Jeanne,
My grandfather was Hugo B. Eyermann; his father was Wiliam Heinrich; his father was Joseph Wilhelm Eyermann. I will be happy to share with you what I have. My aunt, Virginia Miller, was also an Eyermann genealogist and you may have already corresponded with her in the past. Let me know what you need.
Gail Morrow, nee Eyermann
I'm interested in learning more about Gottleib Eyermann who lived in St. Louis and the Manchester, MO area. He is listed on my great grandmother's will and he was in Missouri during the time you mentioned. Heard my grandmother divorced and married Gottleib, but can't find documentation.

Sorry, don't have a lot. My g-grandmother was Mary (Maria)born 1822 in PA. Married Michael Hollocher(from Wuerttemberg, Germany) had 10 children in Manchester MO. A cousin found written in his Bible: Mary divorced Michael married Gottleib Eyermann who cheated Joseph (1st child) out of brewery storage cave. I saw the 2 names of Gottlieb's wives.I don't think Mary Gottlieb ever married because in Mary's will is following: I nominate appoint my FRIEND Gottleib Eyermann as executor of my last will testament. Mary's name was Hollocher when she wrote the will Sept 9 1875. She gave all of her children something of value, but Joseph got "one dollar and no more." It seems something was wrong concerning Joseph ( brewery?). I hoped that finding Gottleib might help me learn Mary's maiden name - which I don't know (possibly Das, Dors, Dars,?). I live very close to Manchester. If you need research, let me know. Have Manchester book (400 pages) with much information about area and pictures of Hollochers, but no Eyermann mentioned. Gottleib Jr. had contracting business Eyermann Schmalz in St. Louis. Manchester is suburb of St. Louis.

Had a hard time reaching this spot took some time to merge your/my data. Still hard to figure out. 1856 Gottlieb m.Catherine Schmidt. Catherine (died 1908) Gottlieb m. Anna Maria Ernst 5/31/67 CD005. 1875 my Mary died. Will dated 9/29/75 Rec.10-12-75. Does Rec. mean probated? Others on index page with hers are dated and Rec. sometimes years apart. It is only thing I have so far with guess at death date. 1880 Gottlieb married Mary who is 45. Her children Nora 11 John 4. My Mary had Elenora who would be 11 in 1880. She had a John but he would have been much older. My Mary b. 1822. 1888 Gottlieb died.1910 Anna Eyermann living w. Lynches. JUST learned something new: my g-g grandfather living in 1850 with Melchior Lucia Ernst. Daughter Mary age 4 (b.1846). One of my great grandparents' sons Jacob Hollocher was baptized 2/19/1865 - Maria Ernst was sponsor. Maybe there were just a lot of people named Ernst during the times we are looking at. Sorry, no copy of Bible entry. I will try to get it. I need time to re-chart this and see if it makes sense. Maybe we should exchange email addresses on this list so it can be shown in chart form. Also my Mary had grandchild Nora b. 1887.

I believe your Alfred Eyerman had a step-sister named Clara who married my grand-uncle James Daughton in 1937.

Alfred's father was William Eyerman and, according to the 1900 Census, he had a brother named William. William Sr. had remarried to Helen/Ella M. Post and had 8 more children, only 5 of which were still living on the 1910 census.

Any connections?

Is this information consistent with what you have on Gottlieb? He first appears in the census in 1860, shown married to Catherine (and Marriage Record book, Vol. 1 shows marriage to Catherine Schmidt on 7-27-1856). The Marriage Record book shows a second marriage to Anna M. Ernst. I find no record of him in the 1870 census, but he appears in the 1880 census married to Mary, who is then 45, and he has 2 step-children - Nora, 11, and John, 4.
Gottlieb dies in 1888. In 1910 census, Anna Eyermann, who is then 76, is enumerated as mother-in-law, living with Jos. A. Lynch and Barbara C., age 42. Anna's age is consistent with Gottlieb's wife, Mary's, age in 1880, and Barbara's age is consistent with step-daughter Nora's age, though that certainly isn't evidence that they are the same people. Anna M. could easily be Mary in 1880 and Anna in 1910 -- it isn't such a clear connection between Nora and Barbara C., though.
I'm intrigued by this reference to your Mary/Maria's divorce and marriage to Gottlieb, but can't figure out how to fit it in. Mary's will was written in 1875; when did she die? Gottlieb, Jr. was born in 1863, and would have been too young to be the one referenced in Mary's will or in the Bible note. Interesting. Do you have a copy of the Bible entry? I would love to have a copy of it!

Joseph Wilhelm EYERMANN came to St. Louis
from Germany in about 1851. His brothers,
Gottlieb, August, and Karl (who shows up
in the census with other names -- John
Charles) followed a year or so later. It looks
as if Gottlieb had 2 wives -- Catherine SCHMIDT
and Anna Marie ERNST. One of his sons was also
a Gottlieb (Jr.), and I believe that his wife
was Minna BRIEDENBACH. Does any of this help?
Who was your great-grandmother? I have more
Eyermann history, and would be happy to trade
information.
Jeanne
