Jemima Wood ENYARD

I am looking for information on Jemima Wood ENYARD who married Jacob SIMONSON, son of Jacob SIMONSON and Adrianne POILLON, on January 1, 1832. According to SIMONSON family history, she was born November 20, 1814, in Bayonne, NJ and died August 11, 1840, in Staten Island, NY. I suspect that she is the granddaughter of Nicholas ENYARD and Jemima WOOD but have not yet made that connection. Jacob SIMONSON and Jemima Wood ENYARD had the following children:

1. Mary Jane SIMONSON b. Oct 18, 1832, m. Jun 3, 1852 Abraham VAN BUSKIRK, d. Sep 1921

2. Jacob SIMONSON b. Aug 22, 1834, d. 1850

3. Frances Simonson b. Aug 2, 1836, m. (1) John CHADWICK and (2) Richard CADMUS, d. Feb. 1893

4. Cornelius Britton SIMONSON b. Mar 12, 1838, d. 1861 on a war vessel in the Civil War.

Early Enyart genealogy

I have spent a few months (and many, many hours) online finding all the information that I can on the Enyeart, Enyart family. There are about 6 ways that the name is spelled. From the information I have found and put together and most of it is documented online, Carel Injort came to American from Holland with his wife, possibly named Tryntie (Catharine) and three small children. Yellis is the only one we seem to have any information on. Could the other two have a different spelling that we don't know about? Yellis married Elsje (Alice) Van Woggelum granddaughter of Caniachkoo, chief of the third castle, turtle clan, Mohawk indian ( here's where the name Pieterz or pieterson comes in). They had children John, Anna, Christina, annette, Charles. Yellis married a second time to Tryntie (Catharina) Vlierboom and had one child, Mathys. My line comes down through John (indian onions ?) Enyart who married (possibly cousin through the Pieterz) Mary (Pieterson) Darlin (Darlin was her name from a first marriage). Thier son David who married a women named Elizabeth. No last name is known. David changed the name to Enyeart. Then down through William who married Jane Norris. This is what I have found and none of it is my own work but it makes sense. The census takers spelled the name the way it sounds so I'm sure this is how it was changed so many times. There is an Enyeart board on ancestry. com also. Thanks to all the people that have put so much time and effort (and money too) into finding the history.

Kentucky Enyard (Enyart) connection

My Grandfather was John Robert Enyard born in Taylor county Kentucky in 1885. He ws married to Tiny Elizabeth Tucker in Campbellsville, Taylor Co., KY Jan 1, 1910. They made their home in Knifley, Adair co KY. His father was George Enyard and Laura A Christerson (married 1881). He and Mary were children of George and Laura. George remarried Nancy E ? and had other children later-Frank etc. My mon said her grandpa George talked of his ancestors coming from Lincoln Co KY.

I see a John Inyard married to a Polly Richards in the early 1800s and a John in the 1810, 20, 30, and 40 census for Lincoln Co. In 1850 I see Polly listed with Catherine, Abram and Samuel. In 1860 I See Abram with a family of Mary E, George and John R. Samuel is with the Bastin Family. In 1870 I see a George (11) in Neatsville Adair KY with another family and a William (8)living with the Bastin family in Lincoln Co.

In 1880 I see a George Enyart in Casey Creek Adair KY at 23yrs and a servant with the Monday Family. I also see a George, Nick and Will Inyard (15,17 and 17 years old)in Lincoln county boarding with three different families. I see a William in later census records in Spurlington, TAylor KY. I also see a John and Barbara Inyard in the 1900 and 1910 Lincoln county Census.

Can anyone on this board shed any light on what I am seeing in these census records. I'm a little confused at the moment.

I am looking for the descendants of Richard B. Chiles and Permelia G. Enyart Chiles three oldest children. Richard, Emily and Lucy, all born in Missouri. I am a decendant of their youngest son Logan W. Richard and Permelia died when the children were young and my greatgrandfather (Logan W) went to Nebraska to live with Permelia brother Logan. Two of the children are mentioned as attending Logan Enyarts funeral. So we know they were in the Nebraska area at one time. (also worth mentioning, Logan Enyarts first wife was Lucy Ann Chiles, Richards sister) If you have any information on these folks, would love to correspond.

