Dear Trakka
I'm not related to the Ewald's except through a connection and I have been doing a Heidke family tree, for one of that family. I'm quite happy to share what I have, you may have more than I do!! But it seems it is the same family. Carl Ewald's mother was Caroline Lunbagh or Limberg, Carl's sister, Johanna married a Heidke and that is how the connection came about. Regards Sonny

Hello there.
Not sure if our families are related, but my wife' 2nd Great Grandfather was Carl Ewald, and his wife was Emma Otilie Wohlgemuth. They had 10 children all born in Queensland: Heindrich Carl (b.21.1890), Auguste Emilie (b.27.3.1891), Lydia Ernestine (my wife's Great Grandma, (born 6.11.1893), Reinhardt Ferdinand (b. 23.5.1895), Gertrude Eugenie (b. 5.10.1896), Clara Elizabeth (b. 16.6.1898), Ärich Konrad (26.5.1901-26.9.1914), Conrad Wilhelm (b.27.6.1906), Hubert Ferdinand (b. 8.4.1908), and Alma Adelheide (b. 30.8.1909). I know my wifes family generally flourished around Rockhampton in later generations, and may have started out in Maryborough. Would love to know if there is a connection?!
Cheers Trakka

Emma Ewald

The only info I have on her is that she married John Burten Gardner on 28 Dec.,1899. I cannot find a birth certificate on her. John Gardner was my grandfather. They had three children. William Edward Gardner Born 1900, Oct23. Chester H. and Lucille Gardner. Emma is said to have died very young. She would have died some time between Lucille's Birth in about 1907 and 1910 because she does not show up on any census with the family after that. Please let me know if you have any info that might help me. Thank You

Hi

The only information I have is that the Thelma Hoffman was she was born in Ohio on 1 April 1910 died 15 February 1988 in Florida and was married to Gordon Keeshan also Keeshan, born 29 Nov 1910, Ohio died 17 Jan 1980, Fort Lauderdale, Florida... I've also found out recently they did live in NY for a period of time also... So I'm not much help.... I know Gordons parents and Grandparents details... I have nothing on Thelma not even got a copy of her death certificate which is one thing that I suppose I should get to get more information on her parents... I was trying to do this without obtaining that. However I have someone in Florida doing some research on my behalf and keeping my fingers crossed I'll get some more info soon... She's only just started for me so will have to wait and see... Will let you know and if you could pass on anything you have if we can confirm between us it's the same one... Keeping fingers crossed...

Look forward to hearing from you...
Sorry for the delay in responding. I've been out of town. I do not have a Thelma Hoffmman in my file. Re: Albert Ewald and Augusta (?). They had a daughter Thelma but I don't know anything about her. Augusta (?) married a Julius Schultz after Albert Ewald died. Julius and Augusta had a daughter Bertha (b. Apr 1872 - d. aft 1948). Bertha married Jacob (John) Hoffman about 1894. He may have died in Iowa 1963. They had three children. Catherine "Katie" born Mar 1895 in Toledo. Lydia "Littie" born Aug 1898 in Toledo. and Fredrick born 01 Aug 1901 in Toledo. Is this possibly the family you are looking for? Would appreciate any additional information you can provide or any of this you can confirm. I have found a grave for a Julius Schultz and his wife Augusta in Toledo. But I have not yet confirmed that they are the family I'm looking for. I plan on going to Toledo this summer and try to find obit's for them.

Ewald, born 1863 Mother Magdelina Panzer Born May 1869.

Siblings..Magdelina born July 1887
Adam May 12 1889(my ancestor)

Andrew born 1898
Frederick Jr 1904

I found the family in 1900-1920-1930 census for NY. Frederick was widower by 1930. Magdelina died 8/28/1924

Hope this helps.
Susan

Albert Ewald - Berlin Germany

Searching for any information on Albert Ewald and wife Augusta (last name unknown). Daughter Amelia Ewald (b. 14 Apr 1868 in Berlin) married Charles Daniel Draheim in Toledo 19 Jul 1887. Daughter Hermine "Minnie" Ewald (b. 1861 - 1862 Berlin) married Adolph Mersing in Toledo 23 Oct 1886. Daughter Augusta Ewald (b. Jul 1863 Berlin) married William Petsch in Detroit 25 Nov 1882. Augusta may have been married to a man named Isler or Easler prior to William. Daughter Bertha Ewald married Jacob Hoffman in Toledo About 1894. Albert and Augusta also had a son, Albert and another daughter Thelma. Nothing known about them. It is possible that Albert died in Germany and his wife Augusta married a man named Julius Schultz before coming to the U.S.

