Hi! Theresa Wermerskirchen was the sister of Pauline
Wermerskirchen Koob of Iona, MN. The house Koob
was recently sold. I remember Margaret in her wheelchair as a kid was great just the right level to have a chat with her. I remember as a cheerful church going gal loved by all. Baltos was mentally challenged by lived by himself for years after Margaret died. He even drove a car till he got lost and found himself in Iowa! I know there was a grocery store in Slayton
or Lake Wilson MN that was run by Entingers family
You might check that out and see if its still there .
My Aunt Bernetta recently moved to Slayton Cy Koob
my Uncle lives there also they are elderly so there kids
would have to act as go between and might be able to give you info. I know alot of Germans , Irish and
Luxembourg emmigrants lived in Iona. Marisa

Hi! Your family must be connected somehow to my husband's. My husband's maternal grandmother is Otillia Neid born in 1893 in Murray County, Minnesota. Her parents are Susanna Entinger and Charles Neid. I have read that Susanna died on 14 June 1894 in Iona, Minnesota. Charles and Susanna had several children before Otillia including: Joseph, Katherine Margaret, and Matthew or Mathias. Do you know how Susanna is connected with your family? Any help you can give me would be greatly appreciated.

I keep my genealogical reports at a Family Tree Maker site:

http://familytreemaker.genealogy.com/users/d/e/n/Sandra-Denn...

I am looking forward to future correspondence with you.

Sandy Dennis
Hi Cathy,
I think by what I read you are interested in the Entingers from Pittsburgh. I have Entinger relatives, specifically from Whitehall, Pittsburgh PA. Barbara Entinger was my great grandmother. This is the only information I have on her though.
Born: 22 July 1853 Germany
Died: 24 July 1907 Pittsburgh
Married: Nicolaus Trappen in Germany

Please contact me if you think there is a connection. Thanks.

Best Regards,
Chris Shuble

Hi Cathy,
Thanks for writing back. My Entingers came from Germany also. However, I really know nothing more about Barbara before her marriage to my great grandfather Jacob Trappen.

When they first came to this country, I'm pretty sure they went first to Elizabeth, PA. Which is outside of Pittsburgh and near a place called McKessport. Monesson, Mon Valley,
any of these place are all near each other. Then they moved to Whitehall PA. I do have a picture of her if we find out that we are related and you would want a copy.

I have other Entinger relatives that lived near Pleasant Hills PA, again around the same area. They were Fritz and Freida Entinger. Her maiden name was Nix. Anyway, Frieda was my Godmother but that is about all I know of them. They are both dead now.

If you want to contact me off the message board, please write to cshuble@adelphia.net I tried reaching you at the email I saw listed for you, keithandcathy@sc.rr.com however it would not go through. Is this your correct email?

Hope to hear from you soon.
Chris

Thank you very much for your response and for the information. It does look like this may be the Michael and Peter for whom I was looking (ages match) - do wish that there were a connection to Mathias (b Sept 1861), but perhaps there isn't one. Will let you know if I find it. Thanks again.

I have a little more info on my Entingers from the 1910 PA census. Mathias (47 - born Germany) w/wife Elizabeth (42 - b. Germany) and 8 children (oldest born Germany others in PA). Must have arrived in US between 1890 and 1892.

Mike Entinger is also listed as a head of household (49 - b. Germany) w/wife Mary (45 - b. Germany) and 3 children (all b. PA) and one non-relative. They must have arrived in US prior to 1887-1888.

Mathias is listed in Allegheny Co and Mike in Monessen, West Moreland Co. But, I know that many of my relatives on that side of the family were from Washington and West Moreland Cos. Considering possibility that Mathias and Mike are brothers?

Hi Chris,
Thanks for writing. My grandmother, Margaret Entinger, had a sister by the name of Barbara, but she was not born until June 1899. I believe that their parents - Mathias and Elizabeth - arrived in the US in 1893. The interesting question then is whether your Barbara is the sister of Mathias (born September 16, 1861 in Germany), which would explain naming his daughter Barbara, or whether she is related to the Westmoreland group of Entingers (head of family; Michael). There may still be a connection between the two families, but I have not yet found it. Do you have any more info on where in the Pittsburgh area your Barbara lived?
Cathy

Kerri, Thank you so much!!!! I am so excited to finally know Mathias's parents' names and their locality in Germany. I can't tell you how much I appreciate the fact that you took the time to check the tape for Mathias and to let me know about it. Please let me know if I can return the favor. I am in South Carolina, so let me know if you ever need anything looked up in this area. Cathy

I am still trying to make a connection between my great-grandfather, Mathias Entinger, and any of the other Entinger families being researched.

