COLUMBIANA, OH: Kathryn "Elaine" Exten, 90, formerly of Howard Street, died Monday morning, December 17, 2012 at her home in Warminster, PA.

Mrs. Exten was born June 24, 1922 in Lisbon, OHIO, a daughter of Arthur L. and Kathryn Morris Evans, Sr. and had lived in the Columbiana County, Ohio area most of her life.

Elaine was a teacher for the Fairfield/New Waterford schools and then the Lisbon School District. She was a member of the First Christian Church of Columbiana.
Elaine was also a member and past matron of the former Columbiana Chapter of the Eastern Star and currently the East Palestine Chapter #381 Order of Eastern Star, member and past royal matron of Amaranth Akron Court #5, past worthy high priest of White Shrine and was the oldest surviving past president of the Benjamin Firestone Post #290 American Legion Auxiliary in Columbiana, Ohio.

Her husband, Robert E. Exten, Sr., whom she married June 14, 1947, died June 8, 2000.

She is survived by three sons, Dr. Robert (Debra) Exten, Jr. of Mansfield, Ohio, Retired Lt. Col. Arthur Exten of Limestone, TN and Raymond (Melissa) Exten of Chalfont, PA; nine granddaughters, one grandson and several great-grandchildren.

Besides her parents she was preceded in death by two sisters, Grace Eckstein and Jacqueline Evans; a brother, Arthur L. Evans, Jr.; and a granddaughter, Kristine Exten.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, December 22, 2012 at the Warrick-Kummer-Rettig Funeral Home, Columbiana, Ohio with Clarence Mansfield, Minister officiating.
Burial will follow in Columbiana Cemetery where Eastern Star Services will be held. Friends may call from 5-7 pm Friday at the funeral home where an Amaranth Service will be held at 7:00 p.m. Friday and also one hour prior to the service on Saturday at the funeral home
