I am currently researching my family line, under both the names Ewer and Euer. I have been able to trace back to late 1700's in MA and NY. The family story goes that I was decended from the first Quaker minister on Cape Cod. So far this story could be true as Ebenezer Ewer (the oldest relative found so far) was settled in both Nantucket and Barnstable MA, and there was a listing for his son's (?) marriage as being a specifically civil ceremony, Quaker would have disowned the couple for that. Anyone else researching MA or NY Ewers? Some of the names are Euphronia Euer, daughter of Edwin Ewer, son of Isaac Ewer Sr born 1785, possible son of Ebenezer Ewer. All were farmers.