I currently have the following info:
Mathias (age 47) with family and Michael (49) with family are the only Entingers in the Pittsburgh area on the 1910 PA MIRACODE index.

I now have - from Ellis Island records - a Peter Entinger (age 44) who arrived NY 1903 to stay with his brother Michael in Scottdale, Westmoreland Co, PA (outside of Pittsburgh). Peter's last residence was Weierweiler, Germany.

Does anyone else have an Entinger connecting to Weirweiler?

Thank you for your reply regarding Peter Entinger, made in response to a posting by "AL". The Peter who came here in the 1800s with wife Kathryn & several children is ours. I do not have the Passenger & Immigration Index you mention. Is it possible for you to copy & e-mail the particular listing on this family to me?

Marlene
empori6573@aol.com

You wrote: "I know that Jacob Sr. and his cousin Peter were members of the Kaizer guard, were awarded the Iron Cross and came here. Peter deserted and left with Jacob."

Our Peter Entinger was born 1826 Germany & came with his wife & children to America approx 1880. He went west to WI & IA, where he died in 1900. Many of his descendants live in MN. My son-in-law is one of them. We have no idea who his parents were, etc. Family history has it that in Germany he served in the 9th Richmond Hussars & in 1867 was awarded 2 medals by the King of Baden. In 1870 & 71 he was emmisary of the regiment.

If this appears to be the Peter Entinger that would be brother to Jacob, please let me know.

Thanks.
I have international shipping records that show Peter Entinger coming to America in May of 1903 on the ship Zeeland from Antwerp. He was coming to join his brother Michael who was my Great Grandfather. He was supposed to be in Scottsdale Pa when Peter joined him. I also have records of Peter Entinger arriving in Chicago in 1880 with his family of Son Mathias, daughter Susanna, wife Katharina Schangel, daughter Margarethe, and son Peter. There must have been a number of Peters coming to America about the same time. My record of the 1903 arrival is from Ellis Island. The other information comes from Passenger and Immigration Index, 1500s-1900s from Genealogy.com. Hope this helps you.

Hello,
I think I found your Matthias Entinger. I still have the LDS tape. I went back and looked for a Matthias in September 1861. I found a Matthias Entinger ( B. on September 16, 1861). His parents were Joanne Philipp Richard Entinger and Maria Barth of Oberthailen. I believe I have the spelling correct. It was somewhat difficult to read. Maybe they are cousins to the the other Entinger family. The town is located near Weierweiler. Let me know if you have any questions. Hope this helps you.

Kerri

Hello,
I think I can help you. I am researching Schneiders from the Weierweiler area. I have a Catharina Schneider (sister to my gggrandfather) married to a Nicolaus Entinger. Here is my info:

Catharina Schneider married Nicolaus Entinger on February 7, 1853. They had the following children:

Magdalena (B. on March 21, 1854)
Barbara (B. on May 1, 1855 and died on May 12, 1859)
Maria (B. on May 17, 1857)
Peter (B. on January 2, 1859)
Michael (B. on December 20, 1860)
Catharina ( B. on January 20, 1863)
Angela ( B. on December 16, 1864)
Elisabetha ( B. on November 27, 1866)
Nicolaus ( B. on August 1, 1869)

I found this info on the LDS film for Weiskirchen. I do not have a Matthias listed. Let me know if you have any questions.

I am glad I was able to help you. I found some more info for you. I just happened to look at a website that was very helpful to me. I was able to find my entire Schneider family. I found the parents of your Matthias. The only difference is they spell the name Enzinger. I am sure it would have to be the same two people. Here is the website:

http://db.genealogy.net/ofb/ofb_search.cgi?ofb=hochwald&...

Try it and let me know how it goes. Just wanted to pass it along to you. I was so excited when I found this site.

Kerri in Michigan
