I descend from George's daughter Catherine Enslen who was born 14 Sept. 1784 in PA and died 22 Sept. 1861 in Franklin Twp., Kosciusko Co., IN. Catherine married Adam Sarber in 1803 in PA. They had 9 children. I have that her father was George Enslen and her mother was Margaret.

Would be interested in knowing what info you have on Catherine's siblings and her parents.

Thank you,
Jo Ann

cummins0745@sbcglobal.net

Wondering if your ancestry is from George Enslin b 1770 & died in Canaan Township, Wayne Co. PA 1837. It has never been proven whether this George was born in Germany or America. I am a direct descendant through his son Simon.

Jacob Enslen was my 3xgreat grandfather and is buried in the Zion Reformed Church Cemetery in Meridien Pa (near Butler). He had 6 daughters Catherine (b 1816) (m Samuel Dershimer), Elizabeth (m Eli Henshaw) - both were my 2x great grandfathers. I don't know the names of the other daughters but they married a Pillow, Ryber, Deitrich and a Sleppy. Jacob was born about 1784 and died in 1845. I have a no other confirmed information about him or his wife. Does any of thes work for you ?

I have Cynthia Ann Enslen married to Lewis H Seidel (spelled Sidell in some records). Cynthia born to Hiram and Eliza Enslen, Allen Co., Ohio. Hiram died between 1850-1860. Doesn't look like Eliza ever remarried. I've found a short biography for John Enslen of Allen county, Ohio and I think he is Hiram's brother, but not certain. If correct, then Cynthia would descend:

Abraham Enslen (b. Germany) and unknown
Abraham left four children: Jacob, Conrad, John and Henry.

John Enslen (b. Feb 3, 1780, Luzerne Co., PA) and Catherine Transil
Children of John and Catherine: Abraham, Frederick, Mary, Betsey, Hiram, Sarah A., Catherine, Louis, Margaret, John and Lydia.

Hiram Enslen (b. Abt 1817, Franklin Co?, OH) and Eliza Unknown
Children of Hiram and Eliza: Cynthia Ann, Orsenth, William, John A and Henrietta.

Cynthia Ann Enslen b. April 1840, Allen Co?, OH) and Lewis H Seidel, son of Charles Seidel and Ernestina Von Waggoner.
Children of Lewis and Cynthia: Frank and Anna
If you have any information to share, please email me at catcharmed@comcast.net
Thanks,
Cathy

George Enslin

The Enslins populated the new world in the early 1700's from Bopfingen in Germany - then Poland. The surname is a variation of Anshelm. My firs ancestor in South Africa named one of his three sons George. Since it was custom to keep names within families there is a possibility that George was family of Johann Adam Enslin who also arrived in South Africa in the early 1700`s
