Dear Ms. Kim Lurvey,

Benjamin Franklin Eyer married to Florence Agnes Knifton was my gr. grandfather whose father Jesse was the brother to your gr.(gr?) grandfather (I believe) also named Benjamin Franklin and the son of John Eyer & Catherine Steckley, if I've got the progression correctly. I would love to see a copy of John Eyer's family bible entries to which you've referred and would especially love to see any family pics you may have, family stories, family recipes, etc. My grandmother was Jennie Ina (Jane) Eyer oldest of eight. I will be sure to share the info. with my family & relatives who would most undoubtedly enjoy it!

Sincerely,

Patricia Ehret Contact me at: loqipei@yahoo.com

Found there is a John Ritter Eyer in the old cemeteries in Northampton Pa. but that does not help with John Ritters parents, time gap.

Have a fantastic day.

Hi, there.

Sorry, I have been inactive for several years. Yes, my ggg grandfather, John Eyer was married to Elizabeth Wise.

In December of 2000, I visited the Union County courthouse in Lewisburg, PA. There, in the Recorder's office, I found a recorded document dated 1837 which proved that John Eyer was indeed the son of Abraham Eyer and his wife, Catherine. This was the exciting highlight of my Eyer research.

I found a wealth of Eyer information in Lancaaster County. If you're interested, let me know and I will provide details.

They were living in Hamiota, Marquette, Manitoba in the 1901 Canadian census. Their son, William Franklin Eyer (1870-1944) migrated to Washington and is buried in Kelso, Cowlitz, WA.
Burr Frederic and Beverly Eyer

My son works at our local county fairgrounds. Every month there is an auction. Left over last summer, were some Bibles and other books, even some letters. And he is too much like me, and couldn't stand the thought of them being thrown in the trash, so he brought them home. They all seem to belong to the same family. The gentleman mentioned most is Burr Frederic or Frederic or Bud Eyer. In one letter he talks about the death of his wife "Bev". In one of the Bibles, is a handwritten note on one of the liner pages "Dessa P. Eyer Bible. Presented to me by my daughter Sarah Elizabeth Lephart, Nov. 1943. I would love to get these items back to the family they belong to. I cannot bring up either of the Eyer names on the searches on Ancestry. Please contact me if someone recognizes these names. There are more handwritten notes in the Bibles, etc. with dates and events. These are an incredible find, in my opinion.
Jacque Kutz

Eyer Family Mystery

Greetings,

It's been a while since I've looked down this line. I am looking for any information about the father of Julian Eyer. She was born I believe somewhere near Northumberland, Pennsylvania on January 30, 1876. Her mother was Sarah M. DeWald (b:1856 d: 1930-35). Her father was an Eyer, and we suspect his name was Samuel. As the story goes, shortly after Julian was born her father jumped in a wagon and never was heard from again. We have the death certificate of Julian and unfortunately the information recorded was wrong. The person filling out the information listed her father in law as her father.

We have looking to solve this mystery for a long time. If anybody has any information that could shed some light on this it would very much be appreciated.

Thanks

Dan Hawkins
danhawkins81@yahoo.com

Eyer / Martin / Manz Family

Hello - I am hoping to connect with descendants of Friedrich and Annie Schneider Manz. Their children are: Marcella (Hayen), Hildreth (Merrill Headrick), Margaret (Kohlhoff), Dorothea and Ruth Helen (Martin, Eyer). The five girls were born between 1909-1917, probably in Minnesota. Friedrich was the son of Herman and Emilie Ladwig Manz and he was born in STearns County Minnesota. I believe the family moved to California and lived in Alameda County. Any connections would be appreciated and I have much Manz family information to share. Thank you! Sue sug53@earthlink.net

Others are John, Isaac, Jesse Mary, Lydia and Susie. Migrated from Ontario to Hamlin, KS, where he is buried. Will gladly share more.

Re: John Eyer/Catharine Steckley

The John/Regina Eyer family came from PA and went to Markham Canada @1801. He has been linked to Abraham Eyer but that is in question.
This is from 'Tunkers In Canada'
Christian Steckley came to Canada in the early part of 1800 and took up two hundred acres of land on Lot 31 concession 4, Markham, one mile and a quarter south of Gormley. He was ordained a minister in Pennsylvania and was the first bishop of Markham district when it was organized by Jacob Engle in 1808. His son, Christian, was one of the first ministers around that time. His sister, Mary, married Jacob Heise of Victoria Square who was a deacon. Another sister, Susanna, married Christian Baker on March 30, 1836. Witnesses were John Baker and Eva Steckley, a sister of Bishop Samuel Baker of Gormley. John Steckley was a son of Christian Steckley. He married Nancy Baker who was a sister of Bishop Samuel Baker who lived on the old homestead and built the brick house in 1850. It was one of the homes where their meetings and conferences were held. He also had Love feast in his barn in 1848. John Eyer married his daughter, Catharine, and was chosen to the ministry around 1860 for Markham district. He ran the flour mill at Headford and around 1880 he went to Brown County, Kansas, and got a farm there. Susan Steckley married John Doner who was chosen deacon of Markham. His son, Thomas, was a minister. He was the last of the descendants and sold the farm to John Empringham. His son now works the farm.
