SAM EVENS
Dieter and Malung Townships, Roseau Co, MN
Sam Evens was born in Decorah, iowa in 1876 to Mr and Mrs Ole Even Ramstad, who came to RoseauCounty and settled in Dieter Township in 1898. In 1894, Sam changed his name, choosing to use his father's second name as a surname and thus became Sam Evens.
Sam was married in 1898 to Aster SIRENES. She has immigrated from telemark, Norway with her parents Knute and Ragnild Sirenes in 1883. They settled in Section 30 of Malung Township in 1898.
When Knute Sirenes died in 1900, that farm became the property of his wife Ragnild. She conveyed it by deed to Sam and Aster Evens in 1904. They continued to live on the farm until 1944 when they retired and moved into a home in Roseau. Sam died in 1945 and Aster in 1955.
They had eight children:
