Endersbys from Standon, Hertfordshire

The oldest confirmed member of our Endersby family is William [b 1815] and his wife Hannah [possibly Kingham]. They had 10 children: 5 boys [William, George, Edward, Frederick and Walter] and 5 girls [Mary, Sarah, Emily, Caroline, Susan].

Our Endersby line comes from Edward; in 1859 Edward married Selena Cowler and they had 9 children, one of whom was Albert Sydney Endersby, my husband's grandfather.

In 1921, Albert S. along with his wife [Ethel Horspool] and their three children [Sydney Ronald, Albert Dennis, and Peggy Winifred], immigrated to the United States. Today, there are a total of 12 people descended from Edward: There are 6 people with the last name Endersby and 2 females who were Endersbys but have since married with 4 children from those marriages. [plus 3 females who are Endersbys by marriage]

I will share information about this line with anyone who is descended from any of the other Endersby brothers, i.e., George, Frederick or Walter [the firstborn son, William, is believed to have died as a youth] if you are interested.

Or, if you are also a descendent and can go back farther than William and Hannah I would love to have that information as well.

Do any of you have a family line with Endersbys in Bedfordshire from the Northill area? My great grandad is Harry Endersby, b1883 in Northill (married to Liffin Street). His father was William b1851 in Northill (married to Annie Mariah Onion). William's father was John b in Old Warden in 1815 and married to Susannah, but I haven't got any further back than that.
Please do get in touch if you have information or links in to this tree. I'm also researching Miltons. Thank you.

Hi My names Mark Bendersby from Newbury. My name is the original form name for Endersby and about 300 years ago they dropped the B. When I found this out I added the B. Basically a Bendersby was a town gaylord or gayboy who would get "bendered" and thus once bendered would be known as a "Bendersby". This is fascinating info which I found out at Newbury museum and the library which have recrds of this.

Hi there I am a Canadian Endersby My family came from the Cambridge area of England in the mid/late 1800's and have retained the "s" in their name It is interesting that I see so many common first
names time and again when I looked up Endersby that are common to some of the
Endersbys up here My father was William John Thompson Endersby I have some hard copy information I was given by someone else
researching this family name

It appears Endersby is an uncommon name and
Ender, Endersby, Enderby all appear to
be related
Sherry

From my mothers DAR records, my ggggrandfather was Benjamin F. Endersby born in England in 1794 and married Maria Simmons. Their daughter, Suzanna, married my great-great grandfather. I believe Suzanna was born Dec. 17, 1824 in Gilden Morden Cambridge Shire, England and her father, BF Endersby located in Hillsboro, (Henry county) Iowa in 1841. As I said, she married my gggrandfather, JB Spees and had 7 children - all lived in Iowa.

To Pamela Enderby. My father was Merlin Francis Enderby born in Appleton, New York 1912-2000. His parents were Bert and Sarah Howard Enderby. Sarah was from Canada. Through my research, I've found Endersby was the original spelling in England and seemed to change when the families imigrated to the USA. Please contact me, maybe we can help each other with our search.

Sherry,
Yes, I have found that the spelling is just a letter different and yet believe they are all related. I've hit a wall with my g-grandfather that came from England in middle 1800. First I found him was in the 1860 US Census. He married Sarah Blackley and until her death in 1901, they were always in the Appleton, NY,USA area. From time to time their children were not always with the family. One son (my grandfather)married a Sarah Howard from Toronto, Ont. in 1910.
