I tentatively have his father as a William Ender, but that is not much more than speculation.

If anyone has information on any Ender's from England, I'd appreciate any clues.
