I believe my great grandfather is the Will Etier from Hebert, LA you were referring to. My grandmother was one of 10 or so children of William Alexander Etier who grew up along the Boeuf River at the old Etier homeplace who is now owned by her younger brother Carey. If you have any info we can share I am looking to fill in the Etier side of my family tree. Thanks,

Chris

Unfortunately, I do not have any information about Pierre Etier's family, but your search closely parallels mine.

As you probably know, there were 3 Etiers (Joseph, Pierre, Fafa) in Ouachita Parish in 1810 and 1820 according to census data. I think Pierre and and Joseph are still there in the 1830 census, along with Fafa's widow, but the census taker wrote the name Aitia.

Do you know if these Etiers are brothers? Do you have any information about their families?

I have been told that FaFa's actual name was Jean Baptiste Ethier (Etier), and according to internet sources, he has an ancestry that goes back to the early settlement of Quebec province.

My ancestor is Rosalie (Rosella) Etier, who I think was a daughter of Jean Baptiste Ethier and his wife, Emilia (Emily, Melite) Olivo.

I would like to compare notes with you.

Thanks.

Hello, I married an Etie. I have had alot of fun tracking down his and my children's family.I have made connections with his family going back to Pierre Etier, I believe the first Etier in LA about 1795. Off the top of my head from Pierre to his son Joachim to Emanuel J to John Jefferson Davis Etie to Jefferson Davis Etie his son George Etie is my husband's father. I think I might have missed one ancestor inbetween Pierre and Joachim. I have evidence of ancestors moving from New Iberia to San Leon and Galveston in Galveston County, TX and Houston, TX . Emanuel was a judge in New Iberia, his sons and nephews were found in Houston as painters and masons. His daughter was in Galveston as a seamstress. I have a census image on a William in or around Beaumont. I keep thinking it was a William Henry. Would there be a relation to one in that area?

I found Ruth Anderson Etier while in Hunt Co.TX applied for a Civil Confererate Pension. Her husband who served was James Fletcher Anderson. If I understand the information correctly, she applied after her husbands death and after another marriage to (?) Etier. Do these names grow on you tree. My married name is Etie and we live in Galveston, TX. Our last name started out Etier, with Pierre Etier. In my search for Etie in TX, I have run across a few Etier. Though I do not recall Bennett Etier. If I come across him I wil get back to you.

Hello - I'm not sure, but it is possible. The Etier name is not a common name. I will have to contact my G-aunt Ruth Etier to get more names from her husbands side. He is deceased and has been for many years. I will get more info and get back to you.
Do you have any Wilson's that married Etier's in your line, in OK? My G-aunt Ruth Wilson Etier was born in OK. Her parents were Bert (possibly Albert) and Beulah Breckenridge Wilson.
I'm sorry to respond to this message so late, but I just received it! I do not know what took so long. Regards, kds
