I now believe the "Ardshoff" is a transcription error in the ship's arrival log from the orginal entry in the departure log. I tried looking up "Ardshoff" in the Meier's encyclopedia (THE reference for historical German place names), but it doesn't exist. We've (librarians at the Salt Lake City Family History Library) tried variants of the name and have come up with a few possibilities, but I have been unable to place the family in any location yet. Every trip I make to the library, I try looking for something new. One of these days we'll all be blessed enough to find the records we seek.
