TRACING THE MAGSAMEN FAMILY WHICH BEGAN IN NYC

I have been attempting to trace the Magsamen family. I have vague, sketchy information and knowledge about them. My father was John A. Magsamen, who served in WWII. He passed away in June of 1968 and is buried in a military cemetery on Long Island, NY.

My father’s mother was Alice Magsamen (previously Alice Cully), and had remarried after my grandfather’s death. My grandfather was Adam Alexis Magsamen, who passed away at the age of 33 years. My father John “Jack” Adam Magsamen had one sister, Alice Magsamen who passed away on May 1, 2006. She died in the Bronx.

My great-great grandfather's name was Adam Magsamen born in Germany about 1847 and married Emilie Gloeckle, born in New York City around 1858. They also had a child by the name of Emily Magsamen, who was one year old at the time.

My grandmother’s grandfather’s name was: William Cully who married Honora Noonan around 1865 in New York, NY. Alice Cully’s father’s name was John “N” Cully, who married Ellen Ward around 1890. John Cully may have remarried again in 1922.

I am attempting to locate the burial places for the two Adam Magsamens, and their wives. I would like to put the pieces together as to where Ida and Maud Ward fit and how they are related to me. In addition, there is a Catherine Bathgate, Emily F. Magsamen, Emilie Gloeckle and a Hesione Cully, which I cannot find and have very little information.

If you feel you are related or have any information with regard to the above individuals, please contact me. It will be much appreciated. Thank you.

Shari: I am also descended from John Henderson Everman. I just noticed your post and realized you might be able to solve two mysteries for me. The first is the spelling of Jane Kirtpatrick, or is it Kirkpatrick? The other is about Terrence McGinnis. I found two marriage licenses for him, four years apart, both to Everman women. Catherine was the last. The first, I believe in 1890, was to "Etta Everman." I know Catherine had a sister, but I have found nothing more on her other than that she was married to Terrence. Did the first sister die? I have information on the Everman, and especially the Clements lines. I would be happy to share. Marilyn Shanta.

Hi Anita, my name is Nancy, I fit into this Everman bunch, somewhere. I know that in 1732, my Everman's came to Pennsylvania, from Germany, on the ship Mary. From there the generations headed west, my Everman's settling in Clark County, Missouri. My mother was an Everman, her father Everett. Then it goes back as follows: George Thomas; William Blufford; Andrew N.; ? Everman; Jacob Everman, Michael Ebermann, born in Germany about 1676. So you see, I think we need to talk. What do you think?

Nancy
jerry469@centurytel.net
Am trying to find any information about Malinda Everman. She married Charles Edwards 2Dec1841 in Jasper Co. IL. She married Isaac Wright 6Dec1852. I found her in the 1860 census Jasper Co. IL. According to that census she was born about 1815. She had 3 children by Charles Edwards and 3 by Isaac Wright. It is possible that she was married prior to having married Charles Edwards, as she would have been about 26 yr. in 1841. Have not been able to find any Everman that married a Malinda. Any information would be greatly appreciated.

EVERMAN - JASPER or CUMBERLAND counties ILLINOIS

Seeking the husband of Anna Everman who is a widow in the 1860 Cumberland IL census with six children. Youngest child, Susan, is aged 2 so husband died shortly before the census was taken.

Unable to locate a marriage for Anna and Everman. What is Anna's maiden name and when were they married. Per census, her children were all born in Illinois and that the deceased husband was born in Ohio.

Any clues to this family will be appreciated greatly.

Possibility is an Alfred Everman born about 1817 who is buried in the Mound Cemetery in Jasper County IL. But he was born in KY per online records. I know that Anna's daughter Susan had a daughter (Anna Munyon) who married my husband's grandfather (Walter LaRue) who lived in Jasper County IL.

My 3ggm was Elizabeth Everman, born about 1785 in Ky. Her father was Samuel Everman, whose parents were possibly Jacob and Barbara Eberman who I believe were from Rhineland, Germany. Elizabeth married William Dehays on 25 Sept 1810. I'd like any information about the Everman-Eberman's that you may have. Thank you very much.
David Nearon

MORE ON John H. Everman

To Linda Meacham:
Hi: My great grandfather is John Henderson Everman, b 10-25-1843 in Kentucky; died 4-11-1917 in Mt. Auburn, Christian County, Illinois. His parents were John Everman who died before 1870 in Christian County, Illinois; and his mother was Jane Kirkpatrick, born about 1805 in possibly Montgomery County, Kentucky, who died probably in Christian County, Ill. I have been trying to make a connection with the original Evermans of Kentucky, but still haven't figured out where John and Jane fit in. Also need to verify information I have on those two. I feel there's something I'm missing in Illinois, like which Illinois county they came to first after leaving Kentucky, and who John H's siblings were. Thanks. Keep in touch....

More on Kenneth Everman

Hi, Dorothy: This is one I'm sure of. My grandfather's brother was Herbert Everman and Kenneth was one of my grandfather's nephews. I have an old photograph I can't identify. When I get my scanner figured out, I'll try to send you a copy to see if you know any of them. I think they may be some Evermans. At least I hope so. I know Herbert's son was Kenneth Everman. I met Kenneth many years ago, and remember him coming to my grandfather's farm. All the family was from Mt. Auburn, Illinois. I have information going back a couple of generations into the Everman family, nothing, however on Vioda. Anything I have, you are welcome to. I am researching the Everman (Kentucky to Ilinois), Clements (Indiana to Illinois), Kirkpatrick (Kentucky to Illinois) lines, all tied to the same family. Maybe we can help each other. Thanks -- Marilyn.
