My grandfather was Luis Esparza. Nicholas Sr. was his brother. I remember as a child my grandparents telling me of Nicholas Jr. being kidnapped and his body found in the Kearny Mesa area. My mother Mary Esparza was a first cousin to Nicholas Jr. and she remembers been told of his death. She is now 82 yrs old.

He had my father with Dolores Pinedo but left the family early. All I know is he was originally from Douglas, Arizona and moved to california sometime. I am researching old records of my wife's ancestor Feliciano Ruiz de Esparza and his son Timoteo Ruiz de Esparza (b. abt 1859 in Oaxaca, Mexico m. Ramona McAleer on 13 Apr 1887. d. abt 1933).

In reading old mexican certificates, I am unable to decipher several abbreviations with my broken knowledge of the Spanish language. I'm requesting help from anyone familiar with these records, or with this family in particular! Thanks in advance anyone. And if anyone is researching these ancestors please do not hesitate to contact me.

Hello,

Before my grandfather, Gilberto Esparza passed away, he told me my great grandfather was a miner in Arizona. Although my granfather was an American citizen, he migrated at about age six with his mom to Villa Hidalgo, Jalisco, Mexico. Evidently, his dad died from mining diseases and times were rough during the depression. There were several other families who travelled to Jalisco as well. I grew up to know a good number of Esparzas but several migrated back to California. Most of the ones that I know are currently first or second generation cousins. Since Gilberto Esparza was once a mayor, there are currently records indicating his background.

He was the 1st cousin of my mother. I am looking for information also. Here is what I know. He is the son of Nicholas and Bernice. He was murdered and dumped in the Kearney mesa area. He is buried at Holy Cross cemetery, San Diego. There is a picture of him on his tombstone. Of course the family knew about it, but did not talk about it out of respect for his parents. His mother was pregnant at the time. I am very interested that it could be Gordon Stewart Northcott. I saw that movie and was very moved. His information is in Ancestry under his parents. Nicholas Esparza. I am hoping that you look at this. It has been a long time.

Hi,I am certain Elodia Aceves who lived in East Los Angeles was my husbands, grandfathers sister. His name was Tranquilino Aceves born in 1852 in Ojuelos Jalisco. He had a sister name Elodia who married an Esparaza and lived in East Los Angeles. As I understand they were all very musical and gthered at her home. My husband has cousins who remember Elodia. (no idea where this is nothing on Google) Martin married Nicolosa CALZADA (Caldoza)(born 6 Dec 1895, Gomez de Placio, Durango, Mexico daughter of Anselmo CALZADA and Tomasa ESCOBEDO) 25 Mar 1929 St. Auguestines Catholic Church, Brighton, Adams, Colorado. They had a daughter Stephana, born 26 Dec 1917, in Rifle, Garfield, Colorado and married a GARCIA. She died 1987 in Los Angeles. (SSDI)

Any information on Juan Perez(b.1894, d.1986) married to Maria de Refugio Montellano, from Chalchihuites, his son Francisco Perez and Juans siblings. Juan's sister was Teodosia Perez Hernandez, my great grandmother, died in Junciton, Texas. If you have any information, much appreciated.
