Re: Florence and Donald Evert

My mother was a sister to Florence. To my knowledge Florence is still alive as far as I know as the last I heard from her was when my mother passed away in 1999. At that time Florence lived in Napoleon, OH. Florence had four children, Donna and a son (whose name I cannot remember now) from Don, then she remarried to a man whose last name was Madison and had two more children, Eddie and Cathy. They all at one time lived in the Napoleon area. If I can be of any other help, you may email me at peifers@mchsi.com as I am not a member of ancestry.com
I also had a great grandfather by the same name. He was born in Prussia around 1869, and immigrated to the US in 1892. I know he lived in the Chicago area for a time then later settled in Cleveland. He died in 1941. I believe he had about 10 kids, one of which was my grandmother, Anna.

Dale

George's mother's name was Lilian Martha Anthony Wintridge and his father's name was George (Henry?) Peterson. And George AR Peterson (my grandfather) was born in 1918 but died in 1964.
Hello Mary Beth,

Thank you for your response to my query. I'm still searching for my gr-grandmother's family. I've ordered 4 (or more!) birth records from Cook Co., IL for all "Hall" female babies that were born on July 1, 1874-76. I have her marriage lic., death cert., and the 1900, 1910 and 1920 census records. Other than family stories, we don't know very much about her. She just MAY have been the little 4 year old girl that was living with the REIMUND family during the 1880 census.

I would appreciate any information that you might learn about Rose/Rosa Laura Hall, born July 1, 1875 in IL.

Thanks again,
Bonnie

I know these posts are old, but I have a dead end on my grandfater Frank J. Jordan. I have only one Toledo, Ohio census to work from. He was born in Texas around 1889 and your info about the redheads and twins, made me think there may be a connection. Frank lived common-law with my grandmother Marcella (Scheele) Jewell in Rossford Ohio. He worked in the Lime quarry there and died farily young in 1932 of White Lung. He had 7 children, several redheads and twin sons named Ray and Roy. I was wondering if you knew if Mary (Everts) son Frank moved to Ohio or there were any connections with California or Ohio.

As in Joan's post, my EVERT family from Illinois changed their name from EVERT to EVERETT. My grandfather Archibald Everett was born in Chicago, on May 21, 1888. My great grandfather's name was Ferdinand H. Evert, and I think he was born in Pennsylvania, but spent most of his life in Illinois. Ferdinand was born about 1858. I would LOVE to have any information on my Evert ancestors. This is the first time I have posted a message online ~ Thank you! Bonnie

From Poland to Detroit: 9 (?) Evert siblings at turn of last century

I'm looking for any help I can get, preferably on parentage, of what family tradition says were nine Evert siblings that immigrated into the Detroit, MI area over a period that ranged from at least 1902 through 1912. I've only been able to identify five of them so far: Jadwiga (aka Hedwig) Evert Setera, b. 28 Sep 1881 d. 9 Jan 1944; Marja (aka Mary Ann) Evert Setera, b. 30 Aug 1883 d. 13 Nov 1942; Rose Evert Ryba, b. about 1889, d. unknown; John Paul Evert, b. 19 Jun 1891, d. 25 Jun 1937; and Agnes Evert Majka, b. 19 Jun 1892, d. 28 Apr 1979. With the exception of Rose, who moved with her husband Joseph Ryba to the far northern reaches of Michigan's lower peninsula (where they had at least 9 children), all of these Everts lived out their lives in the immediate Detroit area, as have most of their children and grandchildren. Any clues as to the identities of the missing four siblings, and especially on the names and locations of the parents, would be sincerely appreciated.

By the way, I strongly suspect at least one of the birth years for John and/or Agnes is incorrect, as family tradition (in spite of the discrepancy in birth years) holds that these two were twins. And the double occurence of 'Setera' as a married name is not a typo; these sisters married brothers Joseph Setera (b. 20 Dec 1879 d. 25 Dec 19450) and Valentine Setera (b about 1883 d. 14 Aug 1960), respectively.

Thanks for the response Jim. It's hard trying to piece some things together as I cannot confirm relationships. I'm basing my beliefs that Louis Evert was a man and not Louise, as there was a record that he was naturalized and back at that time period very few women were.

My GGgrandfather's name was Theodore Evert, I've only found a match for his name in the Mecklenburg-Schwerin area. I know there has to be some type of connection between the Saginaw Evert family and the Cleveland, OH Evert family (my ancestors). My Ggrandfather, Albert must have moved to Saginaw for a reason, maybe hearing about work up here through a relative.

Curiously, the name Louise does pop up on the Evert side of my family. Albert Evert had five daughters: Gertrude, Lizzetta, Helen Elizabeth(my grandmother), Elizabeth Louise (called Louise) and Catherine.

