Ewald, born 1863 Mother Magdelina Panzer Born May 1869.

Siblings..Magdelina born July 1887
Adam May 12 1889(my ancestor)

Andrew born 1898
Frederick Jr 1904

I found the family in 1900-1920-1930 census for NY. Frederick was widower by 1930. Magdelina died 8/28/1924

Hope this helps.
Susan

New York EWALDS

My Katherine Kate Katie Catherine (??) b. abt Jan or June 1869 married an EWALD who died before June 5, 1900 census. This may be a 2nd or 1st marriage for this EWALD.

According to death records, the following EWALDS died around this time. If one of these EWALDS are yours, please let me know who they married so I can determine which one to search further. Thank you.

OTTO EWALD b. abt 1869 died Feb. 25, 1900
GEORGE M EWALD b. abt 1867 NY died April 18, 1896
FREDERICH EWALD b. abt 1858 NY died May 13, 1898
WILHELM EWALD b. abt 1850 in ?? died April 24, 1900

If KATHERINE CATHERINE KATE KATIE married one of your EWALDS listed above or maybe one not listed here, let me know. She was living in KINGS CO. NY in 1900.

EWALD was her 2nd marriage, so she either married him using her maiden name or her married name. I am assuming her first husband was BRADY--or I could be wrong. Her 3rd husband was a FITZSIMMONS.

This UNKNOWN EWALD had two or three daughters by this marriage to KATHERINE. I don't have information on his other wife or children if there were any. This EWALD's children from this marriage are: Lillian, Clare, and (Susan who may be from another marriage).

Thank you for any information you can share.

There were not that many EWALD in NEW YORK during this time (1880-1900) so chances, I hope, this family looks familiar to one of you.
I am new to geneology, and thanks to my granny (Oakley) I have a ton of great information about her side of my family tree. Unfortunately, my gramps died when I was 5, so he is not around to give me great information about his side of the family. All I know is that he was born in 1923 in NJ. He has two brothers: Harry and John and a sister: Charlotte. I don't know enough to even know where to begin! If anyone has link to this information, I would really love to compare notes. Perhaps I can give you recent info on the family if you can help me with the past.

Thanks so much for any and all help.

Looking for information about Gustav Ewald, b. 5-30-1866 in Prussia. Arrived in U.S. sometime between 1870 and 1875. His father was Gustav Ewald also; his mother was Minna (?) Ratey (?) (not sure of spelling). Possibly had a sister Rosalie who may have died of cholera aboard ship. Am told his mother died on ship also. Gustav was raised in Chicago by a Lutheran minister; apprenticed as a cigar maker. He appears in censuses after 1900 living in Chicago. Married Anna Guldner of Iowa. Am looking for his birthplace, parents' information, what ship he arrived on, etc. Any information would be appreciated.

Dear George,

There is a Henry Ewald north of Lawrence Co, in Indianapolis, IN. after 1853 in a Census (I don't remember which one).
Also Lawrence Co., IN. is by Jackson Co., IN. In Jackson Co. there were a few Ewalds in the 1820s and 1830s. Johann (John Ewald) eventually moved his family up to the Chicago area. I don't know if this was Henry's father. Johann had a son named George.

I am looking for any information on Ewalds from Michigan and possibly from New York. My great-grndmother was Ella Ewald and married George Mann. They had three daughters Virginia, Dorthy and Lorraine. Virginia married and Albertus Hilles and had seven children one being my father Gerald Hilles. There were six boys and one girl. From census records I have found out that George Mann was from Canada and Ella Ewald was born in Michigan. That information was from the 1920 census. At that time George was 34, Ella 36, Virginia 8, Dorothy 5 and Loraine was 2-1/2. If any one has any information please reply.

Ewald & Kick firm in Englewood NJ?

I have been looking for "Kick the Printer" who was or advertised on a building off the Brooklyn Bridge in NY. In re-reading my notes I came across a reference to Ewald as follows:
According to the 1980, second letter of Alice Rosenbrock Benziger, transcribed by Freddy Becker: Henery Kick was a printer. She says >>>"Years ago when I was a kid & went over the Brooklyn Bridge, there was a great big sign which said "Kick the Printer". This was his way of advertizing. It was a very unique sign & I have seen the sign which has been in unusual sayings. The printer only had a daughter married to Ewald so in later years thei opened a printing shop in Englewood New Jerswy. Name of the firm Ewald & Kick. They are mucholder than me so I doubt its in existance now unless some of the next generation took over.<<<<

? name of Kick daughter who married Ewald? anything?

I am looking for information about Elizabeth Lick b. 1/1/1860 Hoboken NJ. Married Henery Rosenbrock (b. est. 1855, Germany; d. 1910 Brooklyn, NY. Children John Fredric Rosenbrock, Henery Rosenbrock, Sarah Rosenbrock.

Brother = Henery Kick AKA: Kick The Printer.

Other names in family= Brown, Becker, Bannon, Mc Afee.
Any leads apreciated.

Trying to connect a relative - I remember her as Lucille Ewald, she had a daughter named Grace (Coulthart?) and a granddaughter named Joan.

she lived in San Francisco in the 50s, 60s, and 70s....I think she is related to me via my grandfather's side of the family, Francis J. McCarthy - but I can't make the connection.
