Ruth M. Down Etter, 90, formerly of 6443 Glade Dr.,
died Tues., March 4, 2008
at Manchester Presbyterian Lodge.
She was born Aug. 28, 1917 in Erie,
daughter of the late William and Mamye Petermen Down.
A lifelong resident of Erie, she attended Strong Vincent High School and worked in food service for Millcreek School District for over 30 years retiring in 1982. She was a member of Perkins Presbyterian Church where she belonged to the Pilgrims Group and Miracle Mile Seniors. She was a volunteer for Kearsarge Food Pantry which operated out of Perkins Presbyterian Church; enjoyed golf, playing with a league at Orchard Pond Golf Course; and also enjoyed gardening. She was preceded in death by her husband, Herbert S. Etter in 1956 and three brothers, Robert, Herbert and Kenneth Down. Survivors include two sons, Kenneth H. Etter and his Elaine of Erie
and William L. Etter of Allison Park, Pa.;
two granddaughters, Tania L. Etter of Redwood, Calif.
and Lori Gallon and her husband Raymond of Pittsburgh, Pa.; four grandsons, Bryan Etter of Sterling, Ill.,
Mark Etter of Raleigh, N.C.,
Gregory Etter and wife Janet of Lake City,
and Bradley Etter of Erie;
eight great-grandchildren;
and several nieces, nephews,
grandnieces and grandnephews.
Friends may call Thursday 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Scott Funeral Home, 2104 Myrtle St. A service will be held at Perkins Presbyterian Church, 5440 Washington Ave., Friday at 11 a.m. with the Rev.
