Esau Family Help

My neices are beginning to research their Esau name. Any help appreciated. Father's name is Charles Gillies Esau Jr.
His parents were Charles Esau Sr. and Marie Gulick of Burlington, Iowa. Charles Sr was born in 1917. We believe Charles Sr.'s father was Robert Esau.
We are very curious about this family...........this line and the Esau name origins.
Please let us know what you can help us with and introduce these girls to new family.

Perhaps by now you have discovered further information on your Esau family. If not, do you have any additional information on your grandfather George Esau, such as his wife's name, a date or year of birth, etc?

Hello, my name is DeAnna.

I am putting together a Dalke-Esau-Bruen Heritage Ancestral Scrap book. I have a lot of pictures of Charles-“Cornelius” Roy Esau, Grandpa no younger than midlife, Grandma Anna Bruen, I have a lot of her from 8 years old till her death. I am in need of Jacob Esau and Anna Dalke, or any other Esau’s, Dalke’s or Bruen’s. Any stories or pictures before Jacob Esau or after plus and stories and pictures of any one.

I am reading a book called “Introduction to the Russian Mennonites written by Wally Kroker” and can find all of the Mennonite Colonies in Russia, U.S and Canada using a Historical from a Historical Mennonite Atlas. I also have all the ship and the manifests.

So if anyone has photos or stories of the Dalke’s or the Esau’s whoever you can think of even if your own Esau family for those that are direct descendents of Jacob or Anna Dalke.

I am of the Esau blood line. My great grandfather Jacob Esau was a menninite I believe migrated from europe to canada to the US... I wish I new more about the Esaus' from europe and where they originated and if the is a family crest... If anyone knows can you email me j_m_locke@yahoo. com

I found this site of yours when I went out looking today for Mae Bruen. I have found that she lived to be 86 years old and lived in Iowa. She was born 1888 and lived to 1974. no one has spoken to her or heard from her why????

I am the son of John Gustaf and Eva Esau. I know that in the past that my mother was posting on this board. She passed away do to complications from a surgery in 2000. Brian, I don't know if you will see this, but there are apparently a lot of Karen Esaus in the world (and I thought as a child I must be the only one!). I am an Esau by birth and my ancestry goes back to Ukraine. My father was born in Kiev and immigrated with his parents at the age of 2. I am married to a Brookstein and am curious if there were every any Esaus from the Jewish persuasion who changed there surname to escape persecution because Esau was banished from the Jews of the Old Testament.

My husband is Phil, his father was George and my son is Brian - small world in so many ways, but hard to find connections just 3, 4 or 5 generations back. Good luck!!

Looking for info on the Esau family (Heinrich Esau 4/11/1869 - 1/6/1925 and his first wife Margareta Bergmann 4/20/1871 - 9/22/1907) who lived in a village called Gnadental, in the Molotschna Colony in Ukraine. Does anyone know who Heinrich's and Margareta's parents were?
Their daughter Anna Esau is my maternal grandmother. She married Gerhard Reimer 3/18/1928 in Gnadental. By 1929, they'd escaped Russia, and were in Harbin, China (Manchuria), and 8/13/30 arrived in the US, settling in California.
Does anyone have info on the other descendents of Heinrich Esau and his first wife Margareta Bergmann, or his second wife after Margareta died and he remarried and had 6 more children. What has become of them?
The names of Heinrich and Margareta's children are as follows:
- Margareta Esau 1896-1969 - married Kornelius Fast;
- Maria Esau 1897-? - married Franz Lowen;
- Heinrich Esau 1898-1958 - married Lena Berg;
- Jakob Esau 1899 - 1940's killed during WWII - married Agnes Teichrob;
- Helena Esau 1901-1976 - married Gerhard Warkentin
- Anna Esau 1903-1950 - married Gerhard Reimer

Could you tell me what you have on the Dahlke line? My family also immigrated on the Oder (as I'm told but no docs yet) My Grandmother was a Dahlke who lived in NB. She married a Welke. She had 1/2 siblings. Great Grandpa Dahlke raised sheep. Great grandma married twice, she was a nurse. Any help would be great.

Is there anyone still lookung for Esau's anymore?
I sort of stopped after 2000. But I was able to talk to a few Esau's from all over since then that have gotten in touch with me. United States and Canada.

I am looking for Jason Esau (my brother) from our mother Laurel Fishler ((maiden name) Ken's ex wife)). I haven't been able to get ahold of him and we haven't spoken in years. If anyone knows of where he could be or some contact information please email me. The last I heard from him he was working as an engineer for Nordstrom in Seattle.

Recently discovered that my 3xG Grandfather was called Athanas George ESAU. He was described as being Greek. He was buried in Calcutta so we presume that he had been there for a while.
Does anyone have any connections with this line?

I just saw you message, my Grandmothers name was Anna Jane Esau, she was born in 1900 and dies in 1970, I don't know much about her family or where they were from. I think her fathers name was Lewellyn and mother was Clara.
Clara was born in 1864 and died in 1933.
Anna married Fredrick Charles Sanford in 1919.
Do any of these names belong in your family history?

