Hi Kathy,

I recently noticed your post re: Erbe's of Barchfeld.

My great grandmother was Katherina Erbe. She was b. 3/1/1849 in Barchfeld, Hessen, Prussia and d. 2/18/1904 in Meadville, PA. After coming to America, she lived in Pittsburgh, PA for most of her life where she married Jacob Gaub on 9/30/1869. She was the mother of 6 children, George, Dr. Otto, Katherine, Fredericka, Alma and Hilda Gaub.

I believe that she was the daughter of Johann Sebastian Erbe, b. 8/3/1807 in Barchfeld, d. 12/2/1873, Pgh, PA and Katharina Eliz. Blum, b. abt 1808 in Barch., d. 1869 Pgh.

Johann Sebastian is believed to be the son of Johann Peter Erbe, b. 10/4/1771 in Barch., d. 1/8/1840, Barch. and Anna Barbara Klinzing.

Should these names tie into your data base, would you consider exchanging info on this family?

Thanks!

BUCK CORWIN
buckcorwin@hotmail.com

Erbe - Rothfuss

I have a John Rothfuss (b. 1828) that came from Germany to Philadelphia, PA. He married Caroline Erbe (b. 1832) from Germany. He was a stove maker and lived at 2nd and Diamond. They had 4 or more children- Caroline Rothfuss - known as Carrie Rothfuss Ahles, who married, lived in Maryland & came back to Philadelphia after a divorce, but listed herself as widowed. Alfred married Jessie, who died, then married Katie and moved to Camden - was a cigar maker. Any info on these would be appreciated.

I only can find a Carolina Erbe coming over from Germany on her own, no family in 1855. Not sure if it's the same.

Go to this thread and you will see Minnie's obit. It will tell you names of her husband and children. You can get their marriage certificate from the county they were mailed in. It costs about 20 dollars, but it should tell her parents and his parents name on the marriage certificates. Any more questions please e=mail me.

Susan

Erbe lineage from Munden,Germany to St.Louis, MO

Thought I would put something here on this board about my surname.
My great grandmother, Louise Grimm Erbe, came to St.Louis around 1888
with my grandfather and other siblings. My grandfather married Auguste
Elise Mueller on 12 Dec 1895. They moved to Monterey Park, CA in the
1920s where his trade was that of a barber..the first one in Monterey
Park. My father, Charles Robert Erbe Jr., was born in St. Louis, MO and
came to California with the family. There were other siblings, and one,
Jack Erbe of Walnut, CA is still alive. My father married Ruby Estelle
Reilly and had me and a sister. I live in Fresno, CA with my wife, Nora.
I have a webpage at http://people.goplay.com/PlutoJim that has my genealogy
research. I am mainly researching the Gleason line..and, a person that has
a lot of info on the Erbe's of St. Louis, MO, is Barbara Haney Martinez at
mlm@mosquitonet.com....
Jim Erbe, Fresno, CA

Hi,
I think that my great grandmother's sister was Mrs. Chris Suerwier's mother in law. My great grandmother was Johannah Sophia Wilemina Gath. She had a sister named Mary Gath. Looking at the records I see that Mary Sophia Christina Gath was married to Frederick Suerwier. My grandmother spelled the name a little different, but it sounds almost the same. Also my grandmother mentioned a Lena Suerwier. It shows that Chris Suenwier married a Laura Maxwell. If this is some sort of connection please let me know,

Thanks,
susan

My husband's Erbe relatives were in New York, then in the Hoboken area, and possibly Newark and back to New York again. Most all of them are buried in N.Y.
I am so happy to have found any reference to the Erck name. My mother's paternal grandmother was Cristianna Erck and married a Muelken in Illinois. They had one child, Fred, my maternal grandfather. When her husband died she married his cousin, also named Muelken and their children were Ellie, Pauline, Richard and Theodore. I think that was all Any information about the family would be most welcome. I think the family farm was located in or near Okawville, Illinois..

I don't know if I can help with your Erbes. But we had a John erbe who married a relative, Margaret Bowden in Trenton. His daughter Mary is still in the area. Let me know if this helps.

Greetings from Texas. My Johann Georg Erk (original spelling) was born Jan. 1, 1801 in Oberkatz, Meiningen, son of Johann Kaspar Erk and Barbara Elizabetn Hopf. Georg was a farmer and married Anna Barbara Fink from Helmerhausen. Other than the name and area, I see no connection here, but I believe there would be one if we could go back far enough.
I am very new to his computer stuff so this message may be posted more that once.

I, too, am looking for ancestors with the name Siedentopf. My ancestor was Louisa/Louise Siedentopf born in about 1830 possible in Hanover, Germany. She married William/Wilhelm Formon. If you have any information, it would be greatly appreciated.

Blessings,
Barbara Winton
