Hi Cheryl. good hearing from you again. yes that date is correct for my grandfathers death. Just last in Sept. I was in winfield and visited the grave site. My mom, also turned 90 in sept. she did not get to make the trip. Will try to get that way with her soon. She is the last of that generation. Her youngest sister Naomi, died in aug this year. Another of our cousin that live in Ca. passed in Aug. His name was Charles Allen Enis. He and I were the same age. he lived in San Francisco. His sisters and brothers are still there. they are Wilean, June, Preston, Frankie and Micheal.

Yes, Nellie Jane ENIS and S. Robert Brannon were my great-grandparents. Their daughter, Nethal Brannon, was my grandmother. Nethal Brannon married William Pruitt and had 2 children. My mother, Celeste, is oldest of those 2 children. My mother just turned 80 this past March and lives in Los Angeles, CA.

Hello cc1952, I am positive I am an off-spring of Buck and Easter Enis. My grandfather (Buck's grandfather)is Verbie (deceased) and the two living grandchildren of Buck Enis on Andrew's side are: Robert and Louise. I noticed a picture of a Nellie (Jane) and Robert Brannon, is this a picture of your great-grandparents? Because Nellie and Andrew were sister and brother.

I also am a descendant of Buck Enis. My great-grandmother was Nellie Jane ENIS who married into the BRANNON family of Alabama. She and her husband (Samuel Robert BRANNON) then moved to Earslboro, OK because the KKK wanted their property. One of Buck's wife's (he had 2 or 3) named Easter is buried in Hopewell Cemetery, Fayette County, AL. She died Apr 23, 1903. Her headstone reads: Wife of Buck.

Easter/Ester Enis is not buried in Beaver Creek. I found her a couple of years ago buried in Hopewell Cemetery, Fayette County, AL. Her headstone reads: Apr 8, 1859 - Apr 23, 1903, Wife of Buck. My name is Cheryl and you can reach me at my home email: Choctawcharley2001@yahoo.com.

Also, Buck and Ester (Easter) Enis have two grandchildren in their 80's living on their son's Andrew side of the family. They are my grandfather's brother and sister.

Buck Enis and Ester (Easter) also had a son named Andrew. He is my grandfather's father. Ester said to be buried at Hopewell Cementary. Beaver Creek, Al is the story that was told to me as the place of residence. Also, Winfield and Fayette, Al are great references for Buck Enis. My relatives still live in Marion County.

This family sounds very similar to mine. I am the great-great grand-daughter of Buck Enis who bought a slave (Ester)and married her, they had 13 children; of those 13 children was Andrew Enis (my grandfather's father), all of Marion County, AL (Fayette/Winfield/Beaver Creek,AL, etc. I was also told that Nellie was one of the 13 children, if so, is this the picture posted with her husband? If this sounds remotely close, then we are speaking of the same family.

Those are the tombstones of my father (Bill) and grandfather (W.C.). I was amazed to find those pictures on the web as I was researching my family. Thank you for taking them and posting them.

W.C. Enis (stands for William Cleon) was from Alabama. I think Fayette co. - but I don't know any more than that. Bill's real name was Cleon William, he has a brother Hunter (alive) and a mother Elizabeth (Taylor - deceased) who was also from Alabama I believe.

From info given to me by relatives, my great grandfather, Buck Enis, was the offspring of a Bill Enis of Fayette County Alabama. His mother's name was Nell. Maiden name unknown. I understand she was from Oklahoma and brought to Fayette County Ala by Bill Enis. Should anyone have knowledge of them, please leave a message on this board.

Hi. Actually we stayed in touch with the Feltmens. Lester and Vester Feltmen were my dads cousing and Willodean. Vester and Willodean have passed on, probably Lester too. He was married to a Dorothy Feltmen and lived in Birmingham Alabama. We also have a cousin named Mel Enis that lives in Fayette Alabama. The last time I saw lester was around 1965. A sandra wood has also referred me to this book.

I checked my file and Curt Enis married Mary Alice Mabrey daughter of Randolph Mabrey and Elizabeth Sutterfied. Mary is from Arkansas and was born Jan. 30, 1870 Ak. Died March 13, 1945 LA,California. They had a son Lacy Elmer Ennis b. 2-214-1902 Texas, d. June 29, 1953 LA, California.

I think we corresponded before. I have a Curtis (aka Curt) Monroe Enis b. Nov 17, 1891 and died Sep 1966. He is buried in Carbon Hill, Walker County, Al. He had 10 siblings. I have most of their dates but do not have all their spouses and children. Also, I have his mother and father's name. Does this info correlate with what you know about your Curt?

Call the Fayette Co couthouse, 205-932-4519. The ladies there are very nice and if they havent had to hand out too many car tags they will likely help. They have excellent data. There is a board on the wall there that has Fayette county residents of note. I remember seing and Enis who was sheriff. I failed to write it down. I also have a W.M. Enis b. Mar. 27, 1830 buried at the Enis Family Cemetary who may be the same person. Every record of him that I find he is listed as W.M. His wife is listed as N.C. Enis

I'm also researching the ENIS family, particularly Easter and Buck Enis (farmer) who lived in Russell, Fayette, AL late 1870-1920's. They are both listed on the 1880 and 1900 census for that area. Louisa/Luisey Enis is listed w/them on the 1900 census as Buck's mother. By the 1910 census, Buck was widowed, and his mother was no longer with him. I'm trying to find his wife's date of death and where she is buried. I'd also like to know where Buck is buried, death date unknown, and his mother. They had at least 12 children: Cincinati, Rosie, Bill, Alonzo, Della, Avanell, Nellie Jane, Marston, Donell, Carrie, Almer, & Fenton. Other family members were: Mel Enis was Buck's father. Samuel S. Enis was Buck's brother. Buck supposedly was Choctaw and born ~1850-58 in Beaver Creek, Morin Co, AL. His wafe Easter was a slave and was born ~ 1858, place unknown.

