Hello,

I'm not sure if you're still doing any ancestry research, but my great-grandfather was Gunnar Engwall of Sweden, he was married to Mary Carr of Scotland and had three children, John (Jack), Margaret, and Mary, who was my maternal grandmother. I'd love to learn more about this side of my family. We are in Carson City, Nevada.

Sincerely,
Kimberly Carrubba

Our dad died Oct. 1966 of cardiac arrest. Our Swedish grandaprents died before any of us were born. My grandfather, Frank had remarried and so our stepgrandmother tried to tell us what she knew. She had our grandmother's body brought to Moble to be buried with her and grandfather.
my email is kwillie5@hotmail.com.
I hope I am not too late.
Dear Vern, I am so excited you found us. Wyatt called me, very excited. I have been the family historian but quit when my mother became less able to participate. She died this last July, 2007. Our dad, Kenneth Engwall died in 1966. Our grandfather, Frank, Franz Oscar Engwall died in 1943. His wife, Christena died in 1917. Her death certificate says she had TB for 4 yrs. We know so little about her. We have our grandparents' wedding photo. The Ellis Island website gave us the ship and all. I have no idea how they came to be in Scranton, Pa. and that they were there for yrs. Our grandfaterh remarried in 1943, and that stepgrandmother is the one we know. He took her to visit Sweden in 1943. She had photos of their trip and I still have them.
My father was sent to Sweden after his mother died, for 9 months, in about 1920. we have no details, but he was lonely and wanted to be home with his dad.
my email is kwillie5@hotmail.com
please, lets continue.
Sincerely, Karen Engwall Willis

Re: Engwall family

My grandfather, Daniel Erikson/Erickson, may be Christina (Stina) Engwall's brother. Daniel was born Dec. 18, 1888 in Rattvik, Sweden and came to America in 1909. The passenger list on the Ellis Island website indicates that he was going to reside with his brother-in-law, Frank Engwall in Scranton, PA. I found that in 1910 the Scranton, PA census record shows that "Daniel Erik", age 21, lived with Engwall family. I believe that is my grandfather, Daniel Erikson/Erickson. WWI draft card records show that Daniel moved to Houston Co., MN sometime before 1917. He eventually served in the army during the war. He married in 1924 in Minnesota and had two children. In the 1920s the family moved to La Crosse, WI. Daniel died in 1947, in La Crosse. My Dad and Aunt remember making a trip to Alabama to visit an aunt when they were very young; however, they do not remember any other details. Daniel has a brother, Anders/Andrew, who immigrated and initially settled in Willmar, Minnesota and later moved to Superior, WI. As a young child, I remember visiting him several times in the early 1960s. Does any of this information sound familiar to you? Daniel's parents were Erik Persson (1852-1918) of Rattvik, Sweden and Kerstin Danielsdotter (1853-1933) of Rattvik, Sweden.

Vern Erickson

The brother of my grandfather was Gunnar Engwall of Oakland who was married to Mary. When I was only two-years-old, we visited the family many years ago. In 1945 when I was working in Alameda, I spoke with a Mary Engwall by phone. Since then we have lost contact with the family. My grandfather, William, was from Gotland, where I have visited his home twice. I would like to hear from you. My phone is 763/537-3286.

Bob Engwall

I am not related, but I have in my possession a picture of a Rev. and Mrs. Martin S. Engwall and Children. This would have been in the early to middle 1900's - the children's names are Elaine Joy; Yvonne Faith; Caryl Jeanne; and Corinne Ruth. I sure would like to connect with relatives of these Engwall's. Do you know of any???
