I haven't been doing much research lately and am getting back into it.

Wow, her death is a wake up call to stay in touch with everyone. This is really sad.

Re: Confirmation of Ethier Native blood!

There would have to be more 'proof' than a pencil mark on a census to affirm any Indian ancestry. I am in their direct line. One of their sons' is George Atchey. My Great Grandfather. (The name change happened with his generation.) George is one of a few children born in Canada.
The rest were born in Wis.I have photo's of some of this family and please believe me when I say they are not Indian. They have been traced back to 1640 in France. Leonard Ethier was the first to come to Canada. He married, had about 14 children. His younger brother, Francois, came when he was old enough. He married and had two children, Francois, his children and Leonard were all killed by the Mohawk (I believe Mohawk.) Indians. I don't know if Leonards wife married again. Francois' wife may have, but, since there is no lineage with her, it doesn't matter if she re-married.
I don't know if you'll ever read this for your friend. But, if so, as far as any of my research or anyone else's there are no Indian ancestors. Hope this helps..
S.J.Roth
sj.roth38@hotmail.com

Hello,
I was informed that Jeanne-Therese and their two children had been captured by the Indians. The children were murdered by the Indians as was Leonard and Francois. Wouldn't trace Jeanne-Therese because she is not a blood ancestor. According to what I was told she was traded for some Indians the whites had captured. So, ALL these Ethiers running around came from Leonard and ELizabeth and their 14 children.!!

If you ever check this post, I and probably a million others are related to Leonard Ethier. He was the only one to survive in Canada, marry and have at least 14 children. His younger brother, Francois came over from France sometime after Leonard and also married. They only had two children. The Indians went on an attack and killed Francois and his two children, His wife was traded for some Indians that had been captured by the whites. and Leonard was killed at the same time. Of course Francois' wife was not our blood ancestor, so I don't know what happened to her.
It is truly amazing how many ancestors Leonard left. I have a great deal of info, probably more than is necessary.LOL I have Leonard's parents snd Etienne's also.
I don't mind sharing info. If people did not share with me I would not have this boat load of info in 3" notebooks.
Happy Hunting!
sj.roth38@hotmail.com

I am trying to find any information on Celestin Vasseur or Levasseur who was married to Ursule Ethier. They had a daughter Virginie who married Gedeon Napoleon Girard in 1868 in Montreal (St-Enfant-Jesus de Miles End). The marriage record of Virginia shows her father Celestin Levassuer was deceased and her mother was Ursule Ethier. It also mentions an uncle Pierre Ethier. I can't find anything on Ursule, Celestin or Virginia prior to that marriage record. Some later census records indicate Virginia was born in Quebec and some say Ontario. Any help would be appreciated.

Looking for biological father, Joseph Ethier!

Hi everyone,

My name is David C. Girard and I'm 28 years old. I have been born and raised in Northbay, and lived in Sudbury at around 4 years old. I was deceived to beleive that my stepfather "David N. Girard" was my real father until I reached the age 18 when my mother told me after leaving him!
My biological father's name is, Joseph Ethier! He should be around 65-70 years old today! He met my mother in 1979-1980, her name is Joanne Lavallee! She was around 21 years old when she met him.
This is general information about what I know. My mother will not tell me anything about him, but I wish to reunite with him and understand who I am and where I come from! I feel like there has been a big void in my life. If anyone has information, it would be great to know!
I could have more brothers and sisters out there that would be wonderful to meet one day! I don't know, I've lived 28 years of my life not knowing anything! Please help, thank you!

Hello,

Have some information about how you can locate your sister.

Talked with Debra at the NH Archives and Debra told me that the best way to locate your sister was to contact

Beverly Boden
(603) 357-3510 ext. 765

Beverly works at the Post Adoption Agency Unit
research search.
You have the information you need, mother's name, date and place of birth.
Once Beverly has located the information she will give the NH Archives premission to release the information.
Unfortantly, I will not be able to pick that up for you. You will have to provide the archives with a photo id, and $12.00.

Debra told me that Beverly has the means to tell you where your sister is living.

How about that?

I will be here to help you in any way that I can.
Please let me know how you make out. I am really hoping for you.

Best,
Beth

I found a Benjamin Ethier and Henrietta Young....however I don't believe that they raised your sister...Benjamin was born 7.4.1856 and died 4/12/1917.... his wife Henrietta was born in 1860. They had several children Harriett, David Benjamin, Joseph, Anna, Mary, Marie and Arthur....according to the family tree there is still one living child from this union....there is no info about this child. Benjamin was born in Black Creek, NY and resided in the Berkshire of Massachusetts until his death in 1917. I am going to continue to look at these names and family...if I find anything I will let you know. I am related to the Ethiers but have no knowledge of this family. Perhaps David Benjamin was the person who took your sister but again it is unlikely as his dob is 1887. I will email the person who put this tree online and see if they are aware of your sister.
