Lloyd M. Enger, son of Hans and Agnete (Daarud) Enger, was born September 8, 1919 in Emmetsburg, Iowa. He received his education in the Emmetsburg School system.

On November 28, 1940 Lloyd was united in marriage to Viola Olesen at the Bethany Lutheran Church parsonage.

Lloyd and Viola began farming near Osgood in 1942, and made their home there for six years. They then moved to a farm near Ruthven where they farmed until 1990. At that time they moved into Ruthven.

Lloyd is a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Ruthven, where he had served on as a Trustee. He was a past member of Bethany Lutheran Church in Emmetsburg and Bethel Lutheran Church in Graettinger. Lloyd was also a member of the Ruthven Elevator Coop.

Lloyd enjoyed their trips to California, Colorado and Leech Lake. He truly enjoyed farming, especially caring for his cattle. After he retired, Lloyd played golf in Graettinger.

Lloyd died Friday, February 13, 2009 at the Buena Vista County Hospital in Storm Lake, Iowa at the age of 89. He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Randy; a daughter, JoAnn Hanson; five brothers; three sisters; and three infant grandchildren.

He is survived by three sons, Vern Enger of Emmetsburg, IA, Gene Enger and his wife, Judy of Emmetsburg, IA and David Root and his wife Sidra of Webster City, IA; son-in-law, Merl Hanson of Graettinger, IA; daughter-in-law, Eloise Enger of Laurens, IA; sixteen grandchildren; twenty five great grandchildren; several great-great grandchildren; two sisters, Gladys McBreen of Heron Lake, MN and Arlene Flynn of Emmetsburg, IA; as well as many other relatives and friends.
