Same story we have heard here last week I went to their graves and thought about the meeting in the school house also. I think Malinda Jane who married Capt John Paschall was related to Aunt Jo's first husbsand here in Ok. This was why she left the money to Oklahoma University, I don't know how the two were related. My mother had the original's and I have those and copies. Same as many others have. Since we border Ark and they lived in the next county in Ark. I am wondering if they married in Ok or a record I have after Martha married John Stovall the marriage licenses I have seen were in Sevier Co. Ark We got copies in Dequeen Ark a few years ago but some of the weddings were in Goodwater which is Mc Curtain Co. Ok Goodwater was very near Locksburg Ark and Chapel Hill Ark where some are also buried. Since they were near the border area I just wanted to confirm my info with yours. Thanks Jo Ann

I will try to re-write what was written by Jo Efa Enoch, her brother James Marion supplied some of this info. I'll rewrite / copy the beginning - and send it tomorrow as an attachment. It is too long to re-copy the entire thing. If I can scan it from my computer I'll try that.
I'll get back with you later this weekend.

Jackie

Sonia, I think you communicated with my mother Elizabeth I remember your letters and have them or copies I think, Did you just see what came up about the Stovall, side and the other 8 children Sarah's mother had by that second marriage, I knew from our records parts but this new information sheds light on Sarah's 1/2 siblings and I heard from her brother James's line. I recognized your name and thought I would answer quickly. If Martha was buried in Ardmore as the other person said then we might can track her birth and burial records, this is the part mom thinks it was Martha Wilson that was indian but she was a little unsure, she remembers when they moved here in
Mc Curtain Co, and they are buried here and then she remembers going when they lived across the border, she was small but her older sister wrote about your side and told us stories, I am shocked about the 8 children, mom just said a second marriage and I thought they were probably older and did not think about the children she had that were 1/2 to Sarah. Is this anywhere close to what you thought. jo ann

Tabitha, thank you for responding to my post. I've spoken with your Uncle Jeff and know of you and your brother, Jeff.
I was hoping to hear from someone related to Madison aka "Butch." I was very pleasantly surprised to hear from your Uncle Jeff after all these years. I had a lot of questions to ask him regarding your father. My daughter, Linda, and son, Madison, also known as Butch, never really knew their Dad. Linda was only 15 mos old and Madsion was just 9 mos. old when your dad went to Vietnam. When he returned to the states, he didn't let us know he was back. He went straight to Toledo, called me and told me he didn't want us anymore and to file for divorce. I was stunned and hurt to say the least, but file for divorce I did. He soon married Jo Ann and the rest is history.
My son is anxious to make contact with you and/or your brother. I'm sure there are a lot of questions he needs and would like to have answered too.
I would be interested in having copies of the pictures in the album you have. I have no pics of the kids, when they were small, or your dad, to show them. They were all left in a storage locker when Madison went to Vietnam. I would love to at least be able to show them a picture of their father. They've never seen one. If you would like to talk to me, you can call me at 314-991-1789 or I can call you if you send me your number. You can also write to me at coates6405@aol.com if you wish. I'd love to hear from you. Thanks again and please keep in touch. Bea

I do not have any information on Sarah's parents except for their names. I am also interested in the Choctaw connection. Have been looking for the Indian connection for my Hightower line. Cumy married my great grandfather Charles Eligah Hightower.
Sonia Hightower Hetherington

Hi, Sonia,
We corresponded by snail mail back in the early 1990's on the Nantes/Nants family. My ggrandfather was James Theophilus Nantes, borther of Sarah. Since then, I've picked up quite a bit of information on the Nantes/Wilson family background, which I'm happy to share. Are you still living in Texas?
Sandy

John ENOCH born 1845 Germany > England

Hi can anyone help me ?

I have an ancestor who, according to the UK census, was born in Germany - about 1845 - but states he was a British Subject....

I have asked at the British International Births section of the Register Office, and there is no record of his birth.

His father is named as James ENOCH, according to his marriage certificate, in 1870, when he marries in Yorkshire, England.

Could he be a child born to British parents living abroad and if so :-

1. Would he have had to be registered in Germany and if so, why was he not registered in Engalnd when he came here ?

I am assuming is parents brought him back to the UK but can't be sure of this as I have no way of knowing when ?

2. Could he be German and taken British Citizenship when he came here ???

ANYONE WITH ANY THEORIES .... please post, here... I would be eternally grateful.....
Randi--We are distantly--sort of--related, although by marriage only, as Samuel Enoch, Fanny Ritter's husband, was my grandmother's brother. I'm doing a family history for my son and nephews, and was wondering if you've come across anything about the Enochs. My Enoch grandmother's name was Sadie, and she married Alexander Guttenplan; they were the parents of my father, Murray Guttenplan. All are now gone, of course, and I find I know very little. Any leads you can give me would be greatly appreciated. Thanks much--Carol Rosenthal

2nd Lt. Howard C. Enoch Jr. remains recovered after 63 years:

http://johnibiii.wordpress.com/category/p-51/

Another item:

Remains Of Missing WWII P-51 Pilot Identified
Wed, 13 Aug '08

To Be Buried At Arlington Next Month
The Department of Defense POW/Missing Personnel Office (DPMO) announced Tuesday the remains of a US serviceman, missing from World War II, have been identified and will be returned to his family for burial with full military honors.

He is 2nd Lt. Howard C. Enoch Jr., US. Army Air Forces, of Marion, KY. He will be buried September 22 in Arlington National Cemetery near Washington, DC.

Representatives from the Army met with Enoch's next-of-kin to explain the recovery and identification process and to coordinate interment with military honors on behalf of the Secretary of the Army.

On March 19, 1945, Enoch was the pilot of a P-51D Mustang that crashed while engaging enemy aircraft about 20 miles east of Leipzig, near the village of Doberschütz, Germany. His remains were not recovered at the time, and Soviet occupation of eastern Germany precluded his recovery immediately after the war.

In 2004, a team from the Joint POW/MIA Accounting Command (JPAC) surveyed a possible P-51 crash site near Doberschütz.
Re: John ENOCH born 1845 Germany > England

I would suggest that it is extremely unlikely that the reason for him being born in Germany was that his father was in the army or navy - British army or navy in Germany in 1845? History! There was however a considerable amount of movement of tradespeople in both directions in the 19th century, so if his parents were living in Germany for those reasons he could be British through them. However tracing a birth would be almost impossible because German records are kept at local level, very often church records at that time, so if you have no idea where he was born you are stumped. There is also the possibility that he was German. Enoch is not unknown as a family name in Germany although not too common - there are 57 entries for Enochs in the German telephone book. However, the name James is not very Germanic. If you could get any line on a place that would be your best bet. Not much help I'm afraid but something more to think about.
