I was on here a few years back...maybe 8-10yrs ago looking for information on my fathers lineage George Milton Enslow son of George Marion Enslow son of George A. Enslow and Bessie Bongard of Kansas....my parents GeorgeMilton and Sylvia Woodworth have done some research also on the line but we have found little that can be substantiated! If anyone has info on my George A. Enslow who was Married to Bessie Bongard and subsequently divorced in 1902 I would be very appreciative! You can contact me at cheridarn@yahoo.com . There was some thought that our George A Enslow was decendant possibly of David Enslow or poss of the Joseph Enslow line out of the midwest area...can anyone substantiate this???

Re: Will of William Miller (Enslow listed) & ENSLOWs

The Abraham and William ENSLOW named in the will of William MILLER were half-brothers of our David ENSLOW.

Abraham ENSLOW, b. ca. 1760's, lived in Juniata Co., PA and md. Marguerita DOBBS, d.o. Thomas DOBBS and Janet MAHAFFY. John Dobbs ENSLOW, a son of Abraham and Marguerita, later md. Sarah Louisa (Eliza) ENSLOW, d.o. David ENSLOW in Sangamon Co., IL.

William ENSLOW, b. ca. 1760's, later added a "d" to his name---making it ENDSLOW and his descendants have mostly continued that spelling. William lived in Mifflin Co., PA and md. Isabella SIMISON.

David ENSLOW, the youngest of the three, was probably b. in the late 1760's. He had a different mother than Abraham and William, but evidently the same father.....so far, this father's first name is unknown to me. David's mother, widow of ___?___ ENSLOW, then md. James BEHAM, a Rev. War soldier and lived in Finley Twp., Washington Co., PA.

James BEHAM had been md. before also and had two sons by his 1st wife (whoever she was). He was also widowed when he md. David's mother who may have been the Hannah who joined James BEHAM when he sold his land in Wash. Co., PA and moved to the part of Muskingum Co., OH which later fell into Guernsey Co.. BEHAM had received a land grant of 100 acres there which was patented to him in 1801. David ENSLOW also moved there with the BEHAMs and operated an inn and tavern along the newly made National Road. He later moved to Scioto Co., OH (along the Ohio River) and then moved to Logan Co., IL. He md. Rachel VIRGIN, d.o. Rezin VIRGIN and Jemima ARNOLD of Wash. & Fayette Co., KY and Greenup Co., KY, and they had a large family.

In my active research over the past 39 years, I have obtained extensive information on these ENSLOW families. Most of it has been filmed by the Family History Library in Utah and the films are available to order and read at any of their branch libraries all over the world.

I welcome correspondence on the EN(D)SLOW and BEHAM families.

Krista,

The films of my ENSLOW research can be found at the main Family History Library (Mormon) in Salt Lake City, UT or ordered and read at any of their branch libraries all over this country and in various other areas in the world.

The film numbers involved can be found at that Family History (Mormon) Library website. Do the following:

Familysearch.org
Click on "Library"
Click on "Library Catalog"
Put my name in "Author Search"

You will then see all of my records that have been filmed by the FHL to date. I have many more on other families that I hope to get filmed in the future.

Good luck with your search! Dolores

I am still trying to find links to the Enslows. My husbands paternal grandfather is a mystery to us. His grandparents George A Enslow and Bessie McConahay lived in Whiticha Kansas in the early 1900s. They were only married a short time and were divorced when his father was under a year old. Bessie would not share much information with the family. We believe he worked as a cook for the railroad(dont know which one)probably the one through witchita. Would like any information that you can help me with. Thanks.

The William ENSLOW, husband of Mary (Bell) ENSLOW of this obituary was the son of Abraham ENSLOW and Marguerita DOBBS of Juniata Co., PA. I have the names of their children and further information on this family if anyone is interested.

Abraham ENSLOW was a half brother to my husband's David ENSLOW and Abraham had another brother (full) William who changed the spelling of his last name to ENDSLOW who md. Isabell SIMISON and lived in Mifflin Co., PA.

David ENSLOW md. Rachel VIRGIN in southwestern PA and they moved to Ohio and later to Illinois. John Dobbs ENSLOW, son of the above Abraham ENSLOW went to IL and md. David ENSLOW's dau. Sarah Louisa (also called Eliza) ENSLOW.

I have more on these EN(D)SLOW families and would like to exchange ideas with others working on them. Researchers have been stymied on their ancestry for years. They have been "tough nuts to crack" and I don't think that they have been "cracked" yet.

My research and charts on these ENSLOW families was filmed by the Family History Library (Mormon) in the 1980's and the film can be ordered and read at any of their branch Libraries. I believe that the records of several other ENSLOW researchers have been filmed.

Dolores in CA

Roy,

Thanks for posting that will. I did not have it, but did have that William EN(D)SLOW md. Isabella SIMISON. Do you have the reference for the will? I always like to have that information.

Also, do you have the origin of the SIMISON family and are you related to the Milton G. ENDSLOW who wrote some information on the William EN(D)SLOW family?

I have been stymied on the ancestry of these EN(D)SLOWs for many years and think that they may have migrated here with some of the families into which they married.

If you know the origin of your SIMISONs, perhaps it will help with our EN(D)SLOWs. My husband's earliest proven ENSLOW ancestor was David ENSLOW who was a half-brother to that William EN(D)SLOW and his full brother Abraham ENSLOW. Abraham's son, John, md. a dau. of our David ENSLOW later on.

Dolores

Roy,

Many THANKS for sending that information on the SIMISON family. It gives me some new ideas for research for that EN(D)SLOW family. Have you tried to do any research into the Donegal, Ireland records for your SIMISON? I wonder if the EN(D)SLOWs might also have come from there???

However, I couldn't access the copy of the will of John SIMISON from the website that you gave. Do you have (or have you made an abstract of ) it?

Warmly, Dolores

I have been an ENSLOW researcher for 40+ years. Thomas Jefferson ENSLOW was b. ca. 1810 in Guernsey Co., OH, the son of David ENSLOW and Rachel VIRGIN.

The record that shows that he md. Eva JONES on 23 Nov 1834 in Scioto Co., OH must be wrong on her name. You say that she was Eva JAMES.

I only have that he md. 2) Sopha ? , but have no dates for this marriage.

Neither do I have the names of any children of either marriage.
Hope this helps in some small way.
