William--
I am the 3rd great-grandson of Wm Escue (Willam A. Escue, Mamie Escue Suddath, Odessa Suddath Lackey, Jeannine Lackey Laughlin)and I just returned from a visit to Brownsville. One of my cousins, Clarence Escue, tells me that William's wallet is now on display at the Shiloh Museum. I'd be proud if that were the case. At any rate, it is good to find all you cousins, the offspring of a man who had 29 children (bless the hearts of Sarah and Clara).

John Escue was the son of Christopher Escue and Hannah Hanover. Christopher Escue was the son of Hiram Escue.

Christopher Escue was born in Franklin Co., VA in 1786 and died after 1870 and before 1880 in Hardin Co., IL.

Your John Escue was born in Barren Co., KY in 1825 and died before 1870. He married Diana F. Lee on 7 Sep 1845 in Barren Co., KY. Diana was born in 1829 in KY. They had several children: Mary J., Catherine, Nancy, John Jehu, Juliett, and George.

If Diana married George Escue, it was short-lived. He is found living with Diana between marriages, but not married to her. George married twice.

Hope this helped.

Hi Burke,
I'm a great grand daughter of William and Clara Fennell (his second wife). My grandfather was Ellis Fletcher Escue
and my Dad's name is Melvin Ellis Escue.
William is buried at Eureka Cementary in a little community just outside of Gates, TN called Forked Deere beside Sarah and Clara is buried directly behind them. A lot of his first set of children and their wives are buried in the same cementary.
However, my grandfather along with several of his siblings are buried about 5 miles away at Concord Cementary. William was of the Methodist faith and at one time or other most of his children lived in this area. I have a brief
genealogy from William to Melvin, my father that details mostly his children, who they married, where they lived, and their children.
Would be happy to hear from you.
Shirley Escue Weir

Former Alturas resident and Bank of America Manager Albert Escue died at his home in Red Bluff, CA on November 26, 2007 after a lengthy illness. He was born April 10, 1932, outside Cherokee, Iowa and graduated from Quimby High School in 1949. He spent four years in the U.S. Navy, serving in Hawaii in electronics repair during the Korean War. After his discharge, he married his sweetheart Dorothea (Dottie) Adolf on September 4, 1955. Together they had four children: Juanita Marie, James Brian, Nanci Anne, and Bruce Craig.

Upon his graduation from Iowa State University in 1959 with a degree in Agriculture Education, he moved his wife and oldest daughter to California to begin a 27-year career for Bank of America. During his many years living in rural towns of California, Albert was active in a number of organizations. He was a pack leader for the Boy Scouts, active in the American Legion, the United Way, Modoc Sheriff's Posse, and in various towns, the Lions Club, Kiwanis, and Rotary. He was extremely honored to be named a Paul Harris Fellow, as well as an honorary Chapter Farmer at Modoc Future Farmers of America.

Albert was happiest in the outdoors, and was always proud of the amount of firewood he could put up in the winter. He loved spending time in his shop, inventing things with his welder, building shelves and such, and was an artist with his leatherwork.

Albert is survived by his wife Dottie, his daughters Juanita Rajanen and husband Michael, Nanci Souza and husband Ben, his grandson Justin and wife Melissa, step-grandchildren Alysia , Angela and Dustin, great-grandchildren Rheanne, Isabella, Devyn, Mikah and Cheyanne, and his close friend Charlie Johnson.
Greetings,
I am fairly new to this, and have hit "brick walls" in searching for information about my great-grandparents, John Wesley Escue who married Mary Alice Foster. They lived in Tennessee; Ethridge, TN, if I am not mistaken. If you have any information, or any links to information, I would greatly appreciate it. Photos would be delightful!
Thank you for your time.
Respectfully,
Sharon Escue

Philip Escue b. 1813 in Virginia married Elizabeth Wiley on November 29, 1847 in Morgan County, Alabama. They had four children: Sarah Ruth b. 1849, Emily b. 1852, Elijah b. 1854 and Ellen b. 1858. Elizabeth's parents, Elijah Wiley and Sarah Malone lived with or near them in 1870 in Morgan County. Does Philip connect with the Escue's of Franklin Counlty, Virginia - possible the son of Philip Escue and Ruth Vandover??

Hi, Melissa. Unfortunately, I don't yet know the names of his parents. While in the Archives in Athens, AL I was working on the Escue side while my wife was working on William's wife's side (the Brooks). In the Brooks information, she saw a mention of William's father's name. Not knowing I didn't have that, she didn't write it down, but thinks it was a set of initials like A.O. Escue, or something odd like that. Wish I knew the answer to that too.

Hi. I just stumbled across this old posting. Diana F. ESCUE was my ggg grandmother. I have little information on her but do know that she was married to John Escue. She was apparenlty born in Kentucky (abt 1835). Her maiden name was Diana F. LEE. After John's death I believe she married his brother George. Children were Mary, Nancy, John and George. John Jehu Escue was my gg grandfather, born in Tn. in 1850, died in Ca. in 1925. Diana last shows up in the 1880 census in Hardin Co, Illinois. Some information re: children and dates posted on Cidi's List is confusing or may be wrong. Am eager to learn more about her and am willing to share the little I have.
