Hi there!

Thanks for replying. I know some of your family line. My husband is related to both the Everard and Stack families, as it is his tree I am doing.
Denis Everard's brother, James, married 1890 Mary Joseph Pridham, my husband's 1st cousin twice removed.
I have a lot of information on the Pridham, Chafe & Stack families, but I have some gaps in my Everard tree that I would love to fill. Perhaps we could help each other.
My email is trishewillis@syd.eastlink.ca and I would love to hear from you again.
Trishe

Hi
I have an ancestor Ethel Maud Vincent, who left Australia in approx 1890-1900, went to the UK, then to Jamaica, then married a man called Everhard, who apparently died years later in a car crash.

Does that story ring a bell with anyone? A long shot I know, but this all I have gleaned about the lady
Cheers Tim

Patrick A. Everard

I have been trying to trace Patrick A. Everard for about 8 years. He married Helen Theresa Murphy and they had at least one daughter Margaret(b 1900). He was born in Ireland (listed as Irish Free State in 1930 Census listing for Margaret)around 1870 and emigrated to the USA date unknown. I assume he was Catholic as my father was, so he may be in parish records. I'd appreciate any help you can provide.
Re: EBERHARDT

If all you have about the Joy family being barge builders is what is in a Census Record that's not much, unfortunately. But it's a start. Do you have a tree that links the Everards to the Joy's and your line? I'll contact someone else who might be able to shed light on the Joys being barge builders.

Regarding knowing any living Everards - as I mentioned in my first post to you our Chairman at www.thamesmatch.co.uk is an Everard. He's a businessman and rather busy. I doubt whether he'd be inclined to get personally involved in your queries.

However ... there is an extended family ... and one of them might have caught the family history bug. Having said that ... they've been managers and directors of F. T. Everard [Eberhardt until 1917] & Sons Ltd. since F. T. E. set it up in the late 19th. century ... so they already know their history - inside out!

What I suggest is that you set out exactly what you're trying to discover. Take your time and provide a well structured summary of your current research situation, why you've come up against a problem and what information you're trying to discover and why. I won't make any promises, but depending on how presentable your request is, I may be able to put it to him.

Mike

Theresa,

Sorry about the delay.

I see from the responses to your *Eberhardt* RootsChat posting you've made good progress 20-23 April 2008! If you want to find out about FTE's family barge building you could read the official history *Everard Of Greenhithe* by Capt. K. S. Garrett. It is out of print but you could Google it and find a 2nd. hand source.

I'm interested in the JOY family - as you say they were barge builders. This is new info to me - I thought I knew the main ones. Maybe they were minor builders who didn't specialise in barges but did build some as part of general boat building activities. Do you have any more info?

Regards, Mike
Dear Theresa,

Your Frederick Thomas Eberhardt (1858-1901) is interesting. I know of a Frederick T. Eberhardt (????-1929) of Greenhithe, Kent, England. He was a shipwright and founded the Everard Thames sailing barge [and later coastal shipping line] dynasty. He changed his name to Everard in 1917. Maybe my FTE is the son of your FTE? Or maybe it's all just a coincidence! Anyway, look forward to hearing from you.

Regards,

Mike Wignall
Thames Sailing Barge Match Committee [Chmn.

Four children of John William Everard and Elizabeth Margaret Smith immigrated to the Cleveland Ohio area in the late 1800's and early 1900's They were John Walter, Frederick Robert,Albert Henry, and Elizabeth Sarah who came with her husband Robert Stables. Fredericks wife was Lavinia Georgina Hopkins. Albert's wife was Anne or Anna Noble Ireland. John Walter immigrated in 1894 he was married to Margaret Mackereth in 1891 around Ulverston England. I don't know if she was with him. It is beleived that Frederick and Lavinia migrated to California and John W went to Indiana and may have left there for California Albert Stayed in the Cleveland area as did three of his children John W who married Mabel Irene scouten, Ada who mariied Willima Weinmann , and Elizabeth Alice. His son Fred and wife Stella Booth eventualy migrated to Michigan . I have been in touch with a great grandson of John William in Barrow in Furness England we are intersted in compiling a family history.

Everard's in Newfoundland

I believe the Everards first settled in Petty Harbour, Newfoundland, and then branched out from there. In researching my husband's family tree, I have been unable to find out when they first arrived there and from where. I am lead to believe it was somewhere in Ireland but I have been unable to confirm this. If anyone has any information on the Newfoundland branch of the Everard family, I would very much like to hear from them.

Thank you,

Judy Everard

Hi

My Antoine Eugene Gerard also came from Alsace-Lorraine. He was from the village of Nitting in the Alsace province and nearby was another village where my great aunt met Antoine and married there before she and her husband came to the USA. They settled in Lewis County in NYS and lived nearby to her brother, Christopher EVRARD (French spelling). Another brother, Nicholas, settled on the next plot of land on the edge of Beaver Falls. All three families originally had property one after the other on the road between the villages of Croghan and Beaver Falls--about a miles difference apart.

I am new to family research. My great-great grandmother was from Boston. She was supposedly born in Boston in 1850 so that would be prior to the time you are speaking of. I have a good bit of information on her. She and my g.g. grandfather John Buter named one of their sons George Everard Butler. I'm not sure where the Everard came from but he was born in 1878 so even this was before the time you mentioned.

Let me know if any of this helps.
