Etienne, France to Dominica

Hello my name is Gloria Etienne me and my family come from England.My grandad's name was Crookman Etienne and my dad's name was Joseph Etienne.They came from Dominica (Laroche,Delices). We know that are ancestors before them came from France.We know that there were two brothers who came from France and went to different parts of Dominica or the Carribean and had children so some how we think all the Etienne's are connected.We have family who live in England,Dominica and America.

Dear All

I'm researching a family name of EIGHTEEN and one theory I've come across is that the family were perhaps Huguenots who settled in Hadleigh, Suffolk, UK. There is a family living there in the late 16th cent, recorded as AYTTON, but this changes to AITON and then EIGHTEEN(E) appears during the next century in this area of Hadleigh.

Has anyone on the list got experience of Huguenot ancestry as I would like to explore this theory farther?

Dear Family Members

I am starting from ground zero.
Most of the members of my family that would have this information are deceased. i am searching for information regarding my great-great grandmother. Her name was Virginia Etienne. She married a man who's last name was Cager. My great-grandfather (her son's) name was Joseph Cager. They lived in an area known then as Fazanville, Louisiana in the late 1800's to early 1900's, later moving to New Orleans still east of the industrial Canal (DownTown area).

I would like to know where she was born. Who were her parents and if they were originally from France.

I was told that my native american bloodline also came from her side of the family. If anyone has knowledge of any part of this woman's history, please contact me.

I am trying to locate descendants of the ARKUSH and MANLEY families who might be able to help me. In the Norwich NY library, I found an older photocopy of a fading family bible record. One line follows:

Herbert Hovey MANLEY b. 1857 in MN, who ended up in Chicago then San Gabriel.

His daughter Dorette MANLEY b. 1889 married Ellis John ARKUSH. They lived in Redwood City, Hillsborough, and Burlingame.

They had Ellis John ARKUSH Jr. b.1914 and Carol Doris ARKUSH b.1915.

Ellis John ARKUSH Jr. married Laura Pearson and had daughter Sharon.

Carol Doris ARKUSH married Robert ETIENNE and had children Robert Jr, Dorelle, and John Roger.

The reason I'm trying to track this line is that the bible record was contributed by a Helen Nicol Tanois(?) of Burbank. I have written to the address given and have not received either an answer or returned letter. The name and address are handwritten and a little hard to decipher. There are parts of this bible record that are just unreadable, and I would love to track down whoever might own the bible to see if the bible record could be re-scanned with today's modern tech. This California line is not directly related to me, but the line from an ancestor is. Grateful for any clues!

I have Jean Pierre Etienne born 1872 in Buvange, Belgium, married Catherine Hebeler in Belgium. Jean was the son of Pierre Etienne born 1828 in Hondelange, Belgium and Elisabeth Decker. Pierre may have married a second time to Marie Richard. Jean and Catherine immigrated to Chicago, Illinois early 1900's.

I have been researching the anchestors of Marie Wittmer, 1792-1860. She settled in the Leopold, Indiana area. Our family tree bumps into the Etienne tree in several places. Oscar Etienne, now deceased, Earl Etienne, Justin Etienne, and Leonard Etienne all live in Perry County, Indiana and have descendents who I would like to know more about. Also Henry Etienne 1874-1970 m. Julia Beck. I believe I am a direct anchester of Julia's family.