I don't know of any relations in Wisconsin, but I know there must be a Saginaw connection. I appreciate your suggestions and will keep working on tracking leads and posting them. Thanks again!!

Heidi

I am afraid I have nothing on Louis or Albert Evert. If you have looked at the family tree posted on Ancestry.com, then you (unfortunately) have all the info I have available to me. My eldest remaining aunt, Rosemary Evert (73) cannot remember anyone with those names either. However, consider this: the Louis Evert you found might be a Louise instead (?). A long shot, but who knows.
You mentioned your grandmother was born in Saginaw - what was HER maiden name? Maybe a link there somewhere.
Far be for me to advise you on where to look, but have you checked the cemeteries in Saginaw? They were extremely helpful to me when I was actively looking for info (maybe that isn't necessarily what you need, I don't know!)
Please, keep in touch. Maybe we can figure this out yet!

Jim

Ferdinand EVERT, son of William EVERT and Sophia (Sophie) HENTZ, from Mecklenburg, GERMANY. I'm posting a reply to my own "Post". I have learned more about my EVERT family and I would like to make these corrections: My g-grandfather, Ferdinand H. EVERT was born on July 26, 1873 in Forest Park, IL (per Death Cert.). He married Rosa (Rose) Laura HALL on March 30, 1893, in Chicago, Illinois. They were from Harlem, IL (per Marraige Lic.), which became Forest Park, IL in 1907. He died in Chicago, on September 12, 1947. His sister, Alvina Evert ERNST, from Maywood, IL, was the informant on Ferdinand's Death Cert.
"Rosy" was born on July 1, 1875 perhaps in Iowa (per 1880 Census in Urbana, Champaign County, IL) ...or Chicago, IL (per Death Cert.). The 1880 Census states that she was a 4 year old "Boarder" with the REIMUND family in Urbana, IL. She died on October 23, 1928, in Chicago. Any information about the EVERT, HENTZ, HALL, ERNST or REIMUND family would be greatly appreciated. THANK YOU, Bonnie Arnold

Has anyone heard of Christina Evert (b. about 1730 in Wollersheim, Germany); married Windle Eppard (or Ebert) in 1754 in PA. Windle's father (Hans George Eppard (Ebert) of Wollersheim, Ger.) immigrated with 106 Palatines and their families on the Ship Britannia in 1731.

Does anyone know the names of Christina's parents?
I can find no record of her immigration. She had three children by Windle: the first child was Johan George Eppard, b: 23 APR 1780, in Rockingham Co., VA. He became my 4th generation Great Grandfather. Her second son was Phillip B. Eppard b: 23 APR 1780 in Shenandoah Co. VA.
David Evert and Descendents

Hello. I have been trying for years to find some additional information on the mysterious David Evert! My children are descended from him through my ex, whose maiden name was Evert.

I already have some information posted on Acestry World Tree, showing my children's line of descendency from David Evert. However, let me run some data past you first, to make sure that we're dealing with the same David Evert.

I have some data taken from the 1870 census (taken on June 16, 1870) of Mount Carmel Borough, Northumberland County, Pennsylvania.

Evert, David 44 blacksmith
Lovina [Camp] W 45 keeping home
Alonzo S 17 apprentice to blacksmith
Mary D 15 at home
Daniel S 13 at home
Alfred S 9
Laura D 6
Cyrus S 4
Alaminta D 1

Does any of this ring a bell? My children are descended from Alfred, whose full name was Benjamin Alfred Evert.

Are any of the above-named daughters the Minnie Mae Evert that you described? Or, was she born after 1870?

Do you know where David Evert was buried?
Re: Evert Family

I am researching the Angst line. I have found that the wife of Charles William Evert was Rose Amelia Sutter whose parents were Joseph and Mary Angst Sutter. I received this info from someone who probably picked it up from this source.I have some Angst and Sutter from Ohio but cannot connect. Do you have any further info on either the Angst or Sutter line? Thank you. Helen Gengler (Chesaning)

Clark Everts/Mary Hall Letter - 1906

I have a letter to Clark Everts dated Jan. 14, 1906 with postmark Mt. Pleasant IA. It was written by Mary Hall. Not sure how these folks fit into my Walker family, however, the letter was in my dad's estate (Haskell Walker). Other names mentioned in the letter: Mrs. Dill, Rev. Powlson, Comodore Elliott, Mr. Morrow, Mr. Walker, Mr. Ross, Miles (prob. Morrow), Grace & Kate ( who may be some kin to Clark). Will be happy to share the letter with anyone who is interested. Would love to know the Walker connection.
