Hi Anne,
Thanks for your prompt reply to my message on the message board. Any (or
all) of the Oxford area Ewers details that you have would be extremely us=
eful.
Eli Robert's father's name would also be a great, if you know what it is.=
So far, I've traced the Ewers' back to the early 1700's, although the lin=
k
is proving tenuous with my ancestors so far! It is a fairly rare name so
I keep looking & searching the census records when I can.
Also, any DOBs, marriages & deaths & details of Edward, Cissely, Elsie &
Susan would also be a real bonus, plus any of their descendants.
On a sadder note, I have found in the Commonwealth Wargraves Commission w=
ebsite,
a Private Clifford Ewers, number 4719, 3rd/4th Battalion of the Ox & Buck=
s
Light Infantry, who died on 05/01/16 & who is buried (or commemorated) in=
the Oxford (Wolvercote) Cemetery (Plot A2. 147). He was the son of Eli &
Ann Ewers, of 1 Oakthorpe Road, Oxford & was born at Sunnymeade, Oxon.
It sounds as thought he might be a great uncle, or GG uncle. I lost count=
of the generations in my calculations! It's late now (22.43) & my eyes ar=
e
fgetting sore.
If you can supply any more details, I'll send you my copy of the family t=
ree,
once I've added your family details as far as I can. Hopefuly, that will
save you some legwork.
Regards & Best wishes,
Mike Ewers.
PS I've had to post this on here as your email address was not recognised.
