My great grandmother was an Escott who originally came from London and married my paternal Grandfather Walter William Bartholomew. The Escotts kept a pub near Minehead called The Castle of Comfort, which by all reports was a very disreputable place in days gone by!They lived in Somerset all their married lives until they split up in the late1940s or early 50s,she living in Wembdon until she died in 1955.They had 13 children, the last of which may have been the result of an extramarital liaison! She is buried in Cannington churchyard. We may or not be related, lets see where we go from here.Kind regards Jill

My Uncle Jessie was born October 15, 1913, and died May 24, 1946. Aunt Clara was a Hernandez. Anna Marie's twin sister was Ellen Marie, and her brother was Jessie, Jr, who died March 16, 2003. I do have a wonderful photo of your great-grandfather, Jessie. My Mother gave me all of this information and was excited to hear that you were looking for information about the family.

Looking for information about the ancestors of James Escott, born Axbridge around 1798.

There are many Escotts at the other end of Somerset, but few around the Axbridge area. One possible connection in the are is to Henry Escott, born 1773 in Compton Bishop, but I have seen no documentation to support this guess.

Any information would be much appreciated.
Mary Bickham Escott-Second Marriage?

Am attempting to find out if Mary Bickham Escott, daughter of Aldred Bickham of Old Cleeve and widow of Hugh Escott, married again after the death of her husband. Hugh died in 1673/74, and per his will they had five children: Richard, Hugh, Aldred, Giles and Mary, all of whom were still minors at the time of Hugh's death.

I am trying to figure out if the son Giles mentioned here is my ancestor, and so am trying to find if his mother left a will which might mention him and give more information. However, it seems likely that Mary would have remarried after Hugh's death, and her will would have been recorded under that name. So far I've been unable to find any reference to a second marriage. The family was primarily in Carhampton at this time. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

The Eastcott surname mainly comes from Devon and Cornwall (mine being Launceston in Cornwall and Lamerton/Tavistock in Devon). I am collating information of the surname Eastcott and its varients (Escot; Escott; Eastcot; Escotte;Estcott; Estcote) to undertake a one name study. I would love to hear from anybody who are tracing their Eastcott (and varients) ancestors from anywhere, who would be willing to share information or their tree with me.