Hi there. I realize it has been awhile since you posted this, but maybe I can help you out a little bit. My maiden name is Enis, I am Mel and Rosie Enis's granddaughter. I do know where the Enis cemetery is and would be happy to show it to you sometime. I don't know the exact road number, but it is near the Studdard's Crossroads at the junction of Fayette and Walker Counties. The cemetery is quite small and old; no one has been buried there for years. As a matter of fact, my grandfather is buried in Studdard's Crossroads Cemetery (died in 1984). I have some info on these families but my main source is a book called "The Enis Family of Rowan County North Carolina" by Maude Enis Ricks. If you don't have it you should get it.

My family is decended from William Sanford Enis, one of three sons born to John Miles Enis, Sr. and his second wife, Lovie Feltman. This family was unknown to the author but I have great amounts of evidence that my family are decendants of John Sr.

It seams that the Enis, Files, and Feltmans were truly tangled up and that they all kept in touch until the mid 1900's.

Our part of the family has some very interesting history, but while considered by some to be good people they were many who were definitely not law abiding.

While looking through my grandmother's pictures, I found one labled "The John Enis Family" & was hoping someone might help me to identify the family. Some believe them to be John Miles Enis, Sr. with his wife Lucinda Files & their children. There are eight children in this photo which leads me to believe it is John Miles Enis, Jr. with his wife Amelia Irene Wooley & their children. Unfortunately, all I have for his family is from the 1930 census. His information came from family bible of his sister Ular (Eula) Enis Bowen Duke. The info from the census is as follows:

Curt Enis 39 in 1930, he was married at 22, head of house
Mary Enis 33 in 1930, married at 16, wife of head
Jess Enis 16 in 1930, married at 16, son
Cora Enis 13 in 1930, ,daughter
Francis Enis 9 in 1930, ,daughter
Eunice Enis 2 9/12 in 1930, ,daughter
Ivory Enis 17 in 1930, married at 17 ,daughter-in-law
Homer Enis 25 in 1930 ,brother of head

I will try and get the info from family members, but one of Curt's nieces died this morning so it will probably be a few days before I approach them.

Here is a picture of the John Miles Enis family. The second picture may be John Miles Enis or Jerry Volantine Enis family. If the writing on top says Delma on the left, I can not make it out then it would be my Grandmother Delma Lewis family which is the Jerry Voluntine Enis family with his wife Arrinda Fowler. If anyone could help me identify the second photo and the people in the phot that would be nice. I am also going to look through the photos I just received to make comparisons. Mayve I can figure it out that way and repost something.

I have gone back to my grandmothers grandfather John Miles Enis who married an amanda wooley. I was able to find a lot of ths information on the Mormon website from utah. . I did get this information free of charge> I can find my grandmothers father Jerry Vallantine Enis I can find her mother arrinda fowler and her sister Eula I know my grandmother lived I knew her in person. I just can not seem to find any records for her.

I just got some info that may be helpful to some of you. My grandmothers name was Delma Enis. My grandmother had a sister Named Eula. My grandmothers dad was a storekeeper and the Sherrif in Bankston Alabama. My uncle told me this was around the turn of the 1900s. My grandmothers sister Eula married a Buck Feltman. My grandmother had my dad out of wedlock. My dad George Lacy Ennis was born Nov. 3 1922. Someone on one of the boards has posted his obituary. My grandmother then married Mr. Lewis ( I dont know his first name, I will get a hold of the old cleveland cemetery in Bankston alabama) My grandmother and Eula are buried in the old cleveland cemetery in or near Bankston alabama. My uncle told me my aunt Nepa (Lewis) Nelson passed away four years ago. He will be sending me photos of my grandmothers family. My uncle lives in Tupelo Miss. Where he has some children. I did not know where he was and did an extensive search for him and found him.

My dad was related to the Eula you are talking about on the boards. I was administrator for this board once before and let it go. I want to keep it up and would like to find that cemetery listing where you are talking about all of thes people being berried in alabama. Furnace hill alabama. I would like to get a hold of a list of people berried in that cemetery. I beleive my grandma delma Lewis is berried in that one.

I had a cousin named Mel Enis. His son Dwight lives in Fayette Alabama. His number is listed. My grandmothers sister married Buck Feltmen and they had a slew of kids. Mel and Rosie have passed on and there is an old cleveland cemetery in fayette Alabama I think it is the Old cleveland church of Christ. All these aforementioned names are buried there and I have called there several times and left messages and the pastor has not called me back. That is also in Fayette county Alabama.

The blue writing on the 2nd photo appears to identify the people as follows: Aunt Eula Felton; Gran Pa & Gran Ma Enis; Mother Delma Enis. I am researching the Enis family who lived in Fayette & Tuscaloose Counties in Alabama during the 1830-1900's. We have a John Miles Enis in our line. Where is this Enis family from?