I have a Jacob ESAU who married an Anna DAHLKE. They lived in the Mo;otschna Colony in S. Russia which is now the Ukraine. They had the following children " John Jacob, Cornelius,Peter,Frank, Heinrich, Jack and Mary. Five of the chiildren were born in Russia. Jacob was my grandfather. He and Peter put on their Letters of Intent that they were born in Fuerstenau and emigrated from Alexanderwhol, Molotschna Colony. They came to the US from Bremen to NY in 1884 aboard the Oder. They settled in Hampton, Hamilton Co.,NE and then most of them moved on to either College View,Lancaster Co., NE or Petersberg, Boone Co.,NE.Any info on this family is greatly app.

Paul was my father. He died in 1958 from complications of an ulcer operation. Jacob( the one who died in WWII was my cousin.
He has 2 sisters and a brother still alive. Two of them live in FL where I live and one lives in PA. I got to meet Dale last June. When he retired he came to FL. It was wonderful to finally meet a cousin on my father's side. Bert has two children who live in WA. He was my father's younger brother. Are you from Uncle Pete's family?
I keep in contact with Richard Esau. He is in CA and is Uncle Jack and Aunt Elma's son. They are the ones who lived in WY.

The last time I saw your father and Uncle Jack and Uncle Chris was when my mom and dad and I made a trip out west from PA. That was summer of 1950. Grandad Jacob Esau was visiting in College View and we picked him up and took him west with us to CA. We stopped to see everyone. Went up through WY and on to Montana where my Aunt Lillie and Uncle Herb Kennedy lived and over to WA to Uncle Bert and Aunt Maries(MaryAnn). Stayed about a week at Aunt Netas in Denton. When she was alive my husband and I visited her almost every summer in Pleasant Dale. We now try to make a trip every three years west. Was out that way this past summer.. I have to get thinks tofether to send Dale. We promised to send each other the information that we did not copy when he was here.

Aunt Lillie died July of 1996. We went west and left Uncle Bert kid's in WA for MT. When we got there Maxine told us that her mother was buried two days before. It was so bad that she didn't even send her obit to her sister Aunt MaryAnn in CA. My cousin,Jakes's daughter, was with us and she sent the obit to CA. They had a bunch of albums on the back proch. Said that they were going to burn them. Kate and I went through them and took alot out. Lillie had four children. Dale died in the '50's, Killed in an auto train accident there in Plains. Sharon is in Alaska. Jeanette(who I was close to) died in the early 90's.Maxine is still in Plains, MT but seems not to want anything to do with the family.Uncle Herb died in the late 70's early 80's. Aunt Lillie was in a nursing home her last 3 or 4 years. I taught Mentally Retarded and Learning Disabled for 34 years. Retired 5 years ago. My husband has 2 years to go. Yes , I would live to have a picture of your folks. Do you have any pictures of the Kroekers? I have one with Anna Wurms on it. I would love to send it to you but I do not have a scanner. Would have to be snail-mail. Dale gasve me the Naturalization papers for my granddad and showed me your father's. I sent to the Historical Societ for Jacob Kroekers. My name is Dan (Daniel) Esau and my grandfather was Frank Esau. I believe his father was Jacob Esau and his mother Anna Dahlke. My father, Wayne Clinton Esau was born in College View, NE on 20 April 1911 and passed away in Santa Barbara CA on 17 Sept 1988. My Dad had a brother Clarence and two sisters, Pearl and Louise. My grandmother was Katherina Kroeker.

Is there any more information that I can help you with?

I have recently tried to put some of this data in my data base, so I am just starting.

Looking for info on William Esau , married a female Deike in cook or dupage ctny, Ill . In abt 1850.Her given name Louise ? The info I have from old newspaper article (1940), is that they moved to aberdeen s. dakota. Female Deike parents Frederick Deike and Maria Gathmann married dupage ctny, Ill on 07 Jul 1859. (the 1850 date) should be abt1880 marriage date.

My mother is an Esau and I will be starting that family
tree soon. They also came from the same area in Ukraine.
My great grand father was Aron Esau and my grand father was WIlliam Esau.
My grand father immigrated to Canada. Some stayed behind and
many were killed.

However I am very interested to communicate with you and maybe you can
help me with our family tree. Possibly we are related.

Marjorie, my great granmother is Mary Esau, wife of Frank Vogt. On a 1900 census for Hamilton County, Farmers Valley precint, Frank Vogt and Mary Esau Vogt are shown on the same page as Anna Esau, and children, Peter, Frank Cornelus, John and John's wife Elizabeth.
My Mary Esau is shown as being born Apr 1880, and an immigrant of Russia.
This Anna is is shown as immigrating in 1884 from Russia, an as a widow. Do you have any information to connect my Mary Esau Vogt to this Anna, and is this the same family you're dealing with?
