Ephraim Enzor

After a lot of investigation, I have a hypothesis on who might be the parents of Ephraim Enzor and would like to know if others might have any information to support the hypothesis. My hypothesis is that Jemima Ensor (b abt. 1765 and daughter of George Ensor and Jemima Bond) and Abraham Ensor Jr. (born abt. 1757) are the out-of-wedlock parents of Ephraim. This would mean that Ephraim was raised by his mother Jemima and grandparents George Ensor and Jemima Bond. Jemima and Abraham did marry after Abraham was married to Bethier Brooks for about 28 years. After Jemima and Abraham married, they finished raising Abraham's and Bethier's children and died within 2 months of each other. Following is circumstantial evidence supporting this hypothesis: Jemima Ensor would have been about 21 years old when Ephraim was born in 1786 while Abraham would have been about 29 years old implying that they were about the right age. Ephraim named many of his children after who would have been his aunts and great aunts (i.e., Honor, Sarah, and Mary). This would be too coincidental. Abraham went on to marry Bethier Brooks in 1787 which was the year after Ephraim was born and began having children in 1788 or 2 years after Ephraim was born (i.e., Ephraim's birth date fits well between the events). Bethier was significantly younger than Abraham. Abraham is a name similar to Ephraim. Ephraim left Baltimore County and married Mercy Hess shortly after George Ensor died in 1804. There seems to be no record of Ephraim's parents, his birth and no mention of them in any of the letters that I have obtained. There is some connection with the Chilcote's in Pennsylvania. His great aunt Elizabeth married James Chilcote in Maryland.

Would appreciate any comments or feedback!
Seems like a lot of coincidents!
Patti,
I get the census through ancestry. com I get all the census. Do you have any instant messagers. I have both aol and msm. I was wondering if it would be easier to communicate through that. I don't know if I told you,but the John Ida Enzor who married Elizabeth Meek is William Meek's sister. William married Nanncy Enzor. Their father is Robert Meek. I have my Meek line all the way back to 1732. Well let me know about the instant. Oh just got done reading the book this morning its fascinating. Thanks again.
Amy

Hi Amy, I lost Ephraim Jr. all I have is up to 1849 for sure in DeKalb Co. In I think he is there in 1854 also. I found a marriage to a Mary Perkey, also DeKalb. But then the next time I know is 1870 in Pottawatomie Co Ks. I can't find any children and I know there has to be or I wouldn't be! He was married to Cynthia Bower in 1849, I have no idea if they had children. I have also found a cousin, who just added one more whole. She know's David Hess and Mercy(the sister)had a half brother. Augh!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!. I will keep you updated. Thanks so much for looking. Where did you find the site. There was someone else looking for that year census. Take Care
Patti
