Daisy is listed on the 1930 census in the LF Ewing family as a daughter-in-law. Probably the wife of Forest Ewing listed just before her and almost same age. Forest's brother Lawrence L. Ewing is on the outer edges of my mothers part of the family tree. I have attached a copy of the census FYI. Howard

Noticing postings and trees showing Joseph Ewing b. 1787 married to Sarah Gilbert (1) Elizabeth Gilbert (2) living outside of Columbiana County Ohio...... This is not correct...
1820 Census Joseph EWINGS living next door to sister in law Priscilla Milner.........

1830 Census Joseph UINS

When going through the census indexes, remember they are not always correct and there is nothing like going through the county paga by page, person by person.

Always prove your work and state resources.

Thanks
Kathryn Ewing Sterk

My grandfather, Everett Eugene Ewing, was a child of Edmund and Lucina. He was born on May 6, 1886 in Kansas. Other siblings were George Leroy, William J, Lyle, and Gladys.

The information I have on Edmund is that his full name is Edward Edmund Ewing.

As to the parents of Edward Edmund Ewing, I have only his mother's name, Rebecca Burdsall, and a cryptic note saying that her children were by a "spouseless relationship".

Rebecca had two other children: Charles and Elizabeth.

I don't know how much of this is reliable, but the name Rebecca Burdsall is from my family records, I believe.

hey ginny, lord knows if you will ever see this reply. i just yesterday (10/4/2009) picked up where i left off way back in 2001! this whole thing is kind of intense for me, trying to figure it out. can you look at my tree? i dont really know how to use the ancestry.com website very well yet. i am sure we are related. how exciting!! i want to know if possibly herbert s had more children, and if my dad has siblings. herbert s ewing is listed as the father on my dad's bc. evidently some kind of a scandal, and i do not believe they ever married. my dad knows almost nothing about his dad, and doesn't want to talk about it. the old man is 84 now and still kickin'. he lives in fenton, missouri, now. he was born in 1924 in st. louis. his mom was evelyn beckman (boeck, beck, curtain.) i just joined ancestry.com and am trying to learn how to use it. my phone number is 817-937-0123, if you would want to call me. susie

Dies of Apoplexy
While firing the furnace at eight o'clock Saturday night, I. W. Ewing, 80, dropped dead from apoplexy at the Park hotel in Frazeysburg. He had been a store and hotel keeper there for years and was one of the best known residents of northern Muskingum county. Mr. Ewing had been in his usual health throughout the day and his death came as a sever shock to his friends. He was a former postmaster of Frazeysburg, was a member of the Masonic lodge and of the Presbyterian church. He is survived by his widow and one daughter, Miss Louis of the home and one brother, Joseph Ewing.

I am looking for a connection between the Ewing family and my grandfather Thomas Donley. My father was named Charles Ewing Donley. When I asked my parents where the Ewing name came from they said it was a family name. My father was born in Arcola, Illinois in 1872. His father Thomas Donley listed on his Civil War papers that he was born in Bedford, Pa but I can not find any trace of him being there. He did go out to California in 1849 or 1850 for the gold rush there. Any clues would be appreciated.

I am looking for additional information about the Baker W Ewing family - especially children - Philip Barbour Ewing who m. Susannah Lou Eleanor Dorsey in CA in 1871. I have him in 1850 and 1860 - and then he seemed to have avoided all contact with census-takers. After his death, his family is well-documented, but he really flew under the radar during his marriage. They had children in Cooper Co, MO and Bexar Co, TX - no census data that I can find. Can anyone shed more light on this family for me? An unidentified contributor posted a tree in Ancestry - would love to compare notes with that person!

Reuben Turner Ewing - Date discrepancies

There seems to be some discrepancies on dates. Here are the facts as known:

The official biography for Reuben Turner Ewing states that he was born 24 Jun 1824. According to written testimony by Rhoda Ewing (the mother) in R.T. Ewing, Admx. Rhoda Ewing, dec'd vs. The United States, this birth date would occur BEFORE the marriage to Green B. Ewing in 1826 (which is also at odds with the official marriage records which put the marriage date at 31 Jul 1830)

Further, it is known from testimony that R.T. Ewing is the eldest son. This means that he would need to be born BEFORE William E. Ewing (15 Apr 1829). From R.T. Ewing's memorial (placed in the 11 Jun 1909 edition of The Coosa River News), he was 75 years of age when he died on 28 May 1909. If the date of death for R.T. Ewing is accurate AND the age is indeed 75 years, then that would mean that R.T. was born circa 1834 - which would contradict the date of birth for William E. Ewing, and possibly their sister, Sarah E. Ewing.

Can anyone shed any light on this?

As a side note on Rhoda Martin Ewing, testimony states that she was age 64 in 1874 when the testimony was taken. This would indicate her birth circa 1810. Many have her date of birth listed as 20 Dec 1805. While this date makes more sense in terms of marriage and childbirth, it does not coincide with stated information from testimony and from census information. Can anyone confirm the 20 Dec 1805 date of birth?

I am looking for a connection between Donley and Ewing. My father was named Charles Ewing Donley. He was born Feb 20, 1872 in Arcola, Illinois. His Father was Thomas Donleywho gave his birth as Pennsylvania in 1830. When I aksed my parents where the Ewing came from their answer was that it was a family name. This is a wild chance that you may help me but I would appreciate a answer.
Samuel Ewing of PA, SC, and VA

In my efforts to search out the first wife of my ancestor Samuel Jackson, who may have been Sally (Sarah) Ewing daughter of Samuel Ewing, I have discovered all sorts of confusing and contradictory data. Some sources list Sally as one of the children of Samuel Ewing and his wife Elizabeth Ramage. Others list her as one of the children of Samuel Ewing and Esther Caldwell. The only thing certain about Sally Ewing Jackson is that she had a sister, Elizabeth, who married John Love.

Sally and her sister Elizabeth seem to be claimed by both the Samuel Ewing/Elizabeth Ramage faction and the Samuel Ewing/Esther Caldwell faction. There were a number of other children -- William, John, Esther, Margaret, Jane, and Henry. Other sources list an "Allinor" (Eleanor?). William Ewing married Jane Enloe in 1804 in York County, SC; his brother John married Hannah Enloe.

The Ewing lineage I'm researching was, I believe, from York County, SC. Yet, the Samuel Ewing who was married to Elizabeth Ramage was from Chester County, Pennsylvania and he died in Amelia County, Virginia, with no apparent connection to York County, SC.

Is it possible that there were two Samuel Ewings, both born about the same time? Or was the same Samuel Ewing married twice? I welcome anyone's thoughts and comments on this subject.

I've checked thru M.Fife and all other resources and can't place them. Thanks for the help.

Looking for Edward Ewing in Texas

I have very little on Edward (middle name unknown)Ewing. His birthdate I believe is 26 July 1884 and was in PA (?). Date of death is unknown. His parents were Zachariah and Agnes (Cook) Ewing. He had three brothers. They were John, Samuel and Earl. John was my grandfather and I have lots of data on our family forward I would be willing to share. Please advise if you have any information. Thanks.
