I am an Erdman(n)/Artman descendant also and have in my possession a copy of a letter dated 1946 that briefly discusses the history of the family and includes reference to a Major Enos Reiser Artman. I don't know that it will be of any assistance; however, I have attached it for your review.

I am trying to find the parents of Jacob Erdman b 17 Mar 1882 in Russia his wife Molly b 1886 also in Russia. They had a son Walter b 28 Aug 1930 d 22 Mar 2003 he married Nancy Hall. They had a son James b 5 Feb 1957 Lake Oswego, Oregon.
Jacob and Molly arrived in 1913 through New York.

Any info would be appreciated.

Hi there,

First of all I am totally new here, and haven't paid membership yet to really get into it. But I can tell you this much:

One of those 9 children that was listed was Edwin.

My father is/was Edwin Otto Erdman. Born 9/15/11.

I am ashame to say I don't know anything else but he was com Wisconsin, and was married there to a woman, and they had a son, name Eddie.

When he divorced her, somehow he moved to CA. Married my Mother Wanda Jean Ferguson. They had me, and my sister Shelley.

If I get into this more, maybe I'll hear from you. I really don't know whatsoever what I am doing.

ELIZABETHTOWN — Lola F. "Lulu" Erdman, 82, of Elizabethtown, went home to be
with her Lord on Thursday, Sept. 4, 2008, at ManorCare Health Services,
Elizabethtown. She had been under a physician's care.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, Leon Erdman, who passed
away in January 2007.
Born in West Cameron Township on Feb. 4, 1926, she was a daughter of the late
Wesley and Minnie Tobias Long.
A stay-at-home mom, she cleaned homes in her neighborhood, taking her daughters
along as little helpers. Lola believed in old-fashioned cleaning, scrubbing on her hands
and knees.
She then began cleaning at the former Big M in Middletown, and retired from the
former Empire Shoe Factory, Elizabethtown, where she was employed as an
assembler.
In earlier years, Lola played the accordion and embroidered items out of cloth feed
bags. She loved music, especially country/western and inspirational.
Lola enjoyed soap operas, loved cats and in later years, took up crocheting and made
many afghans and novelty items.
Lola had a magical green thumb and could get any plant to grow at any time, and
enjoyed working on jigsaw puzzles. She took pride in her beautiful penmanship,
spending many hours copying off recipes for her own recipe collection. Lola was always
young at heart and friendly to everyone.
She was preceded in death by two brothers and four sisters.
Surviving are two daughters, Nancy L., wife of D. Andrew Fantom, Marietta; Cindy L.,
wife of Dennis Warnke, Thomasville; four grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and
numerous nieces and nephews.

No relation to deceased (that I know of yet)

I have Erdman family connection in Baltimore. Susan Erdman 1846-1920 married Benjamin C Martin 1838-1906. They ended up living in Annapolis though.

Susan's parents I think were Adam Gottlieb Erdman 1808-1878 and Catherine (Hauser?) Erdman 1811-1899 from Baltimore. Other possible children were Frederick, John, Mary, Amanda, & maybe some older. All were from Baltimore area.

Possible siblings of Adam Gottlieb Erdman were John, Matthias, Frederick, Peter, Charles, and some others. They lived in the Baltimore area too.

Any connections?

Hi my name is Michael Moulfair. I am a decendant of Jacob Erdman through his son Miles Monroe Erdman and his(Miles') son Walter Miles Erdman. Walter is my grandfather and it was my promise to him on his deathbed that I would follow the lineage of our Erdman family as far as i can go. My only problem is that i cannot find a father or mother for Jacob Erdman. He was born in 1859 and died in 1899. He was from the Klingerstown, Pennsylvania area most of his life if not all of it. He was married to Christiana Klinger of the Klinger's who founded Klingerstown. I am able to follow her lineage back into the 1600's, but the Erdman family stops with Jacob. I do plan on doing some "footwork" by going to courthouses and researching his name, but any information regarding him would be greatly appreciated. Please help me fulfill my promise to my grandfather if you can.

Hi my Fathers name is Richard Floyd Erdman. His father's name was Frederick H Erdman Mother was Ruth Charlotte Miller. Frederick's parents are Floyd E Erdman and Cecile Goodemoote or some variation in spelling. My father brother Gary Erdman died of Huntingtons disease, Frederick Erdman also died of Huntington's. I know the that huntingtons is in the Erdman family so I am assuming that Floyd also died of the disease. I am nsure though. You might wish to try the American Historical Society of Germans from Russia (AHSGR), of Lincoln NE, or the Germans from Russia Heritage Society (GRHS), headquartered in North Dakota, I believe. They both have websites. I think there is another group with an acronym something like SGEE, which has related interests (Germans from Eastern Europe), but I don't know anything about them, or their full name--possibly Society of Germans from Eastern Europe?

I have German immigrant Erdman's who seem to have hopped back and forth between Wisconsin and Michigan.

