Ensley - Shelby County, Indiana
While looking at the 1900 Addison Township, Shelby County, Indiana census, I came across a Frank and Harry Ensley living in the same house, both listed as head. Can anyone tell me who thier parents might be?
Also, I have a Nathaniel Ensley in Jackson Township, Shelby County, Indiana in 1850, 1860 and 1870, with Mary shown as wife in 1850 and 1860, and Lida as wife in 1870. There is a William A in 1860 and 1870. The kicker here is that Nathaniel is shown as 22 in 1850, 32 in 1860, and amazingly, only 33 in 1870. I have yet to find another Nathaniel, so I'm wondering if this is indeed the same Nathaniel.
An observation .... there were an awful lot of "unoccupied" homes in Shelby County in 1860 - more than I've ever seen on any census. I'm starting to think that the Ensley families must have been in these homes, because I sure can't find many Ensleys (any form of the name) in 1860 in Shelby County
