Robert Ewen/Ewin and Mary Hunter

I just recently received a copy of a death record for one of my ancestors. Sarah Ewen was born in Ireland 1850-1857 to Robert Ewen/Ewin and Mary Hunter. I did a search of Griffith's valuation and came across only two hits for Robert Ewen:
Robert Ewens of Clare townland, Ballymore parish, Armagh, Ireland
Robert Ewen of Meenagory townland, Fahan parish, Donegal Ireland

Would anyone have come across either man?

Searching thru the Ebaugh's DeBaugh's and Ewen's I can only find one connection to the Talbot name 200 yrs before:
Richard Ewan 1610 married Sophia Scarborough 1613
---Elizabeth Ewen 1630 marries Richard Talbot (Quaker)

Does anyone know of any other Talbot connections? or maybe they were Quakers? or maybe they were cousins back to Richard Ewen?

In browsing the death records in Surry County, NC (USA) today, I located one for an Elizabeth EWEN, b. abt 1859 in Yorkshire, England. She died 10-31-1919 in Mt. Airy, NC and is buried at Oakdale Cemetery in Mt. Airy. Shows it was reported by a John EWEN of Mt. Airy, who could be her husband.

Hello, I have been looking for Jemima Fraser for a long time. I joined ScotlandsPeople last month and have made slow progress. Jemima was married to my GreatGreatGrandfather John Matheson on 12 December, 1850 at MacDuff. John Matheson came to MacDuff from Plockton, Lochalsh. They had my GreatGrandmother Isabella in 1852, William 1857 and Hugh 1862. I think Jemima died shortly afterwards. My mother's middle names were Fraser Matheson. She told me her Grandmother, Isabella, left MacDuff for Aberdeen at age 14 when her father married again to a Jean.

EDWIN MARLON EWEN

Plains – Edwin Marion Ewen, 74, of Plains, passed away on Friday, Oct. 6, 2000, at St. Patrick Hospital in Missoula of natural causes.
He was born April 24, 1926, in Worden to Stephen and Eleanor (Stromme) Ewen.
Edwin served in the U.S. Army during World War II in France. He received two Purple
Hearts.
On Feb. 22, 1947, he married Frances Osmond in Billings. He was a man of many talents and worked in numerous occupations throughout his life.
Edwin loved children and horses. His hobbies included hunting, fishing, gardening and playing cards.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers. Survivors include his wife Frances Ewen of Plains; six children, Linda Laager of Lancaster, Minn., Sharlene Rivinius of Plains, Shirley Wilson of Trout Creek, James Ewen of South Beach, Ore., Roy Ewen of Fort Worth, Texas, and Marilyn Braught of Clackamas, Ore.; 22 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Memorial services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 10, at the Sanders County Fairgrounds Pavilion. A reception will follow at the VFW Hall.
Honorary pallbearers will be Doyle Chenoweth, Bert Stobie, Gunner Johnson, Anton Johnson, Merlin Ehlers and Clarence Rivinius.
The family suggest memorials to the Plains VFW, American Heart Association or Plains Paradise Senior Citizens Center.
Arrangements are under the care of Garden City Funeral Home and Crematory in Missoula.

I am a descendent of William Buchanan Ewen's daughter Henretta who married William Albert Welch (Albert).
Their only child Bluford married Eva Lee Wills
Their only child was Floreine Welch married Mendel Morris
Two children:

Robert Mendel Morris

Bluford died early and my grandmother Eva Lee took care of Henretta and Albert. Albert died in 1941 the year I was born. Henretta lived with us in Lexington Kentucky until she died. I have pictures of her.

John Ewen was born August 1, 1856 in Alford, Aberdeenshire, Scotland to Elizabeth Gibbon. He was her first born and illegitimate. For the first short period of his life he was known as John Gibbon, not having a father claim him. By 1961 he was going by the name of John Ewen.

On his marriage registration he names his father as Alexander Ewing.

Yes, there sure is a connection. Your John Andrew was a brother to Fedilia H. Ewen, who married a Joseph Offield, both children of William Andrew Ewen and Sarah.

It is a picture of a young girl named Stella Ewen Wodaff in a first communion dress or maybe a wedding dress but she looks kind of young. There is no location labeled but I found it in Winnebago county, WI. I attached a digital image of this photo for you to view. If you are interested in having this neat treasure please let me know.

Mary, have you seen "Family Record-Ewan...Euans, A Record of the Descs of John Ewen(s) of Burlington Co., NJ and his Grandson, Moses Euans of Logan Co., Ohio, by C C. Euans and R B Cook, 1962? It may be helpful to you. I sketched family group sheet from the information in it. Also, I have a copy of Timothy's wife Sarah's application for pension , 1838. Unfortunately, it was rejected due to insufficient proof. Do you need a copy? What sources do you have? Feel free to contact me directly. G. Morgan

INFO ON TIMOTHY EWEN NEEDED

I am doing some reseach for my sister-in-law on her Ewen side of her family. I have traced her line back to William Andrew Ewen (1795-1853) and his wife Sarah (1801-1875) and I think her maiden name was Holmes. There is some indication that William's parents were Timothy Ewen and wife Sarah Starnes, or something like that. Does anyone have any information on Timothy and Sarah?

Alexander And Annie were living in Glasgow until Annie died in 1918, I really don't know where Alexander went after that. I do know that he was in the Merchant Navy & was a royal naval reservist. They had four daughters, Minnie, Iabella, Jessie, and Rosie.
As far as I've been told, Alexander remarried and I think had a family but don't know the names.
On Alexanders & Annies marriage cert, he was 26 and she was 17 in 1909 and both living in Kinning Park. By 1918 they were living in Govan where my gran was born.
Does any of this sound familiar?
