A group of relatives with roots in Campbell County Kentucky have been trying to determine were my great great grand father Peter Enzweiler b 1816 and his second family may have gone after 1871. He married his second wife Johanna, aka Anna, aka Annie, Geismann in 1862. They had children: Michael b 1862, Mathias b 1864, Joseph b 1867, Peter b 1868 and Susanna b 1871. Peter and his horse are on the Campbell County tax roll in 1871 but they all seem to disappear after that listing.

Peter is the brother of Wilhelm b 1821 who immigrated to Campbell County Ky in 1852. He move to Lake County Ind in the 1856-60 time frame and then on to Chicago about 1865. Our family lore indicates that Peter's second wife did not get along with the children from his first marriage so he and she left for St Louis and were never heard from again. Well, they spent at least ten years in Campbell County before any move. We have not found any indication that they were ever in St Louis. They sure seem to have evaporated. Peter was 55 when he disappears so we would think that if he and his family moved there had to be something for them at the end of the trek such as land, a job, or a close relative.

Have any of the Enzweiler relatives come across any rumor or trace of our Peter and his family after 1871?
