I am looking for a Francisco Encinas who fathered my grandmother in 1903. I have a picture of him with another woman and a daughter taken in the US. My grandmother was born in Hermosillo along with her two sisters. Their mother was Jesus Maria Lopez. Francisco was born around 1877.

I hope you are still working on your research.

Nievis Escandon and Family

I am looking for information on Nievis Escandon (spelling may be incorrect). She would have been born in the 1800s. She married Martin Mungia. She had at least 2 daughters (unknown of any sons) Pabla and Dionicia. I know that Pabla was possibly born in Yorktown, Texas and I also know that she died in 1954 in Michigan. Her headstone says "Paula M. Villarreal" (she married Juan R. Villarreal who was born in Mexico).

If anything sounds familiar, please let me know.

Re: trying to locate my father

Patricia,

I don't have info. about your father but I am trying to trace origin of the Escandon and Jimenez branches of my family. My grandmother Petra Jimenez was Escandon. Her father was Joaquin Escandon. He was a well known rancher in Cortaro, AZ located just north of Tucson AZ. He owned several acres of land which were eventually sold by his son Joaquin. The senior Joaquin was born in San Jose de Gracia, Sonora, Mexico, March 18, 1864. He married Petra Encinas Yanez Jan. 15, 1893. He died in 1935, Tucson, AZ. Joaquin arrived in Tucson area about 1880.I have his death certificate but his parents' names aren't listed. He had a brother named Francisco so I'm guessing that his father's name was Francisco or Joaquin. For some reason his family is not listed on any of the historical censuses for AZ. I did find him the church records for Silverbell and Sasco 1903-1913.

I'm also having a difficult time tracing the Jimenez line. My father is Gilbert Jimenez; his father was Braulio Jimenez. Braulio's parents were Francisco Jimenez and Guadalupe Romero. I have Francisco's death cert. but doesn't show his parents' names. Does state they lived in Mexico. Francisco was born about 1843 or 1845. He married Guadalupe Nov. 16, 1874 in Tucson; died Feb. 1, 1913 in Tucson. He was a mason. Francisco's and Guadalupe's children were: Alfredo, Mateo Francisco, Alejandro, Rodolfo, Braulio, Luisa, Maria, Joaquin, Ramon , Ramona, Gustavo. The eldest born 1875, youngest born 1897. I have info. placing Francisco in these places in Sonora,Mexico: Altar, San Miguel de Horcasitas, and Arispe. Do we have any common names?
trying to locate my father

My father's name is Rene Escandon. As far as I know he was born in Southern Mexico, possibly in the town of Caranza. I moved to the US in 1973 and have never met him. I have only this information, but would like to see if someone could get me some more information. He would be in his 60's and a rancher by trade. Please contact me at the email address I have provided.