Lorelei Redmond
Divorce of Ebenezer Best Enyart / Zetta Dee Tedford

I'm trying to locate the date and place (County and State) of the divorce of my Grandmother, ZETTA DEE TEDFORD from her first husband, EBENEZER BEST ENYART, JR. They were married in Macon Co., Missouri on 09 February 1902. They had five children, two children died as infants and the other three lived to adulthood. Eben and Zetta moved to Texas soon after their marriage. By December, 1914 she was divorced and remarried to husband #2, JOHN DIXON WILSON, and had given birth to her first child by husband #2 in Tulsa, Oklahoma. It appears that Zetta and John were married in late 1913 or early 1914, (date unknown), probably in Oklahoma. If you know of any information that can assist me, please contact me. Thanks, Thel Curtis

Hi All,
Looking for information on Cora Mae Enyeart, possibly born in 1875 Ohio and died 1959, Michigan. Buried in Lake City, MI. She was married to Miles Cole. Lived in Monroe, MI for a time. Have no definative proof that her last name was Enyeart, it is said she may have been a Mennonite and come from Ohio. Her family is said to have disowned her for marrying out of her faith. Looking for information on the Ohio Enyearts, Ohio Mennonites and possibly a link with the name Baldwin, Balwin, Bowen? Any help in direction, sites, places to start would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Guessing from the style it's about 1910-1920.

Postcard was purchased in a lot near Knoxville, TN, an area where I know there are lots of Enyart/Enyards.

If this is your guy, I've got his photo, notes, and signature and would like to get it back to the family.

billie@tnhillbillie.net

David/Abraham Enyart

Trying to make the connection. According to my mother's research, David Enyart born ca. 1775 was married to Rachel Titus. His father was Abraham Enyart married to Rachel Swain(Swaim?). David and Rachel had a daughter named Ann(Anna?) Elizabeth Enyart who was my ggggrandmother however, I can find no history of her existance. She married John Moberly (Mobley?). Out of that union came Elvira Moberly who was my gggrandmother. On the Enyart side I can go back no further than Abraham and Rachel Swaim and I cannot verify Ann Elizabeth ever existed. Can anybody help? Greatly appreciate it.

Carl
ENGARD

For those of you who have hit "brick walls", please know there were several immigrants before 1800 using these spelling variations.

The ENGHART/ENGERTT immigrants' surnames changed to every variation but "UP", including INGER as found in Mt. Holly, Burlington Co., NJ where Adam INGER resided and named the following children in his Will: John, William, Adam, Barbara, Martha, & Catherine.

Adam (Sr.) was the son of Philip ENGHART/ENGERT/ENGARD who immigrated to America in 1728.

Adam (Jr.) is thought to be the one who married Sarah ROGERS in 1816, Burlington Co., NJ.

This line is actively being researched as we speak. A particular researcher is hired periodically to give us a boost. So if you think you could have descended from this group, please email me. This line may be the ENGARDS who are tied in with the STOKES, HILLIARDS, & WOOLSTANS.

Gerre Engard Byrd
ggengard@aol.com

ENGARD-CORSON

Here's a puzzle for you to solve.

Philadelphia, PA 1840 - Margaret ENGARD is in N. Mulberry with 1 son under 5 and a dau. 5-10.

There is a Margaret living with Benjamin CORSON in the 1850 census for Montgomery Co., PA. Benjamin was born abt 1775. Margaret about 1805. Albert ENGARD is 13 in same household.

In Philadelphia, PA 1850 (censuses dated several weeks apart) is Margaret ENGARD with (dau.) Adaline, age 15.

(It's possible for your ancestor to be in several different household in one census year if he/she was visiting other folks the day the census taker arrived.)

In Philadelphia, PA 1860, Margaret is labeled a "widow" with children Albert and Adaline in household and also John LEVAND, & Robert & Mary COYLE.

In 1870, still N. Mulberry, Philadelphia, PA, Margaret is found with dau. Adaline.

Question: What ENGARD did Margaret CORSON marry?

Keep in mind, Benjamin is from a long line of CORSONs who were in NY with the ENYARTs. A descendant of Carel ENYART, Charles, is said to have migrated down into the Phila. area, actually Bucks Co., PA. His son is in Bucks Co., PA also, but then appears to migrate to Philadelphia, PA and appears to be the one leaving a Will in Montgomery Co., PA.

In the CORSON family history, Margaret is not listed as having a husband. But I believe this above information counters that thought.

So, who did Margaret marry?

Gerre Engard Byrd
ggengard@aol.com

I am searching for George Washington Enyarts' mother. He was born in Lewis Co Ky ( according to the marriage bond) and his mother in Ohio I have two Georges' in Boyd Co Ky in 1870. One is married to Mahala and (mine) is married to Elizabeth White. In 1850 He is living with Elizabeth Johnson and William age 39 George W. 6 and Mary Enyart age 31 I feel William / Elizabeth/ and Mary are his sisters as Mary later marries Murdock C. Bryson.
