Hello, My Estell part of the family are from Indiana also. My ggrandfather Alfred Deloan Estell moved to Michigan after he married his 2nd wife Cora Conner. You may check out my "Tebo" family tree if you want. I will check out the names you posted on the board and see where your relatives fit with mine. From what I can find, the family began in Virginia, moved to Kentucky, then Indiana, then my branch moved to Michigan. My relatives were farmers. I'm looking for the parents of Rhoda Estell - born c. 1812. She married Charles John Lanagan on Aug. 7, 1837 in Northampton Twp., Burlington County, NJ. Charles was killed on Jan. 31, 1845 and is buried at the Methodist Episcopal Cemetery in Vincentown, NJ. In the 1850 census their two children, Japhet and Margaret, are living with the family of Martha Rogers(Kirkbride) and Joshua Hilliard. There are family connections that lead me to think Rhoda Estell may have been the daughter of Daniel (1770-1845) and Rhoda(Rogers) Estell (1776-1852). I Have 3 John Estell...John B 1839,John D 1873 & John Tucker Estell 1835 and a lot of the Tucker line Their path was from New Jersey to Cincinnati, Ohio My Grandmother was Ida Estell, John Tucker Estell's daughter. She married Marquis DeLayfette English when she was about 16 in 1895 and they divorced before 1903... They had 3 children..Mark,Beulah,& Walter W... Mark married a Anna M Studinger (B Indiana). The entire Estell family in the United States originate from 3 brothers who landed in Atlantic County, New Jersey. I believe they sailed from Scotland but originated in France. The original family name I have been told was D'Estelle and I think they came from the area around Marseilles. The family were Huguenots. I can trace my family also back to around the mid 1700s but I lost the link to the rest of the Estell's back then. My Great Great Grandfather was Jacob J. Estell and arrived in Columbiana County in Ohio with his three sons and their families. I have a tentative name of his father (believe it to be Robert) but I am not positive on that. I will dig out my papers later ans give you more exact details

Hello. I am looking for info on James Madison Estell (sometimes written as Estill). He migrated from Kentucky to Missouri to the Bay Area California. He often went by the title General although I have no military record. He was a state senator for California and helped establish San Quentin Prison. His family apparently lived in Benecia CA while he seems to have lived mainly in a hotel in San Francisco.

I see that your last name is Gibson. That is my maiden name. I also see that you have information about the Estell family. The Estells are on my mom's Mothers side of the family. I was wondering if you have a Joseph Estell (1862-1956) married Mary Lydia Gibson (1868-????). I have a Joseph going back to George W. then to Thomas and the to another Thomas. I have been told that we originally come form England and maybe Dutch. My Grandma Shirley Irene (Estell) Asche, has always lived in Indiana. Her family lived where the proving grounds are in Madison, Indiana. They were made to leave, so a lot of our family history has been misplaced since. She has live in Ripley and Decatur Counties, she past away last year. She was the last Grandparent that I had.

My Estell connection is Indiana. I don't know how they got there. If you could fill any holes, I would greatly appreciate it.

Joseph Estell- born 1862 was my Great Great Grandpa, he married Mary Lyda (Gibson) Estell- born 1868. They married in 1887. They had five children (not sure of the age order): Russell, Gladis, Pearl, Raymond, Aubrey, and Brian.
Russell Estell - born February 7th in 1892 was my Great Grandpa, he married Sarah Anna (Perkins) Estell- born September 9th in 1893 was my Great Grandma. They married in 1912. They had six children: Edwin R, Della Grace, Shirley Irene, Gerald Ray, Joe F, and William Arthur.
Shirley Irene (Estell) Asche- born June 20th in 1917 was my Grandma.

I have a Pearl Estell in my family. My Grandma Shirley Irene (Estell) Asche's parents were Russell Estell born 1892 and Sarah Anna (Perkins) Estell. Russell had a sister named Pearl. Here is a list of the siblings not in order:

Your last name is very interesting to me because, my family line of the Estell family is connected to the Gibson family in two ways.

My Great Grandpa was Russell Estell born February 7th in 1892 and my Great Grandma was Sarah Anna (Perkins) Estell born September 9th in 1893. They married in 1912.

Russell's parents, my Great Great Grandpa Joseph Estell born in 1862 and my Great Great Grandma Mary Lyda (Gibson) Estell born in 1868. They married in 1887.

My maiden name is Gibson. My Grandma Shirley Irene (Estell) Asche married my Grandpa Hershel Harold Asche oldest of the three children they had, my Mom married my Dad. He was the fifth of seven children of my Grandpa Wesley Gibson and my Grandma Martha Adina (Coffey) Gibson.

I was given his wifes first name only but it is a match because it is an unusual name. Ora is the brother of my GGrandfather. This is the info I have on Ora's sons. i have a pearl estell in my family tree whom i know little about.she was the daughter of my great grandmother dora russell who married george estell whom i am told was a sailor.doras marriage was not a happy one and she had a nervous breakdown and ended up in the state hospital in toledo,ohio where she died in 1918.4 of the children ended up in the miami childrens home in toledo and i know a 5th-howard was adopted out to a family named king.the estell children were ,besides howard,calvin who was born 8-19-1899 and i am told became a sailor and died at sea.katherine,born 4-24-1897,ruth born 5-19-1902 and pearl whom i have no info on except that she must have lived in florida later in life as i was told that dora's brother fred's son recalled visiting pearl in florida and that she had a daughter who worked at a state hospital.fred is in his 90s now and still lives in toledo which is the area these estells lived.let me know if any of that fits your pearl.i am decended from a daughter dora had prior to her marriage to george estell,alta mable russell-take care-dennis

Hello. I am trying to determine if the Sarah who was married to Robert Templeton in the 1880 Missouri Census (Osage/Brownington, page 2/472B, E.D. #181) was nee Estell.

According to that census, she was born about 1848 in Indiana. I've found a Sarah, age 3, daughter of Job Estell in 1850 Indiana Census living in Washington Township of Hamilton County ... approximately the right age.

I'm actually tracking the Templeton family, but this Robert Templeton is a mystery.
