Missouri Eoffs-Bershaba Eoff

My name is Thomas Wilson and I am a distant blood descendant of the Missouri Eoffs, in particular Bathsheba (Bershaba) Eoff, daughter of George Eoff and grandaughter of Peter Eoff. Bershaba married William Cole in Franklin County, Missouri. They had several children, including a daughter named Nancy Cole, who married John Lee Summers in Franklin County, Missouri. My grandmother was one of their their daughters -- Martha Ellen Summers. This would make Bershaba Eoff my GG Grandmother !

I have been researching our family ancestry for a couple years now, so I guess that still makes me a novice, but I think I'm making quite a bit of progress. I still have much work to do !

I was hoping someone might be able to share some source documents on the Eoff family, such as family history articles, phtos, stories or biographical information on the earlier Eoff immigrants in New Jersey down to the mid-1800 time period to help me gather some documentation for my research. I would appreciate any records you might be able to provide. In particular, I would like to obtain a copy of the article "THE EOFF FAMILY OF PLUCKEMIN", SOMERSET COUNTY HISTORICAL QUARTERLY VII, 284-93 (1918).

I would also like to obtain a copy of Jacob Eoff's will if possible. I have a "thing" about old, original documents and I love to include them in my work if possible. Of course, anything else you think would be useful would be tremendously appreciated as well.

If you can email me any documents, my email address is twilson.mail@mchsi.com.

Thank you in advance. I hope you will be able to help me !
Clarissa (Davis) Eoff in Jefferson Co., MO

I am looking for info about Clara/Clarissa (Davis) Eoff after the death of her husband, Thomas Eoff. On the 1880, Jefferson Co., MO census, she is listed as a widow and the head of the family. That's the last that I know about her.
On the 1900 Jeff. Co. (Meramec Twp.) census, there is a Clara C. Clifford listed as a widow and head of the family. With her is a son named William Eoff. He is the same age as my Clara's son. Are Clara Eoff and Clara Clifford the same person?
From the Board Admin

Hi. I'm fairly new as administrator of this board, and thought I'd introduce myself and let you know a few things.
You may already know that this board is gatewayed to the Eoff mailing list. I don't know if that was always the case, but it is now. Also, there a few "rules" that I'm supposed to talk to you about. Sorry..... :o)
The first one is pretty important. When you type up your message, either new or reply, please put the surnames that are in your message in the surname box. Not all those you are researching, just those you're talking about. And, please separate them with a comma... not a / , not a - , or a * , or anything else. This is for the convenience of the archives that are referenced by surname.
The rest are the common ones. Don't flame anyone, don't send spam, make sure your messages are on topic, the usual. So far, I haven't found any problems on this score, just want to mention it.
As for anything else, if you need to reach me for any reason, my address is carlette@mail.com, and if you lose that one, it's there if you click on links and announcements.
Thanks,
Carlette

John Calvin Eoff - Texas

Good Morning Everyone,
I am just starting to look at the Eoff folks. In the 1910 census of Fannin Co., Texas there is the John Calvin Eoff family:
Calvin Eoff - head - 37 - md1 (16 yrs) - Ark-Tn-Mo - Farmer
Mary - wife - 33 - md1 (16 yrs) - 9/9 - Ky-Ky-Ky
Julia - daughter - 15 - 2 - Tx-Ark-Ky
Horace - son - 12 - s - Tx-Ark-Ky
Emma - daughter - 10 - s - Tx-Ark-Ky
Nora - daughter - 9 - s - Tx-Ark-Ky
Guy - son - 7 - s - Tx-Ark-Ky
Fannie - daughter - 5 - s - Tx-Ark-Ky
Jack - son - 4 - s - Tx-Ark-Ky
gladys - daughter - 2 - s - Tx-Ark-Ky
J. Calvin - son - 2/12 - s - Tx-Ark-Ky
I have not found them yet in the 1920 or 1930 census.

I believe that John Calvin's parents were Stephen Eoff and Margaret Lucinda McMillen. Margaret Lucinda apparently died and Stephen then married her younger sister Rebecca. In the 1910 census Stephen and Rebecca indicate they have been married 31 years which would mean a marriage date of 1879. Since John Calvin was born in 1872 Margaret had to be his mother. So far I think that Stephen and Margaret had 3 children: Mary Frances, Frances J., and John Calvin. In the 1910 census Rebecca indicates that she has had 2 children with 1 living. So far I have not figured out who that child might be.

Any assistance really appreciated - Thanks so much - Emma

Virginia,
I am very interested in your Eoff family. I have some information on them including some after the move to
Oklahoma. I don't know much about Julia Ann Eoff (is that
the right name?) who was a daughter of John David Eoff
and Nancy Tackett. Do you know anything about her?
I have copies of a document that gives the names of these
children who went to live with the Tackett grandparents.
I would be glad to type out a copy of it for you. It had to do
with the death of Henry "Mack" Eoff.

Shirley M.
Eoff Family - Arkansas/Oklahoma/Tennessee

Some of the names in your messages are very tantalizing, as though the same families kept intermarrying (E.g., Eoff-Nichols-Curnutt). My great-great grandfather was John Jackson Eoff (Jackson County, TN) m. Cynthia Caroline Nichols. Great-grandfather was Garrett B. Eoff (Harrison, AR) m. Mary Olive Beller; grand-father Walter Ernest Eoff m. Leslie Myrtle Curnutt; father James Horton Eoff m. Caroline Allen. The mother of Walter Ernest Eoff was Mary Olive Beller, daughter of J.I.P. Beller and Sarah Brown (AR). Have we any ancesters in common or other useful information?

Wow! What an intense site. It's great to see so many Eoffs sharing information. I feel kind of silly - I'm very new at this and many of you have info going back to the 1700s! Good work! Does anyone have info on Michael? I was born in 1968 to Kimberly Loughborough and Michael David Eoff. He was 19 at the time and this was in Los Angeles. He was a truck driver for a fish hatchery. That is all I know (from my birth certificate) except that I was told he was not my biological father. I would still like to know all I can and would really like to get in touch with him or anyone who can tell me anything about...ohhh...anything! I have no contact with any family members at all (mother deceased-most of her family deceased or not known by me). I've carried his name all my life and would really like to connect a person to the name. Please reply to message board. Thanks!

Hi everyone my name is Jean DeClue. I am looking for information on a Nancy Eoff who married Jass Huskey about 1863 or 1864. Their son my grandfather William Jasper Huskey was born Feb 1865 in Morris Mill Mo. Can you help me find them I'm not sure what the Jass is short for. I found this info in my mothers family bible. I know my grandfather married Ellen Shipley and they resided in Bliss Mo. in Washington County. I think he had a brother named Dilly Lafeyette Huskey. I was told he died in 1902 and is buried in Fletcher Misssouri. I'm not sure if their were other children. If anyone has any information on this lady please let me know. Thanks so much .
I'm sure you are all probably aware of this, but there is an extensive bulletin board for Eoff at genforum.com. Also, there is an Eoff family website which has tons of information and history. I've lost the address, but you can do a metasearch and it will pop up. From what I've picked up all of us Eoffs are related and are descendants of Jacob Eoff who came to the US in the 18th century.

I am looking for information on Francis Ann Eoff. She married Elmer Tygart in 1916. She had 3 children: Agnes, Jack, Lila Mae. I would appreciate any information that you can share with me.
