Enos/Enis marriages Blount Cnty TN 1820-1830

For you Enis searchers, the following is from the Blount Cnty TN records, with apologies to others: there is some bad info circulating and seems to have taken a life of its own. Thomas Enis (Enos) is my GGgrandfather and is well documented with hundreds of descendents. His brother John, married Dorcas Jacobs, the sister of Thomas's wife, Barbara Jacobs. Some records suggest that Wm Miles Enis married Dorcas Jacobs but in two years search there is no record of such a marriage that I can find. It is more likely that William Miles Enos may have been the father of Thomas, John, Alexander and William Jr. although he (Jr.) is not called that, the title of Jr. not being widely accepted at the time, and at least one sister, Elizabeth. What makes this more confusing is that Alexander marries an Elizabeth also, replacing the Elizabeth Enos name of his sister. To compound matters further, the 1830 census lists an Elizabeth Enos as a head of household, but who is she? LDS suggests she is Elizabeth Galloway Enos, widow of Wm M. Enos Sr. but we can't pin it down for sure, either.

From the Blount Cnty TN records:
Marriage date:
20 Dec 1821 John Enis to Dorcas Jacobs
1 Dec 1822 Elizabeth Eanis to William Morris
17 Apr 1823 Thomas Enis to Barbara Jacobs
(my line, I have all of their children and descendants)
14 Oct 1830 Alex Eanos to Elizabeth Winchester

Those of you who claim a descendancy of Wm. Miles Enis who left Blount Cnty TN to go to AL and MS are in this line. But rest assured, this is proof of where the name split between Enos and Enis, but it is the same. This is also a tie for you Enas and Eanos searchers.

Thomas Enos tells census takers for several decades that he was born in SC 1803 and his wife, Barbara Jacobs is born in NC 1805, that is clear. But I have yet to find the family there. I suspect a different spelling is keeping me from finding them. More knowledgeable researchers than I have suggested that we look in VA or PA. Remember now, the Enos/Enis/Enas were all said to be descended from Huguenots. As the Civil War was taking shape, they all "cut out" for other places West, they were not slave owners.

I am open for challenges, searchers??? Give me your slant on this.
(Don't you just love a mystery????)
