She was born to Harlan and Bessie Wilson, Sept. 28, 1916, on her parents' farm at Rush Lake, Wis. At the age of 12, Floriene was granted a special drivers license so that she could drive herself and several neighbor children to school. Floriene graduated from Berlin High School, and then moved to Chicago where she earned a degree in dress making and design. After opening her own dress shop in Ripon, she met her future husband, Alvin. They were married March 29, 1940. The couple resided in Ripon until 1944 when they moved to Waterloo, Wis. In 1950, they purchased the Bonduel Times newspaper and rural publishing company. Floriene worked in the Times office with Al, becoming familiar with all aspects of the publishing business. The couple sold their business and retired in 1971. Her husband preceded her in death May 15, 1992. Floriene was active in community projects. Floriene spent her spare time doing craft work, knitting, crocheting, tatting, many kinds of needlework and sewing. In later years, she learned to play the electronic keyboard which became her favorite hobby. She loved music and took a special liking to this instrument and enjoyed sharing her music with many groups. Her family and friends were very dear to her. She idolized her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Throughout her life, she had many dear and special friends. She will be fondly remembered and greatly missed.

Survivors are her sons, Wayne (Marilyn), Bloomington, Ill.; Lee (Kristyne), Green Bay; grandsons, Bryan (Ellen), Brent (Jennifer), Eric (fiancee Tanya Theis), Joshua (fiancee Sarah Fahs); granddaughter, Vanessa; great-grandchildren, Hannah and Owen; and several cousins, nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her two sisters, Alice Fuller and Marion Norstrant.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, April 26, 2007, at Zion United Methodist Church, Bonduel with the Rev. Jerry Cho officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Fred E.Ericson (letter 1937)

I have a letter written 4/28/37 from Fred Ericson in Lincoln, NE to his cousin Carrie Wester Erdahl in Frost, Minnesota. Carrie was my grandmother(b.1890 d.1956). I am trying to understand how she is related to Fred. In the letter Fred makes mention of his daughter who is 10 years old and "very active in music, swimming & dancing.". He also makes mention of Alice who I assume was his wife. He also talks about his mother. I am simply trying to find the connection in the relationship. I would be glad to make a copy of the letter to any relative who might respond. Thank you.

Ericsons in Chicago

Don't know if you found what you were looking for, but I wanted to let you know that my father, Roy Ericson, was from Chicago (born in 1919). He had two older sisters, Edna and Helen. Edna married Homer Armstrong and settled in Memphis, TN and Helen married Richard Bliss and stayed in Chicago. I believe my father had a cousin named Clarence. My father's father was Carl Ericson and his mother was Esther Kjellin (not sure about that spelling). Esther had a sister, who immigrated to the U.S. and two brothers who stayed in Sweden - one was named Eric. They were from Borlange. Was just trying to search for them on the new Ellis Island website and haven't been having much luck. If any of these names sound familiar to you, let me know at ceric@socal.rr.com

I,m researching my family tree and would like any info you have on the following:
Eric Ericson was born in 1853 in Sweden and came to America with parents, brothers John and Lewis and 2 sisters. Eric Ericson, my great- grandfather married Justine Johnson and they moved to Bishop Hill in IL. They had 11 children: Arthur who married Emma; Ernest who married Lillie; Hulda who married Harry Palmer; Linnie who married Grace; Melvin who married Lillian; Reuben who married Mathilda; Alice who married Albin Anderson; Wesley who married Mildred; Albert Ericson (my grandfather) who married Ruth Maynard; Francis unmarried; and Leroy unmarried. These families settled mainly in NE, CO, and IL though others lived elsewhere. Please contact me if you have any info.

Your post caught me by surprise because I am looking for an Edna Ericson. The only siblings that I have listed are May and Carl. I suspect that Carl's real name may have been Hjalmar but I am not sure of that. They would have come from either Finland or Sweeden. Edna married Richard Kangas and settled in Michigan but her children went on to live in Illinois. Please e-mail me at Praying4Courage@aol.com so that we can compare information!

Searching for Ericson's

Sean,

There are places that you can get more information, but you're going to have to dig up some more details. Start by visiting the cemetaries where Robert and Gustive are buried. Often they list where they were born. Use city directory listings and sometimes you can narrow down an approximate timeframe when Gustive arrived in Aruora, IL unless you already know that. Next, find out where the naturalization records are stored for your county (probably the county courthouse) and ask for Gustive's naturalization records. I found a ton of information about my great-grandfather that way, including the Parish. There are a few people out on the net who can give you some more information when you're armed with that and you may even find someone to search the parish records for you. And if by chance you find any relatives that ended up in Jamestown, NY, please let me know.

Oh, and don't be stuck on the spelling of ERICSON. We have that spelling in our family, but it was changed from ERICKSON and ERICKSSON. The Swedes in Jamestown changed their name or the spelling to be distint from all the other Swedes in town with the same name.

Good Luck.

Kristi

Dear Karen,

Hi! I think I can help you, I am looking for my father's parents and their parents, Erickson, from Sweden, and Clouse from Iowa? If you look in the 1870 Cencus from Iowa, County of Lucas, page #3, on this cencus you will see Clouse at the bottom if you turn the page you will see a Mathilda Clouse who is eight yrs. old? Then if you go to the 1880 Cencus you will see the same Clouse Family, also you will see 4 set's of Erickson Families. I don't know if this will help, something to look into. If you have any information on a Erik Erikson? from Sweden about 1881? He had a brother named Marten? who went to California, maybe a Carl, or Edward? and two sisters? They maybe went to MO and then Iowa. I also need all the help I can get.
