Wait, there's more! Just found these tonight (been searching for this for six years) in a manifest for the Amalfi sailing out of Hamburg to New York (landing 8 Oct 1889).
The list shows Wilhelm Ewert (age 38), Friedericke (35), Albert (14), Hermann (7), Emma (6), Wilhelm (2), and Heinrich (9 months). The manifest indicates the Ewerts came from Ardshoff, Prussia (haven't located Ardshoff, yet).
