Frances Maria Sophia Eppes

Hi,

Has anyone ever come across the baptismal information for:

Frances Maria Sophia Eppes
born 22 Apr 1844 at Bedford, Bedfordshire.
baptized on 06 Jun 1844 at Holy Trinity in Bedford, Bedfordshire
daughter of Major William Randolph Eppes, Deputy Commissary General, British Army, and his wife, Mary Elizabeth McLoughlin.

The family was posted the following year to the Ionian Islands (Corfu) and then to Newcastle in Jamaica. We have not been able to find any reason for their being in Bedford nor any indication that they ever returned. Hoping that the names of the witnesses to the baptism might shed some light.

Any help at all would be really appreciated.
Thanks!

Lili

Thanks for your suggestion. It is a great one.

To the best of my knowledge there are no male Eppes from this line living. This particular Eppes line originates from William Isham Eppes (b. 1760) of Salem MA, son of William Eppes and Abigail Pickman.

William & Abigail had a daughter, Abigail who married Richard Routh.

There is a picture of Abigail Pickman Eppes Gardiner at the following site:
http://www.brooklynmuseum.org/opencollection/objects/1252/Mr...

I haven't found the tie in to the Eppes that married into Jefferson's family but the naming pattern suggests that the connection is there.

Are there any Eppes males that could do the DNA testing?

http://www.familytreedna.com/project-join-request.aspx?group...

There is an Epps/Eppes/Epp/Apps and other spelling variations.

If you know of any male with one of these surnames, ask them to do the DNA, ask to join Epps project, special or sale pricing.

Thanks.

There are Eppes in Clarke County, Athens, Georgia buried in the Oconee Hill Cemetery.

It is my understanding they are descendants of Thomas Jefferson the 3rd President of the United States.

Also several Epps lines in Georgia.
EPPS and variant spellings DNA Re: Eppes/Chisum/Gibbons/Anderson/Robinson/Mercer/Jones

To all Males:
EPPS/Variant spellings DNA Project
Appes; Apps; D'Epp; Epes; Epper; Eppes; Epps; Eps; Van Epps; Epp

We invitedyou to have a male with one of these surnames to have their DNA tested.

Be sure and ask to join the EPPS DNA project and for the special pricing.

When you received your kit, be sure and return the release form.

to check out the site and ramble around, go to this site:
http://www.familytreedna.com/

Call to order: 713/868-1438

We recommend the 37 markers. But if you order just the 12 marker, you can upgrade later and possibly use the same sample for more testing.

YDNA (father to son)
MDNa (mother to son)

The story handed down was that three Epps men went from Germany to England to [Virginia (USA] TO [Georgia (USA)] to Blue Ridge mountains to states in the United States of America.

All of us are attempting to document our heritage with our paper trail, let's move a step further and do the DNA.

We have contacted several males with one of these surnames. We are attempting to prove a connection of the Epps lines.

We would like to have someone from Germany, some one from the Francis Epes of Virginia have the testing.

Of the 12 that have tested so far, we have a line from North Carolina, Georgia, Missouri that have tested.

Our line is of the William Epps (born in Dinwiddie, VA) who marrked Sarah Alexander in Clarke Co, GA (both buried in the Epps Cemetery, Epps Bridge Parkway, Clarke Co, GA).

The paper trail gets very complicated with all the names being repeated in different lines.

So we hope the DNA will resolve.

Those of you who have heard of Benjamin Thomas Epps (the first Georgia Aviator), would you like to know if you are related?

Thanks in advance.

David Epps and Connie Epps Bond, Clarke Co, GA (USA) are administrators on the Epps project.

I am looking for the parents of Charles Alfred Eppes born between 1808-1811 in Prince George Virginia. He left Virginia for Texas in 1837. I have found him in the 1810, 1820 and 1830 census in Virginia but not after that so I am sure he is the correct Charles Eppes. He is my great, great grandfather but I have hit a roadblock with him and have not been able to find out about his parents. Any help or pointing me in the correct direction would be appreciated.

Charles Alfred Eppes, born sometime between 1810-1812 came to San Augustine Texas in April 1837 and was one of the original grantee's of property in Texas. He was the County Clerk of San Augustine County from1845 to 1854. Charles Eppes married Sarah Edgar and one of their sons, John Edward "Jobe" Eppes was my great-grandfather. Family lore has it that we are related to Thomas Jefferson however I have not been able to find any information on that. Thomas Jefferson's wife was Martha Wayles the daughter of John Wayles and Martha Eppes. I located a Charles Eppes in Prince George County Virginia in the 1810, 1820, and 1830 census but not after that which would coincide with his moving to Texas before the 1840 Virginia Census if this is the same Charles Eppes. I just cannot locate his parents.

Will of John EPS or EPPS (bur 19 Nov 1627), of Ashford, Kent?

I have seen a number of secondary sources indicate that John EPPS, the father of Captain William EPPS and Captain Francis EPPS, of Virginia, was buried in Ashford, Kent, on 19 Nov 1627. Some of these sources also indicate that John EPS' Will was Proved 16 DEC 1627 Canterbury, Kent, England. And I have seen entries for other members of the EPPS family showing these to have died BEF Aug 1625 or AFT Aug 1625.

I am INFERRING from these various entries that John EPPS Will was probably DATED Aug 1625 and proved at the indicated later date (16 DEC 1627).

I am NOT readily acquainted with British records, except for a little experience pulling Wills from the online facility of the British Public Records Office (see http://www.documentsonline.nationalarchives.gov.uk/ ). And at the PRO, I find not only NO Will for John EPS, but no Wills Proved on 16 DEC 1627 at all.

Can anyone furnish a better reference for the Will of John EPS, both as to the date the Will was Made, the Date it was Proved, WHERE it was Proved and WHERE COPY OF IT COULD BE OBTAINED TODAY? Or does any EPS descendent have a COPY of this Will?

I am particularly interested in mentions of daughter Mary EPPS, who is asserted to have married William ROPER on 03 Mar 1622. Any other information regarding the family of John EPPS and Thomazine BANKES is also much appreciated.

I am particularly interested in PRIMARY SOURCE information, rather than speculation or heresay. Is this information given in the first volume of the Book published by the Society of Decendents of Captain Francis EPPES?
Epes or Eppes

Am looking for information on Francis Eppes (or Epes) who married Ellizabeth Pegram. Their daughter Mary married Benjamin Boisseau who was born abt 1760 and died around 1840. Benjamin was the sone of James Boisseau from The Dinwiddie Co.-Prince George Co. area of Virginia. I would like information on the Eppes family ancestors and information on Francis.

I am a watercolor artist who has just completed a painting of the Historic Landmark home, Eppington(built by Francis Eppes VI, Thomas Jefferson's brother -in law). My interest initially in doing the painting was due to recently becoming a member of the Eppes Society. There are a limited edition number of 21 x 26" prints available for sale either framed or unframed and if you have an interest, please e- mail me and we can discuss an opportunity for viewing. The e-mail is KenCous01@ aol.com.