My info: Frederick A. Erdman, b. Shu Bein, Germany 27 March 1876 and d. 25 October 1945 Lake City, Michigan. His son Richard Eugene Erdman was b. 25 May 1907, Crandon WI.

My info on this line is very sketchy, but would be willing to share.

Any information on sisters Hulda and Molly Erdman in Oconto County? They married brothers, Charles and Adolph Behnke, respectively, in the early 1900's. Hulda had a daughter Olga before her marriage to Charles - not sure if she had a first husband or not.

I have just received the death certificate of my great-grandfather, Henry Erdman. He died 9/18/1911 in Fort Wayne, IN. It lists his parents as Jacob Erdman and Anna Burderoff. It shows them all as being born in Germany, though in the 1880 census, Henry states that he was born in Russia.

Prussia is always a possibility, at least as a point of the Erdman family's origin, but I definitely know that my great-grandmother was born in Schilling Colony, Russia, and that he followed her when her family sent her to America. So, I'm assuming he met her while she lived in Russia. He also lists Russia as his place of birth on the census.

Look at the Missouri State archives online death certificates at a Martain Ertmann....

Perhaps interesting to you as to me the mothers name looks like it could be Veronica Chervanik?? But I could be wrong..

On Schnoor message is posted about a Schnoor/Meyer marriage..the mothers surname is Pahl..this is in Illinois.

Tracy the people you are looking for are my gg grandfather and gg grandmother Christoff Erdman and Rosa Erdman (Seahoeffer) they came from West Prussia, Germany in 1862 and settled in Eau Claire Co. I have a Samuel Erdman(b-1857,d-1911) who was the
brother of my greatgrandfather; Daniel Erdman
(b-1865,d-1939). No info on spouse, but if it
is the same Samuel Erdman, his parents were
Jacob W. Erdman(b-1819, d-1873) and Catherine
Sietz(b-1829,d-1907). Probably is the same, as
my Samuel is buried at St. Michael's Cemetary
in Klingerstown, PA. In the St. Michael's burial
records I just found that his wife Christian

Willie Handlin Erdman, Wanette, formerly of Moore, died
Tuesday at Midwest City Memorial Hopsital following an
extended illness.

Erdman was born in Elk Falls, Kansas. He was a retired
farmer.

Survivors include a son, Cecil, of MIdwest City; two
daughters, Wanda Erdman, of Midwest City and Mrs Henry
Clayburn of Oklahoma City; two brothers, Jess, of Macomb,
and Raymond of New Mexico and four sisters, Mrs Elvira
Morrison, of Moore; Mrs Stella Bearce, of Texas; Mrs Frank
Howard, and Mrs Mary Connelly both of Oklahoma City.

Services will be at 10:00 am Friday, at Primrose Funeral

Quite possible that you are related to my husband,who passed away in Tampa,Florida in year 2001.He was born in Warsaw Poland Aug.2nd of year 1958.His mother maiden name was Leokadia Kujawa and father's first name I don't remember but it could be Manfred Erdmann.Their family name was spelled once with on "n" at the end and once with two "nn" at the end of name.Let me know what Erdmans are you related to.At the time when we both got naturalized in USA we decided that our name is going to be spelled with "nn" at the end,so I'm Eva Erdmann

I am looking for information on Irene Augusta Maw and Henry Ernst Erdman. I have the census information from 1930. I am looking for descentants of the couple. They had two daughters...Margaret Lee and Martha Irene. I know they had a grand-daughter named Karen. But I don't know which daughter of the couple's had the girl. I saw a picture this past week and my mom told me about Karen. Don't know last names of Margaret or Martha once they married.

Don't know if we've communicated before, but I had a great, great-grandfather, Henry Erdman, who came to the U.S. from Russia, but that was in the 1870's. I have no idea what part of Russia he came from, but I've suspected it was Grimm. Very little paperwork on him, so it may be an impossible task trying to track him down. One of his sons born here was named John ("Jack") Erdman. Saw the similarity of names and am just wondering if there's any family connection.

Emil Erdmann is my great great grandfather, Minnie was his wife. They lived at 39th & Pershing by the bus barns and their son Herman lived there after their passing.
Emil & Minnnie had I'm told 5 daughters, only one son, Herman Emil Erdmann, tho I havfe come across information that there were 9 children total.
Herman was married more than once, and had 4 sons, one of whom is my grandfather, and 3 daughters. Herman's daughters are all still living in the Chicago area.

I'm trying to find out something about Emil and Minnie's parents.
I have the name Annie Pritchard as being mother to one of them, but haven't been able to determine if she was Emil's mother or Minnie's.

Are we by chance both related to this branch of the Erdmann family?

My grandparents are buried in a family plot (dont [have the cemetary name at hand) but its on Roosevelt and rt 12 near Chicago......... Richard and Henrietta Erdmann. There are several other family members buried there as well.
