I am from a branch of Everitts who left Everittstown, NJ in the early 1800's. Some went all the way across the country.
Some went to Ohio and changed the spelling of their name to Everett.
David Everitt and his wife Sarah and some of his children went North to Union Springs, NY on Lake Cayuga. David is my ggg grandfather and was named after his uncle David. --- As to the spelling of our name: we can trace our spelling back to the 1600's in this country and Everitt is a more freguent way to spell the name in England. So I tend to believe that our family should always spell it with an "i". Has anyone traced us back to England