Hello Pat,

I tried to contact you outstide of this message board but it came back undeliverable.
I am researching Peter's brother Frederick and his family but what I had found on Peter somewhat matches your info. I have a first wife for Peter (Ernst Ewald)--Emma born June 1859 and she being the mother of Henry born July 1894 and Kathryn born September 1985. So now I am really confused. Are Henry & Kenneth one in the same? And you said Kathryn died in 1997. Was she still an Ewald or had she married?
Maybe together we can staighten this out.

Thanks,
Nancy

I am new to geneology, and thanks to my granny (Oakley) I have a ton of great information about her side of my family tree. Unfortunately, my gramps died when I was 5, so he is not around to give me great information about his side of the family. All I know is that he was born in 1923 in NJ. He has two brothers: Harry and John and a sister: Charlotte. I don't know enough to even know where to begin! If anyone has link to this information, I would really love to compare notes. Perhaps I can give you recent info on the family if you can help me with the past.

Thanks so much for any and all help.

Lillie's father was William Philip Ewald born in Germany and died in Carroll county Indiana in 1899. He was my grgrgrgrandfather. He divorced his first wife (my grgrgrgrandmother) and remarried Sarah Brewer who was Lillie's mother and had a second large family. William Ewald was born in 1827 and was a captain in the civil war from Cincinnatti Ohio, he moved after the civil war to Frankfort in Clinton County Indiana and then to Carroll County Indiana after his second marriage.

The Ewald I have is my daughter-in-law. Her father was Philip b.1951 Cincinnati. His father was Harry G Ewald b.1921 in New York. I think his father was Henry (Harry) G Ewald b.abt.1896-97 who married an Ann McCormack. The age fits the Harry G. Ewald, son of Frederick and Magdelena in the 1910 New York census.
Since this isn't my ancestor, I haven't been looking but it is my grankids ancestor so any info I can get, they may appreciate some day.
Does this look like a relative?

New York EWALDS

My Katherine Kate Katie Catherine (??) b. abt Jan or June 1869 married an EWALD who died before June 5, 1900 census. This may be a 2nd or 1st marriage for this EWALD.

According to death records, the following EWALDS died around this time. If one of these EWALDS are yours, please let me know who they married so I can determine which one to search further. Thank you.

OTTO EWALD b. abt 1869 died Feb. 25, 1900
GEORGE M EWALD b. abt 1867 NY died April 18, 1896
FREDERICH EWALD b. abt 1858 NY died May 13, 1898
WILHELM EWALD b. abt 1850 in ?? died April 24, 1900

If KATHERINE CATHERINE KATE KATIE married one of your EWALDS listed above or maybe one not listed here, let me know. She was living in KINGS CO. NY in 1900.

EWALD was her 2nd marriage, so she either married him using her maiden name or her married name. I am assuming her first husband was BRADY--or I could be wrong. Her 3rd husband was a FITZSIMMONS.

This UNKNOWN EWALD had two or three daughters by this marriage to KATHERINE. I don't have information on his other wife or children if there were any. This EWALD's children from this marriage are: Lillian, Clare, and (Susan who may be from another marriage).

Thank you for any information you can share.

There were not that many EWALD in NEW YORK during this time (1880-1900) so chances, I hope, this family looks familiar to one of you.
EWALD, FRIEDLAND, Brandenburg, 1811 > New York, 1873

We're looking for information concerning the family of Martin Freidrich EWALD, born 1811, probably in Brandenburg, Prussia, and Johanna Charlotte FRIEDLAND, born 1815, in "Boesenbrau," Brandenburg, Prussia. Martin and Johanna married in 1839 in Frauenhagen, Brandenburg, Prussia. They are believed to have had eight children, including

(1) _____ Ewald

(2) Gottfried Ewald

(3) Martin Friedrich Ewald [m. UNVERDROSS?]

(4) Caroline Wilhelmine Justine Ewald [STRAYER?]

(5) Augusta Amelia Ewald [MUNDT]

(6) Wilhelmine Justine Ewald

(7) Wilhelm August Ewald [m. RETTIG]

(8) Auguste Marie Luise Ewald

Several of the extended family, including the parents, Martin Ewald, Sr., and Johanna Friedland, emigrated to New York in the 1860s, or 1870s, settling in Martinsville, Niagara County, New York, near Buffalo. Martin died in 1886, probably in Martinsville, and was buried in Martinsville. Johanna died in 1892, probably in Martinsville.

Some of the grown children, and their families, moved to Michigan in the 1880s.

Carla,
Just happen to be scrolling thru the listings and came upon yours for Ewalds out of Missouri. If you want to drop me a note we can compare lineages to see if anything matches. My wife's family is all from St. Louis and we have a short history that I haven't been able to complete for the Ewald line.
Mike
