Essick brothers: John (Gilead, IN; d. 1864); and Luther (Rochester, IN)

Looking for information on the surname, Essick (spelling is uncertain). I have a connection. There were at least two brothers, named John and Luther. John apparently lived in Gilead, Indiana, and died c. 1864. My relative constructed his coffin. It seems Luther later lived in Rochester, Indiana. The family is mentioned in my g-g-grandfather's journal (David Cooper), soon to be published. I would like to learn more prior to this publication, if anything more is known of the family.

RE: Olive Essick/grandma Lillian's cousin

Olive C. Essick applied for an affidavit of birth record of my grandmother on the 28th of February 1958 for what purpose we do not know, but Olive must have lived in Murphysboro, Illinois because that is what is on record. Grandma's dad had applied for an affidavit also in December of 1957, looks like he was living in Marion, Illinois. That was sometime around the time I believe that my Uncle Jim took her back east to see her Dad for the last time, and last time she seen her sister Edna I believe. I do not know if Olive is from George W. Tuckers side or Mary D.Rice (Tucker) Poe side. Perhaps someone else knew the family. We hope so!! TK

Hello, I am hoping to find a Rhonda Essick or Essich. My father was killed in a motercycle accident when another car struck the cycle in 1977 in Michigan. Rhonda was on the back of the motercycle and I do not know if she was ok. I am 27 now and only want to know what my father was like. I know they had spent some time together. I hope this finds her well and ok and not harmed in any way from the accident. I hope to hear from someone who can help me out or Rhonda if you are out there, please do not be afraid to contact me, I would love to hear from you!

Angelique

My mother's cousin, Charles Essick, was the son of Charles Herbert Essick and Kate Shamelia Anderson. He was born October 13, 1900, and died February 3, 1990. He married Barry Douglas October 11, 1930; she was born February 4, 1898 and died September 3, 1966. He married Ruth Bickell on March 4, 1972. Charles and Barry lived in Prospect Park, PA when I knew them. After marrying Ruth, he moved to Chalfont, PA.

Does anyone have info on this family? They had no children; I am seeking siblings of Barry Douglas. Thank you!
Cyndy Kauffman

I have Rudolph Essick/Esseck living in Hopewell Twp. in 1850 with wife Leah, children Elizabeth, Michael, Rudolph and Mary A. I think Elizabeth might be my gr-gr-grandmother but had the last name spelled Essex in the family bible. When I found Rudolph Essick/Esseck (can't tell if it's an "e" or "i") in the 1850 census in Hopewell Twp., I thought it might be the right one because also in Hopewell Twp. is Elizabeth's future husband Edward Perrine Baker and his family.
Can anyone help on Essick's from the Southwest part of PA?
Sorry I didn't get back to you sooner. Looked up what I had and this is as far back as I could find:
Rudolph Essig (b. 1666 immigrates to America)
Children: George Abraham Essig (b. 1694 Germany)
Hans Michael (b. 1704 Germany)
Hans Michael died in 1759 and was buried in Trappe, PA which is in Montgomery Co. He married Justina Catherina ?
My branch decends from their son Rudolph II (1741-1815). He married Mary Nyce and had 12 children. Mary, Michael III, Elizabeth, Rudolph III, John, Catharine, Sarah, Martha, Lydia, George, Jacob and Samuel. They might have lived in Chester County, PA because their son Michael married Mary Todd, daughter of John Todd, in Chester County, PA. They had a son Rudolph who later married Leah Humble. Their daughter Elizabeth Essick was my gr-gr-grandmother. Michael Essick III moved to Washington County, PA which was Westmoreland County until the late 1700's. Michael and Rudolph can be found in the 1840, 1850, 1860, & 1870 census in Hopewell Twp., Washington Co., PA. Rudolph's daughter Elizabeth married a Edward Perrine Baker. Their daughter Arra Bell is my gr-grandmother. Some branches might have moved to Adams County, PA but I don't have anything on them.
