I am looking for any info concerning Susan Enterline born 1855 Lykens Valley. She married my gggrandfather Lafayette Grubb in Liverpool, Pa. Perry county. There may have been some connection with Rev. Enterline and the grubb family. He would come across the river w/ a ferry and occasionally preach at their church in Pfoutz valley in the late 1700s.

She died 1924 in Liverpool an was buried in St. Matthews Luthern church at one time called White Church,Christs Churchand Grubbs Church in Perry Valley.

Dennis,

Thanks for the quick feedback. I talked with dad and mom and unfortunately have little in the way of information, but here goes.

George Paul Enterline was born 7-22-24, in Loretta (sp?) Nebraska. My dad states that his birth certificate states place of birth as Albion (sp? again) Nebraska. These two towns are close together.

Gladys Enterlines granddad (dad?) owned a farm in Loretta that James Pauldine used to work on. The name (of the farm owner) was George Lingel (sp? once more). The Enterlines moved from Nebraska, to Oregon, somewhere around 1944/1945. All dad can remeber is that when he joing the paratroopers in WWII his dad lived in Nebraska, and when he got out of the service in 1945 his dad lived in Oregon.

Hope this helps somewhat. I am trying to contact my sister (she has been in Chicago the last few days) as she supposedly knows a nephew of somekind, in L.A, that may have more information.

Again, thanks.

Greg,
Good to hear from you. I do have a good collection of information on the Enterline ancestry, but still have not been able to connect your branch. If you could get me back one more generation perhaps I could then make a connection. I have James Pauldine as being born about 1905. If I could find out his parents names it would be helpful. Does your father know the names of his Enterline grandparents? I have a listing for a Jonathan T. Enterline living in Nebraska in the 1900 census. Jonathan had just gotten married before that listing which would make him the correct age to be the father of James Pauldine Enterline. If this is your dad's grandfather than I can send you your ancestry back to Michael Anderlein in Germany. Any additional info you would be willing to share on your branch would be welcome.
Denny
dgc@ureach.com

James Paudine Enterline was my fathers dad. My father is George Paul Enterline, who is married to Maxine Jerene (Gant) Enterline. I talked with dad a few nights ago and he was born and raised (until they moved to Oregon) in Nebraska. I believe he said Loretta Nebraska. I would be interested in any geneology that you run across. Also, have you ever researched the family roots. I believe Enterlines came from Germany, and actually spelled the name Enterlein. Any information would be appreciated. Thanks.
Enterline starting with Bavaria

My family line starts with The Rev. John Michael Enterline, native of Bavaria, Germany. Born 1726, ordained to ministry 1751. Imigrated to America with his wife and family in 1768. Died March 1800. Married Anna Barbara Pfeiffer 19 Nov 1760. She died 15 Feb 1782. She was a native of Bavaria. Of their eight children, I descended from the third, John Paul Enterline, born 1 Feb 1767 in Bavaria. Died Apr 1844. His first wife was Charlotte Snoke, who died in 1811, they had 13 children. His second wife was Anna Maria Harmon, daughter of John Philip Harmon. They were married in 1812. She was born 5 Jan 1783 in Lerkenhoff Hanauischen, Germany. She died in 1833. They had seven children, of which my great, great grandfather was the first. (John Paul had a total of 20 children.) My great, great was Daniel, born 23 May 1813, died 1872. Married Lucinda Shives, who was his first wife. He was born in Mifflin Twp., Dauphin Co., PA, and a member of Evangelical Church. My great grandmother was the 8th child, Martha Melinda Enterline, born Oct 1846 and died 1902, who married James Wesley Murphy 25 Jul 1867. They had my grandfather, Myron Meade Murphy, who had my father Meade Eugene Murphy, who had me. Have some info on various siblings along the way.

Enterlines in Pennsylvania

If anyone is interested, I just finished documenting families in the Glenwood Cemetery, Franklin Twp York Co Pennsylvania. There is a Samuel Enterline, son of Samuel and Elizabeth Enterline who died July 3, 1852 at 11 years, 6 months and 2days. This was the only stone with the surname, but many have been vandalized, so I am not sure if the parents reside in the same cemetery. If you need more information, I can check with the local church to see if they have more records.

I'm looking for the ancestors of Carrie Esta Enterline b.09/08/1884, married to Winfield Scott Sturgen/Sturgeon b.10/01/1877. They adopted a Paul Ellis Sturgen b.07/30/1909.They also had 2more boys. George Winston Sturgen b.06/10/1913. William Mark Sturgen b.02/06/1915. This family all originated from Pa.I can find no records on Winfield Sturgen; I believe he changed his name from Sturgeon.(his records were in our Sturgeon family bible). Also, Carrie Enterline shows no ancestors ANYWHERE. I believe she is from Pa., probably Dauphin Co. area. If anyone has any info, it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Re: Enterline Name Origin

Hi David,
We met at last years Enterline reunion.
The name Enterline is an English spelling variation for the German name Enderlein.
The names Anderlein, Enderlein, etc. are derived from St. Andreas thus Ander & Ender.
The "lein" at the end means diminutive thus in English the name Enderlein means "Little Andrew."
