Almeda L Brewton, a native of Jackson County MS, a resident of Mobile for the past eighteen years, died yesterday at her home, 18 St Emanuel Street. She was ill but a short time. Mrs Brewton is survived by three sons, Royal R, Joseph, and Mark Brown; and two daughters, Mrs E L Gentry and Mrs E L Hillberg, of this city; one sister, Mrs Elizabeth Reeder, and three brothers, George Entrekin, Captain John Entrekin of Biloxi MS, and Captain J E Entrekin, of Mobile; one sister-in-law, Mrs E Entrekin of Waynesboro MS, and a large family connection. The remains were taken to Pascagoula this morning.

*I believe the surname of her sons is incorrect and should be BREWTON.

Their children were Sylvester T. b. April 6 1908 d. January 1972, Donald C. b. October 8 1910 d. December 24 1988, Margaret B. b. at 1913, John N. b. June 9 1916 d. May 26 2006, and Allen D. b. November 7 1919 d. December 1971.

Alfred B Entriken, Chester Co., PA

My GG Grandfather was Alfred B Entriken from Chester Co., PA. I am looking for information on Alfred (1844-1919) and Henry Entriken (his brother). I have found out that Henry was in the Civil War from 4/1861 to ? (age 20 so born in 1840) and then from 10/1861 to 7/1865. Alfred was in from 9/13/1862 to 9/28/1862 (though he registered in Media, Delaware Co.), along with numerous other Entrikens from the area who only entered for those 2 weeks, and then he re-entered from 6/1863 to 8/1863 (probably for Gettysburg). Alfred's headstone has his wife as Zilla S. and his mother is Ellen S. Ellen's last name is believed to be Tweed and Zilla's was Sapp. The problem is we haven't tracked records for Alfred and Henry's father and he wasn't buried at the same site. Alfred and Zilla had Clarence Sapp (my G Grandfather), Rebecca, Ida, George Henry, and Alfred Bent. My Dad believes that Alfred's Father was Henry.

There is extensive records on the Internet for Samuel and George Entriken's families back to the early 1700's because they owned land and their ancestors did a lot of research. We can't figure why there aren't records for Henry and Alfred except that maybe they didn't own land.

Any help would be appreciated. We know that Alfred and Henry are cousins to the other Chester Co Entriken's, but how?

Nancy is my gggrandmother she m Albert Burgess Nov. 15, 1868, Tippah Co., Ms. Her parents were John & Mary Abernathy Entrekin. But this is all I know about her. the last census I found them was 1910 - I have now idea where they died or where buried - any information will be greatly appreciated.

Ellisville, Miss.- The funeral for Mrs. Mary Sue Entrekin, 90, was held Wednesday at Ellisville United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Ron Barham officiating. Burial was in Ellisville Cemetery, Jones Funeral Home, Ellisville, directing.
She died Monday, Sept 7, 1987.
She was a member of Ellisville United Methodist Church, a former school teacher, a retired clerk of Carter-Heidi Department Store in Laurel & the widow of William B. Entrekin.
Survivors include daughters, Mrs. Sara Morgan, Mrs. Nelle Artz, both of Mobile, Ala.; sister, Mrs. Nancy Yarbrough, Treasure Island, Fla.; two grandchildren; two great-grandchildren.

On behalf of Hildegard Hopkins, I am searching for information on SARAH
ENTRIKEN and her husband SAMUEL HOPKINS married in West Chester, PA 15
December 1802. Samuel said to be the father of Joseph Hopkins of West
Chester PA and Jefferson City, MO. Samuel & Sarah found in the
Marietta, Lancaster Co PA censuses. Samuel born c.1776 died in 1871, Sarah died
1869. There is an abstract 1811 will for a Samuel Entriken in East
Bradford, but no mention of a daughter. There was an Ezekiel Hopkins s/o
William mentioned in his 1768 will. The 1800 census shows some Hopkins in
Oxford & East Bradford. Would be interested to learn the parentage and
siblings of Samuel & Sarah (Entriken) Hopkins. Am trying to confirm if
the above Joseph (wife Frances) is a son of Samuel & Sarah and then, if
so, go further back from there. Don't think there's been any work done
on the supposed Entriken connection, except by one Hopkins researcher,
but the censuses do show Samuel & Sarah together. Joseph, if he is a
son of Samuel and Sarah, married and in Indiana by 1850 with a wife
and children.

Found an interesting thing on the 1870 census for Arkansas.THey have listed a Sarah
Short age 6, born LA, with some Entrekins and some Johnsons... but no Shorts.

