Andrew J. Epley and Jesse Epley

Coffee Co. TN Historical Society is working on a book about our county's Civil War soldiers. Two of them were Andrew J. Epley and Jesse Epley (brothers?) who enlisted together at Knoxville 5 Aug 1861 in Co. I of the 34th Confed. TN Infantry. According to their military records, Jesse died in hospital at Knoxville 25 Jun 1862, while Andrew died 1 Jul 1863 in middle TN.

Coffee Co. Census record 1860 shows Andrew married to Cynthia Green with children Monroe, Elizabeth and Mary. We have been unable to find accurate records of the parents of Andrew and Jesse Epley and wonder if anyone can help us with this information. We are trying to make our book as accurate as possible. If you have any information about these two men, would you please contact me directly at eljefe@charter.net. Thanks very much for your consideration. Pat Berges, Publications Editor, Coffee Co. Historical Society

My great great uncle John Epley lived in the St. Louis, MO area. There are a huge number of Epleys in the Hannibal, MO area & Kinderhook, IL area. My grandfather was Carl Albert Epley married to Martha Marie Owens. They had 9 children, of who Donald Eugene Eples is my father, there are other branches of the Epley family here in the same town.

Am looking for any info on E.A. Epley (went by the name of Bud) in Missouri or Arkansas. He was born probably before 1865 or so. He died somewhere between 1895-1900, either in MO or AR. He married Mrs. Mary Elizabeth Butler (1857-IL) on 18 Jan 1886 in Poplar Bluff, Butler, Missouri. Family moved back and forth from SE Missouri to NE Arkansas. This is my brick wall so any information would be appreciated.
Thanks

I have Samuel M Eppley b. 1830 VA d. 1913 MO (parents Jacob Epley/Elizabeth Hoffman) back 4 generations to a family in which most but not all branches now spell their name Eppley. Here's my page for him - http://trees.ancestry.com/tree/19952547/family?cfpid=1929180...

Note there is a Y DNA surname project for Apley, Appley, Epley, Eppley males. http://www.familytreedna.com/public/epley/
I hope more men with these surnames will join so that we can separate the Eppleys/Epleys branches that start in colonial PA!

Hi Bobby?! George's parents were John W Epley born 1835 in Tennessee and Matilda Epley born 1842 in Missouri. They lived in Wayne County, MO at the time of the 1870 Census and likely moved there somewhere around 1863 during the civil war draft. There are a bunch of John Epley's who served on side of Union but i have not yet been able to determine if any are our great great grandfather. There is not enough info for most of them. There is 1 John W Epley but he was born in Illinois so that can't be him. same age and lived in same place though so i'm curious if the document is wrong on be birth place. i am trying to find John W Epley's father, but the Census prior to 1850 just have the name of Head of Household and the number of family members but no other names or info. Right now i'm at a brick wall it seems but i just started a couple weeks ago.

Hi David,
I missed your message back from 2005. My name is Ingrid and I was searching for Thomas Epley b 1888 & Margaret Russell. I was wondering if you could confirm that Daniel Epley b 1862, is his dad. I'm trying to figure out who Daniel's parents are. I thought it was Goodlive Eppley and Catherine Harsch. Someone just told me that it could be Peter & Elzina Epley. I was wondering if you could help me.

I'm also trying to figure out Margaret's mom Ellanora Ball, the info I have is from the marriage of Thomas & Margaret. However on the website findagrave.com, it's notes her as Ella Bell. I understand there is a connection to the Ball canning jar family.

If Thomas is your grandfather then you are my 2nd cousin. Who are your parents?

Please email me when you get a chance
indianajones818@gmail.com

That is great news, but I'd like to find more on their parents, James or John Epley (b.12-1830 Tn.) md. 1879 Zada Jane Nichols (b. 5-1860 Ar.) Not sure this is right, but found it on internet.
The other Epley line

Any one researching the Epley/Eppley's unrelated to the Eppley's covered in Fryburg's genealogy [Genealogy of the Eppli-Aepley-Eppley families in America 1936]?

My direct line started with immigrant Conrad Israel Eberle/Oberle who lived in Lancaster PA. He married Caty Neher and their only known child was Jacob. Jacob moved to Virginia (Rockingham, Shenandoah, Page), married Eva Kerbaugh after the death of his first wife. He had 7 known children and possibly 4 more unnamed sons. The kids are Maria, Samuel, Elizabeth, Fauanna/Deyenna, Hannah, Anna Rebecca and Margaret. Jacob was a blacksmith who lived at Pine Forge, VA in 1820. He had several daughters who married (1832-1838) guys in the iron industry - Joseph Marston of Caroline Furnace, John J. Hawkins, George Botson, Andrew Larkins.

Son Samuel, also a blacksmith, went to Ohio c 1840 then Indiana, his son Josiah moved to Kansas after the Civil War.

I haven't traced the rest of Jacob's kids yet but I believe some went to TN or KY.

This sounds right, I was told by my grandmother before she passed that my grandfather's grandfather had moved his family to Missouri in the 1840's and that he had died there and his widow had returned to Perry Co. TN in the 1850's with their minor children. She thought that one or more of the adult children had married in MO and had stayed there. Thank you so very much this has helped me greatly.

Wayne

Milsap was my husband's paternal grandmother's name. Her name was Drayton Milsap and her first marriage was to Howard McGill. They divorced and she later married Mr. Barrett (sp.?) These families lived in Texas and Oklahoma. My husband's name is Tildon McGill.
