That should be "January" not February for the birth. The churchbook script entry is in script and I mistook J for F and had the christening date of February 9 in my head as I wrote.

Re: Erdelbrock's, Kortmann

Heinrich Wilhelm Erdelbrock, according to the Soest Church Books, was born to Anthon Andreas Diederich Wilhelm Erdelbrock (Wilhelm Erdelbrock) and Elisabeth Marie Kortmann on the twelfth of February 1862 apparently around 1 in the morning. His parents lived in the village of Deiringson near Soest in Westphalia. There appears to be an error in recording in the church books because his "Taufe" (infant baptism or christening) is listed as the 9th of February but so were the entries before and after his name who were born the 20th and 26th of February respectively. Apparently, church paperwork piled up 145 years ago too.

I visited Soast several years ago with my daughter who now lives and works in Munich. We located the property where my great grandmother lived - unfortunately the house is not around anymore. My daughter speaks german, and can tell you more if you would like to get in touch with her. Just guessing before that nothing for certain. Just generations in the same town. Florentine's parents were Wilhelm Erdelbrock b. 18OCT1835 in Soest, d. 4MAR1923 York County, NB. He m. Elizabeth Kortmann in 1854 in Germany. They had 7 kids, Florentine is #5. E-mail me directly at kallmaras@aol.com

Volkhard, I must be related. This Erdelbrock name is so rare. I live in North Dakota. My grandfather Wilhelm Erdelbrock went to York, Nebraska way back in the last 1890's I do believe. He then came to North Dakota. My family is traveling to Germany on Tuesday, July 30 and will be looking up information. They will be staying in Munich mostly. THANKS for responding. We've had a tough family loss this past year so I've been away from the family tree quite abit. Keep in touch. Some how we will figure out how we are related. Who are your parents and grandparents??

Take care - Jerilyn

Hi! Good to hear from you. My dad's dad was Wilhelm Erdelbrock. My dad is Herbert and his brother lives in Longview, Washington and his name is Harold Erdelbrock. He has a son in Touttle, Washington - Dale and a daughter Karen in San Diego. If you ever get that way it may be fun to visit with them. A trip to Soest, Germany, huh? Bet that was wonderful. Dad thinks I should go there sometime too. Would love to. Billie, if you are interested in any more info, this Peggy Corp that I met (she is a great great grand daughter of Lizette - another sister to Florentine and Wilhelm) I could sent some of it to you if you send me your e-mail address then I can forward things as I get them. It is really interesting to meet these decendents of where we all came from, isn't it? The family was quite big - we have 4 sisters and 3 brothers. Let me know how you feel about obtaining more info and I can tell you more - send me your e-mail address if you like. Take care and keep in touch. My dad is thrilled with all this contact and info I've discovered. Jerilyn

Hi, again.
Thanks for the information - I really don't know too much about the Erdelbrocks who came over - in fact I didn't know that there were more siblings other than Florentine and Wilhelm. Anyhow, Florentine was my great-grandmother. She married a man named Charles Thobin Queen. They had 9 children: George b. Mar 14, 1892, Willie b. June 15, 1893, Ruth b. Oct 10, 1895, Elizabeth (my grandmother) b. Feb. 26, 1897, Ralph b. Jan 29, 1899, Gladys b. April 10, 1900, Marie b. March 14, 1902, Ila b. April 17, 1905, Doris b. Nov. 20, 1906.

My great grandmother divorced her husband sometime after Doris was born and moved to Kansas City, Mo.

Elizabeth married a man named Charles Hopkins and they had 4 children, Bernita, Norma (my mother)b. 1917,Juanita b. 1923 and Jaqueline b. about 1919, and Martin b. 1924.

By the way - I visited Soest this summer and did some research. It's a wonderful little town. Very picturesque!

I live in Seattle, but most of my relatives still live in Kansas City, Mo. Only my branch seemed to spread around the country.

Where are you from? Are you aware that there is a family get-together back in Nebraska each year? I've never been, but some of my Kansas City relatives have gone there. It's on my list for 'some day'.

I'm so glad that I happened to see your message - I haven't visited that site in ages.

Thanks again for the info - I really appreciate it, as I really am learning about my family only recently.

Billie

Hi - glad you responded! Can you elaborate a little more. We have the following as children of Elisabeth Kortman and Andreas Wilhem Erdelbrock I: Maria, Florence, Lizette, Sophia, Andreas, Wilhelm and Henry. My line falls under Wilhem. Is your great grandmother Florence (Florentine)? We have her name as Florence. I'm corresponding with a descendent of Lizette and she has info too. Can you tell me who your Mom or Dad are and which sibling they come under? We can go from there. Also where are you from? We noticed they came to York, NE and and it appears the womean stayed in NE and the boys moved up North. Do you any info at all? Thanks for responding? This has been so interesting. Keep in touch and share what you have and I'll do the same.