THey also have on another Sarah Short with the same people aged 6 who is born in
Ark.

My question is that why would this one little girl Short, show up in Ark with Johnsons
and Entrekins. The Entrekins are related but how do the Johnsons fit in?

Census rolls are 1870 from Brown Towwnship..
There are two sisters (?) last name Johnson, Martha and Sarah 16 and 14
respectively who are grouped with this little girl. They are from Louisiana on them.
The Entrekins are from Tennessee.

Anyone have a clue?

Mrs. Edith WHELAN, wife of G. V. WHELAN, a sign painter and
wood grainer at 1502 Main Street, died Saturday night in Lucerne,
Mo., where she was visiting her daughter, Mrs. Agnes SMITH.
Mrs. WHELAN was 63 years old. She was born in Springfield, Mo.,
and came to Kansas City in 1865, where she had lived since.
Surviving besides her husband and daughter are two other daughters,
Mrs. Minnie ENTREKIN, 419 Greeley Avenue, Kansas side, and
Mrs. Mattie VIOLA of Abilene, Kas., and two sons, Fred WHELAN,
Dallas, Tex., and Harry WHELAN of Dos Palos, Cal. The funeral
services will be held at 2:30 tomorrow afternoon from the home,
623 Kensington Avenue. Burial will be in Forest Hill Cemetery.

I have no idea what her maiden name was or when John Frank was born. I know that he died in 1976 in Braxton, MS. My grandfather, Leo Frank, was born on May 11, 1925 and died on October 6, 1987. According to my tree, 3 brothers from Wales, John, Thomas, and Samuel, settled in Penn. about 1742 There is a town named Entrekin. There had been a mix up in the mail, and Chester Entrekin, Thomas's fourth generation grandson, chenged the e&i around making Entriken.

I have found some info on Sarah Adelia Entrekin since my last post here.
She had a brother named Thomas Entrekin who was blind and a preacher. I believe his full name is Thomas Sheridan Entrekin. Their father's name is Charles Fergusen Entrekin who married Mary E. Seal on Apr. 21, 1876.
Charles F. Entrekin was married before this to a Nancy Broome in abt 1870. I have no info on this marriage.
Thomas S. Entrekin was born on aug. 20, 1878 in Purvis, Lamar/Marion Co., MS.
Would appreciate any info on this family.

Cathy Jo Willig: Your gggrandmother may be one of 18 children in her family. Jimmy Entrekin of Mt. Zion, Carroll Co, GA m. my greatgrandmother's younger sister, who was a Martin. They had a large family, and one of his sons, James Martin Entrekin, had 18 kids with two sets of twins in the bunch. There was a Nancy in this family, and if Rosa is correct, she married a Stone. Hi--

Does anyone have any notations on an Entrekin family being related to (or close friends) a Lamon family in Philadelphia, PA area between 1860-1880? Close enough to take in the son after parents apparently died and raise him as one of their own?

Name of child was William Entrekin LaMon (or Lamon). William married a woman by the name of Dagmar Elizabeth Becker. They had at least 3 children-- 2 daughters born approx. 1888/89 and then one son, William Entrekin Lamon, Jr born circa 1897. William,Sr and Dagmar divorced about 1900 and William, Jr went to a private Catholic home in Philly.

Any info on the Entrekin (possibly William) in Philadelphia during 1860-1900 period would be appreciated! My cousin is searching for her family lines and cannot locate much info because of so many changes in custody of children.

She was born on 11-28-1877 and died on 1-22-1912. She lived in Moreland Georgia. She was married to William Jackson Beckom on 12-16-1894. They had 12 children. The Rev Leland B. Entrekin, 64, for many years a radio and television personality in Phoenix, died last night in his Mesa home at 216 S. Allen St.
The Rev Mr. Entrekin was born in Arkansas and came to the Valley when he was 14 years old.
He founded the Heart-to-Heart Hour Chapel at 3200 N. 7th St. about 23 years ago. For more than 30 years he conducted a Heart-to-Heart Hour radio program over KTAR and for several years, presented a television program called Pastor's Study.
Funeral Service are pending at A. L. Moore and Sons Mortuary.
In addition to his wife Donna Mae, he is survived by two sons, Captain Philip in the U.S. Army and Leland V. of Tucson; 3 daughters, Mrs. Donna Murdock of Eloy, Mrs. Priscilla Woods of Phoenix and Mrs. Beverly Clark of Mesa; two sisters, Mrs. Margueritte Toombs of Pasadena, CA and Mrs. Vera Hubbard of Phoenix, a brother Albert of Alhambra, CA and 13 grandchildren.
