I just started to trace my lineage back and feel I have a found the point at which my family immigrated to the USI...I found where William T Evenson( Evanson listed in the 1880 Wisconsin Census)lived in the city of Baldwin county of St. Croix, in Wisconsin...He was married to Esther(no middle int. or maiden last name) and they had 8 kids! All in the town of Baldwin I believe....My question is how did you find immigration records, the ship and port of entry? Did you have that info prior to your search....Also my last name is Evenson and I wonder if there was a name spelling change or was it just mispelled in the census records? Did you encounter this in your search as well?
